Unity and diversity should work both ways. Raj infact approved the leadership of Uddhav at the meeting. Unity and diversity should work both ways. All the east, west and south indian states are expected to show their unity towards their country by learning 3-4 languages so that they can adapt to all cultures, while some shehzaade insist to not speak any language other than Hindi. YOU show your unity by learning other cultures, by adapting. If Raj thackeray is dividing the country, then you are no different by refusing to adapt local cultures.

Raj infact approved the leadership of Uddhav at the meeting. I did not say politics is about attacking people. You are confusing yourself. I am saying that politics constrains a politician from apologizing. Even if Raj Thackeray does feel sorry in private, he cannot acknowledge it publicly. Politicians for the sake of getting elected, have to appear as decisive and strong. Apologies do not work to their advantage.

Modi has not apologized for Gujarat for 2002 after 1000 people were killed. The Congress did not apologize until 25 years later for the anti-Sikh riots, by which time the apology had no meaning. He is not going to apologize. That is his personality. But not because he hates UP/Biharis, but because he is in politics. No politician ever apologizes in public life! Apologies make a politician appear as weak. Raj Thackeray is no different a politician in that respect, from any other politician.

We cannot preserve our culture in a situation where Marathis are fast becoming minorities. Its 30% of the migrants in Mumbai are from UP/Bihar. In another 20 years, this figure may jump to 40-50%. do you expect the marathi culture to be saved living amongst a group of people who think that "protecting other cultures is not their duty"? By the way learning language is not a one day process, some asians living in UK for over 20 years havent been able to speak English yet, bcos they have lived in Indian areas and never talked to somebody who is english. Plus when a person says they respect marathi culture and language, y does smbody has to threaten him to speak marathi, its his wish by the law, he doesnt then ppl wont like him but who is Raj to force it down the threat. If the Asians in UK are doing it, then that is WRONG. Even in Brampton in toronto, the Indians out there can't peak two words of english. that is wrong! it has reached a point where forcing down the throat seems to be the only choice. Speaking in Hindi may be legally allowed. But the point is that of SYMBOLISM. Marathi is the official legislature language! That is what I mean. It dosen't matter if you speak in broken Marathi. What is more important is the effort. Forcing down arises when people do not assimilate. In every society, there is a tolerable level. Once that tolerance level is reached, then some Raj Thackeray would be born that "forces down the throat". Otherwise that society risks losing its own cultural identity.

You may think language is silly. Ask me - who has seen the marathi language dying. No one speaks marathi in Mumbai. this phenomenon is slowly spreading to Pune. Marathi film industry is already dead. within 10 years, there will be no marathi literature, marathi plays etc. etc. Marathi is a highly developed language - even more developed than some of the south indian ones. A real man or a good man of this country is who thinks about others first, vande mataram is not in marathi, national anthem is not in marathi, its not even in hindi we still sing it, we dont have language and cultural problems, we are creating it. Our nation, our mumbai was living and running fine without these issues as well. Language and culture does not make a country great, its the people's unity which makes it great.

Raj Thackeray's purpose is to divide and rule. 3 years back no marathi hated non marathi and now bcos of RAJ's GUNDARAJ this is happening. Bal thackeray used to do the same thing when he started but the he stopped and started bringing non marathis into his marathis.
