  • "I'm not a warrior!" "ya i just did that lil sword trick there the first try."

  • even though its fantasy...milling down a blade like that wouldve ruined its structure making it very weak.

  • "When you die, can I give that 'till my daughter?"

  • @bLoodykNuklz Its not all fantasy, the wierd creatures that attacked them etc. Total fantasy, though it might also have been the fantasy the Vikings believed in. The funeral in the beginning actully occured one thousand years ago. Movies will always be exaggerated, so we must look at a more resonable fact, that the vikings were a bit like this and that happend then...etc.

  • He had the metalworker fabricate the broad sword into a Kilij...I'm not sure if that is actually possible.

  • @Varangian1915 Maybe he had a new sword made entirely, and used the same hilt? Though it would have taken longer, and i don't know how the swordsmith would know how to make one.

  • The Oghuz were the predecessors of the ottomans, and the Khazars were a Jewish nation of Turkic descent.

  • maaaaan that gingers accence just kills me :D

  • @bLoodykNuklz and if we got it from the losers, it would be still no less fantasy.

  • Give and Arab a sword, he makes a knife. Hilarious

  • hey, i call that talent. he takes a viking broadsword, a weapon meant for chopping people and trees in half, and makes a functional scimitar. impressive.

  • Viking swords were made for a Norse mens particualar body type, which is built for strength Aribs however are shorter & built for fast movements hense the lighter sword!

  • @crypter27

It has nothing to do with body type. Broadswords are made for stabbing. Scimitars (and other curved blades like the japanese katana) are made for slashing.

  • @rencrow I agree, but you also have to conceed that weapons are like chothes & it has to be tailored to the individual along with ethinic body types!

  • "When you die, can I give that to my daughter?" Heavy!

  • @EcoFascist Light and sharp

  • just curious why the movie is split into so many small parts. Is it because youtube will otherwise notice that a movie is posted if it's split into longer equal parts?

  • @dsbclt when I uploaded it originally YT had 5 minute limit. I would like to reupload it but the disc I had was destroyed by my dad when he borrowed it couple of years ago.........it was literary unplayable from all of the scratches on it. When I get a replacement I will gladly reupload it.

  • Stupids, is not a fantasy movie, its from a real story ( read the fucking booK)

  • LOL!! That bit was so simple, so macho. "I cut the pole. Keep your eye on the pole." *slash slash* "Now you do it."

  • wow the first western movie that respect arabs

  • Is that red haired guy supposed to be Irish?

  • @Flipper79able If im not mistaken (which im sure im not :P) the red haired actor was in gladiator but apeared for only a few minutes, he was the praetorian who said to russel crowe "Kneel" when they were going to execute him on comedeus's orders and was just about to stab his head off when russel then headbutted him from the back of his head to him and then took his sword and stabed him in the chest with it before turning to the other guy saying "The frost, sometimes it makes the blade stick"!

  • @Flipper79able Not necessarily. Don't forget the Viking Erik the Red. It could have been common stock to make the red hair, plus the vikings did several raids over Ireland.

  • @mydlands Give me a fucking break. Ireland didn't have bears and therefor no bearskinned people. Anyone who doesn't see these are Native Americans are either stupid or playing the devil's advocate with me.

  • @Flipper79able He is most likely supposed to Scottish or Irish. Both the Scots and Irish would occasionally serve as mercenaries or soldiers of fortune. It was not uncommon during this time for some of the Celtic groups at this time to fight with a particular group of Vikings (the Norse) and fight against another group of Vikings (the Danes for example).

The Swedish Vikings really didn't travel west. They went east into Russia. The Swedes liked to set up trade routes with the east.

  • @Aweedram Offcourse the Swedes travelled West, There are many runestones in Sweden raised to honor fallen warriors in the West, Many chieftains raised a fleet and went west aswell (Björn Ironside e,t,c) But The East was the obvious target offcourse, Closer. They founded the First Russian Kingdom and remained in the East as overlords for a long time. Created a thousend mile trading network From Todays Sweden to Bagdhad;Konstantinopel,Damaskus, And besieged Constantinopel twice and much much more!

  • @joonte1010 Yes I understand and know what you are saying however, by your own description you are describing what I would consider east Baghdad, Canstantinople, Russian etc...

I simply meant that the Swedish vikings had considerably less to do with settling and or raiding places like Ireland the Faroes, England, Iceland and Greenland. This was done by the Norse and Danish vikings primarily.

  • @Aweedram As i stated, There were Swedish Vikings that raided places such as England,France from times to times.. Why else would they raise runestones in honor to fallen warriors in the West? Björn Ironside also gathered up a fleet and went west and raided all the way down to the Mediterrean and Italy (He was aiming for Rome but attacked the wrong town, Luna or something the town was called). Hes fleet later got defeated against a Saraccen fleet but he managed to get home.

  • @joonte1010 Not trying to argue with you, and I'd gladly read something if you recommend it. I am always interested in expanding my knowledge.

  • @Aweedram If your interested in Viking history you should really visit the museums here in Scandinavia, There you will find alot of interesting things! ^^ Otherwise the Sagas are something you should look deeper into.

  • @joonte1010 I will take your advice! I'll definitely read the sagas. If I had the money I would love to spend some time in Scandinavia. It is something I must do.

  • @Aweedram Iceland and Greenland and Faroe islands were primarily Norwegian places, It was actually a Swedish Viking named Gardar Svavarsson that first discovered Iceland and reported hes finding to the Norwegian King.

  • @Aweedram Your an American so im not blaming you for not having all the facts, This is atleast my history and it would be weird if i didnt have knowledge about it. There were Swedes in the West from times to times just as there were Norwegians and Danes in the East from times to times. Once there were even a Norwegian King in the East, He fleed from a Civil war in Norway and followed the Swedish Vikings eastward and to Constantinopel were he joined the Varangian Guard.

  • @joonte1010 True, I am an American, but that doesn't mean I am unable to learn. I also have some Swedish ancestors and other Scandinavian ancestry so I have an interest this topic. I may not be as well versed as you are but I have a decent grasp of Western European history as well as my own American history.

  • @joonte1010 the last men standing, that covered the last emperor's exit when the turks finally took MICKLEGARTH ( aka constantinople, byzantium, istambul.) were northmen...Swedes, Norskie, Danes, big scarey guys that were mercenaries that kept their word and bought the farm....Northmen ran Sicily for a while.

York, Liverpool, Dublin, Glasgow, Novgarod, were all viking towns....Orkney Islands were Viking country, Those guys got around. ya sure you betcha....uff da

  • @aikigeorge3 I dont think there were any Vikings in the final battle of Miklagård (Constantinopel) The last battle took place sometime between the 14th and 15th century, A couple of centuries after the Viking age had ended.

  • @joonte1010 I did not say they were vikings, I said they were northmen, the Varangian Guard....1353 may

big scary broadaxe swinging tough guys...there was a really signifigant amount of traffic up and down the river systems between the Baltic and the Black Seas...those longships worked perfectly on those rivers....

by the tenth century, raiding was pretty much replaced by trade and settlements....but every now and then ....

  • @aikigeorge3 Back then entiry Scandinavia was christianised and had major civil wars or "crusades" towards the baltic/Finnish lands. So its highly unlikely that there were any Northmen in Constantinopel when the city fell.

  • @aikigeorge3 The Shetland Islands off the northern tip of Scotland were also settled by the Vikings too.

  • @RedCastle5000 oh yes, that was part of the danelaw in 1066, it was where harald hardrede set off to to fight harold goodwinson in the north of england whilst william of normandy was getting ready to invade...if they had not had to march all the length of the country, William would have had a harder fight i think......

  • This clip is my favorite part in the whole movie. ;) *hugs you for posting it*

  • when you die.... can i give that to me daughter....lol

  • @sselvaku

its "when you doy, can i give that to me doter?" xD

  • The music is amazing..

  • Quality, sound and synchronisme: excellent no jams, stutters, soft focus nonsense.

  • woe to the defeated

  • Considering this is based on a Crighton book which was as loose retelling of Beowulf, I think the mix between fantasy and history is appropriate. After all, you don't think the original Beowulf's Grendel was a real monster, do you?

  • when you die, can i give that to my daughter?

my fav line of the whole film

  • I'd rather see discussion of historical inaccuracies that religious altercation. So keep going folks!

  • lol at the last bit.

  • why does Herger call Ahmad little brother?

  • I am a history buff. Much of what happens in this movie concerning names, weapons, ships, food, legends is pretty accurate. However, it´s like a hollywood movie with guys who get hit 100 times and no blood or a guy kills 1,000 men but never gets a scratch etc...it is real in a sense but it is a story MEANT TO ENTERTAIN. It´s not a history lesson. If it were real, they would be eating 6 times a day to keep their weight up and raping local women etc. It´s just a movie.

  • i love the end of this scene, the laughing goes on just 2 seconds 2 long, making it classic! 2:05

  • @bLoodykNuklz NO .....

  • @bLoodykNuklz

Its a different verson of beuwulf saga, but its more correct, in the other beuwolf movie there is dragons and shit, armies in vikings stories were often called for different creatures.

  • why doesent eny of the 13 wield an long axe (axe with a long grip ) its most famous viking weapon imo

  • may be you guys are right.but the sword which is used from centuries to century was this kinda sword.i think the Asian sword is like that coz i saw this kinda sword in every Asian war movies.

    advantages:

fast quick re attack, no need of highted and heave men (means power to use it), use to hit the bulls eye

  • Please, no historical discussions on a fantasy movie, its worthless.

  • @Pourleduc

If thise reflektion not our history we have no hstory to

    discuss

  • So it was the Arabs who created the scimitar(or what ever that wuz)?

  • actually the original Arab sword was straight and double edged. But after the Turks introduced the scimitar to the Arabs, the scimitar starting to become popular. But in the 10th century, an Arab warrior would have most likely wielded a straight sword similar to the spatha or viking sword

  • thx

  • yes. it is called Saif or shimshar.

  • wow, he made that sword kind of fast

  • Only wanted to see this scene, because of the sword we makes!

  • an Arabian sword....

  • Yes indeed, He made a dagger out of a sword.

  • by the way we have some arabian swords in the Turkish musim, and they are like 2 meters tall,i didn't found this part in the scripture but, what the hek its funny.

  • I loved these scenes xD

  • 1:45

  • One question is the labeling of Linguistics of some North American Languages - the original name of Mohicans is Austronesian but Archaeo-politics puts it under another catagorization- The Chumash Indians have had contact with Polynesians and South Americans - Theres plenty in mainstream who support it - but the debates in that area get so political it gets flooded on the net- you have to dig into

    Genetic journals

  • The evidence of Viking touches are debatable, theres no linguistics , no written records- even though some claim a tablet fraud- but I myslf don't rule out the possible case of a landing- there was no trade routes back and fourth -

  • HardRokMiner everyone and they MAMA discovered the Americas NOrth and South before Columbus- East Asian Migrations, Fijians, Polynesians, Chinese,

Vikings, Columbus was about the last person.. and he was lost. Thats why indians are called "INDIANS" cause he was trying to get to "INDIA"

  • A common misconception. In fact, in Columbus' time, India was not called "India." It was known as Hindustan. When Columbus first observed the Native Americans' peaceful ways he called them, in his notes, "Una gente in Dios," or, "A people in God." "In Dios" has since been corrupted into our term "Indians."

  • @dsmith215 Very interesting!! Thanks for sharing!!

  • "When you die can I give that to me daughter?" LMAO

  • whys the ginger have an irish accent?? lol

  • The Vikings raided Ireland and Scotland ALOT. They even founded Dublin.

There were PLENTY of Irish Vikings back in the day, so the guy's accent ain't that farfetched at all.

  • They were a menace to England till Alfred the Great stopped them.

  • They left Northern Europe and crossed the sea according to the messenger who introduced them to the king. That will put them England or Ireland. They might also have went to what is now Scotland.

  • They discovered North America 200 years before Columbus

  • why the hell is it only 2 minutes?! this is my favorite scene btw

  • i think it's only because the song in this scene "the sword maker" it's only 2 minutes long

  • when yoo dieh can i give that to me dother!!!!

    jajajajjajaja

love the acents of tha wordl :)

  • pollitoamenaza, as for me this guy sounds rather like an Irish. But I might be wrong...

  • well

judging only by the way he looks like

i say he is scotish, you know, to me it sounds like the father of hamish in brave heart

also he use a skirt and all tath

but i might be wrong too

  • The Vikings were known to take Irishmen with them to Iceland, Greenland, and Newfoundland. They were somewhat friends.

  • I'm only watching this movie for history class. I have to write an essay on it.

  • Wow we care.

  • lol XD XD XD

  • who do you think would be good for the arab and Buliwyf if a better remake is done?

    any famous actors?

    Vid Diesel for Buliwyf?

    of Gerard Butler?

  • Wesley Snipes for Buliwyf and Jackie Chan for Ibn. Throw in Michael Rapaport and Djimon Honsou as well. Unbeatable cast.

  • lol again XD

  • @fedorwelikala Ideally, Schwarzeneger for Bewolf, and the arab guy who acted in "the Mommy" for Ibn.

  • Awesome movie,

Michael Chrichton based this on the poem Beowulf,

If only the movie was more historically

acurate when it came to weapons, clothes and armour with better actors and a bigger role for Buliwyf it wud be the greatest movie ever!!!!

  • 2:10 Asbjørn riis

  • This is how the vikings dressed! im a nowegian, i should know!!! its my fucking heritage you moron^^ you probably think they dressed like they were in the movie Pathfinder? now thats a movie wich make a mockary of norwegian heritage!!

  • why cant you just watch a GOD DAMN good movie like this and not write a SHIT COMMENTS? why???? just tell me? This is great story... about an Arab who came to Scandinavia... BECOUSE you dont belong to this movie, nezrak 20 these dont apply to you... you are good :)

  • Thanx for you're work but are you kidding?

2.14 MInutes anyway like i said good movie thanx Shorty

  • In AD 922 the arabs were at the peak of their power, very noble excelled in art and

organised warfare. Clearly the Arab fighter is not familiar with extreme toughness and harsh nomadic life. He looks rather like a clown infront of them. That doesn't mean he is weak, but a guy who lived in a city rather than a village. its a bit like an English gentleman going to live with the Zulu tribes.

  • I agree but don't forget that the Arabs warriors came also from harsh deserts ! Yes for this movie this Arab came from a city Baghdad and he is not a fighter he is an ambassador, so he does not respresnt the Arab warriors in that time, do you know the Arabs were fighting during Ramadan month so even without eating and drinking from the sunrise to the sunset !

  • Palestinian listen, your arab warriors or arab culture will always be JUST SHADOW of ROMAN EMPIRE or ALEXANDER the Great and GREEKS, so shut a fuck up! European Civilization gave you this internet, where you watching this movie, SO BE THANKFULL! and stop messing around, I respect YOUR ARAB CULTURE but YOU SHOW LITTLE RESPECT FOR US EUROPEANS here... I am not Scandinavian, but I am European, so I consider scandinavias closer to me than you.

  • PETROforeverCRO: dude you're a fuckedhead idiot, nobody was racist here except you, we were discussing things about the movie !!! you prove that you're not close to the scandinavians because they are much smarter than you !

Also be aware that the Arabs who gave the world MATHEMATICS to make a calculation machine like your computer, Algebra Algorithm ...etc all Arabs.

so close your mouth, and remember that USA and Japan who made these technologies, not the lazy EUROPEANS like you !

  • ahahhahahhahahah you stupid little man :) Arab gave mathematic to world? Arabs stole everything from others, mathematic and logic from GREEKS, astrology from egyptians, arhitecture from persians... you even burned 642 alexandrian library, the greatest library of ancient knowledge... YOU ARE FUCKING PARASITES... ciao ragazzo

  • hmmm now I know why the E.U did not accept Croatia ;)

  • Oh dont worry about us... we are blocked for now, becouse of slovenians, not becouse of our economy or anything like that... romania and bulgaria are africa for us, and even so, they are in EU we are not :) that is a price when you defend Europe for 500 years against muslims from turkey, and what do you get? block from little bug like slovenia lol... but ok... You know what? I dont hate you :) I have many muslim friends here, but you dont respect any other culture but yours

  • I don't hate europeans and I respect them, but you seem a bored asshole ;)

  • well you are right, I am bored asshole in this moment, but I am not asshole for real :) just like to be asshole sometimes... it's more fun in some moments :) P.S: I watched this movie 10 times :) great movie :) I like the most last scene when arab say goodbye to scandinavias, it's epic, becouse they were friends trough all and even till today, arabs and europans are not friends like they were... it's sad

  • And what a fuck do you have with SCANDINAIVANS? go back to your semitic brother of middle east... we are full of muslims in Europe... you are not welcome anymore.

  • And what the fuck you have with a MOVIE talking about an ARAB with SCANDINAVIANA ? it is the 13 warrior here, go watch some Croatian boring movies, nobody likes the Croatians in europe !

  • hahah you are funny fellow :) Austria and Germany Like us :) eternal allys :) from WWII till today :)

  • initially germans hate you too much because they always lose in soccer Vs Croatia !

  • hahahha no no, you see, they like us even they lose against us, and we like them becouse they always lose against us :) it's common good :) hahah and for you I will just say: FREE PALESTINE!

  • LOL, thanks best wishes for Croatia :)

  • akhi respect petero he is the king and the tru man of the west

  • only 2 min at the time now!? -.-' come on... I mean thanks for posting and all, but would you mind having a bit longer then 2-4 min for each vid =P. else then that great movie!

  • Blame it on my dvd ripper. I screwed up something when I was ripping it.

  • Hehe!!! To sharpen the pikes like that would take up ONE afternoon!

There is work yet to be done all the other days, dear Viking brethren!

  • fat?

  • I like how that redheaded guy is wearing a Scottish kilt but he has an Irish accent.

  • kilts are worn in ireland too.

  • Yeah thats true. I just hope they were trying to make him Irish then and not Scottish.

  • There were no Irish or Scottish in Scandinavia at that time, W werent in somekind of an Union, we Raided ur Countrys, Ireland and Scottland.. We also took "Trälar" and brought them to Byzantine or Gotland to trade.

  • Thats exactly right. That is all the more reason why I think this guy shouldn't be in this group at all. Besides that, the plaid kilts (according to some) were not even invented yet, and whatever Irish and Scottish people the Vikings didn't kill, would have been sold as slaves. "Trälar" is a term for slaves, isn't it?

  • yes Trälar is Slave. But we often took ou Trälar from the Eastern Countrys, Poland,Baltikum,Filand and Russia. Ireland we colonised and Scottland we raided from times to times. England was the place who got hit by the Vikings hardest. In the West. In the East it was Russia and the Baltic Countrys.

  • Okay just making sure. It's definitely safe to say that England got their asses kicked by the Norsemen. I see you are Swedish. My Scandinavian blood is primarily Swedish as well. Our ancestors were the ones to go to the Baltics and Russia. Some of our ancestors also became the legendary Varangian Guard. I am quite proud to be part of that bloodline.

  • Most of this movie was filmed a stones throw from where i live...beautiful scenery.

  • I envy you :).

  • Schimitar's the best!

  • What is up with all the 2 and 3 min. scenes?????? WTF????

You know you can load 10 minuets at a time and if you make it smaller it can be 19.00 long. And Wide Screen sucks on You Tube!!!!!

    Thanks for trying though.... >;(

  • It's done scene by scene, instead of arbitrary chunks of time. I prefer it this way, actually.

  • Nice

  • takk venn

  • "give an arab a sword and he makes a knife." ha

    ha

  • Yeah, that was funny, didn't like the dog joke on the horse though, Arabian horses are great saddle horses.

  • So are the swords man.. the are so sharp and good for the fast fight style.. and above all: they worth too much money.

  • Actually Arab horses are huge in comparison to Scandinavian breeds.

  • 2:05 ROFL "when you doi can i gib dat to me dawterr?"

  • lol...i love that too =)

  • what is this music in the background? Who composed it?

  • Jerry Goldsmith composed the score.

  • I was looking for it too.. thanks man

  • i love men that have big shoulders and chest ...lol awsome movie too

  • Skeld the superstitious is HOT. Not so much in the face, but that body... owo;; look at those shoulders! o.o

XD Weath amuses me so much. I want to play with his kilt.... >w> with him in it.
