for those new to this music, this and other great bands were either canadian, or sold in canada. I remember this well as I was a teenager in canada. chiliwack, the kings and april wine are others to check out.
The opening and closing anthems are just fantastic. Hearing this song on KSHE or KWK in St. Louis as a kid had me humming it all day. The lyrics are a bit squirrelly but the chorus is decent. Overall, the anthemic aspect of this song makes it a classic.
As of 10/14/11, two people were carried low by Armageddon.
i remember lisinin to this song when i was younger and i didnt know what it was called and as the years went on ive craved hearing it more and more and still didnt know the name of it then i click on the vieo named armegeddon and i heard the intro and my jaw drops
when i was in grade One I was putting on my boots to go out for recess and taking my time ... I was all by myself and humming the beginning of this song (i had older brothers and sisters that bought the album)... my teacher came up to me with a disturbed look on her face and asked if I was alright!
We listened to this song, album often..in high school. Great song. We always imagined our school getting hit at the end and it getting blown up so we didn't have to go to school anymore. No casualties of course... just the building..and maybe a teacher or two....or three... ;)
@ChuckieInMT Recorded by producer Bruce Fairbairn and a former Cdn. Forces fighter jockey. The whole story is in Rocket Norton's book "Lost in Space" - very cool!
Canadian rock bands completely owned the late 70's though the early eighties. RUSH,Triumph,Saga,Red Rider,April Wine, and Prism. Bryan Adams and Celine Dion are an embarrassment to Canada!
@pinkfloydinspace 80's Bryan Adams is good...don't knock him like that. BTW BA helped write some of the songs on this very album. He also helped Kiss on a couple songs from their "Creatures of the Night" album from 1982. His songwriting partner is rock producing legend & ex-Prism member Jim Vallance. The real embarassments to Canada are (imo) Celine Dion, Shania Twain, Teri Clark, Avril Lavigne, Nelly Furtado, modern day Nickelback & especially Justin Bieber. I'm sure I left others out as well.
This is the one favorite song of PRISM that I will always love...The late Ron Tabak puts so much emotion in this one song..It is so beautiful;ly sung....
I remember this song and found the CD on line. This came out when I was in High School. I believe I was turned on to it by one of the local college FM stations. brings back memories
A second examination discovered a blood clot had developed on the right side of his brain. Tabak died before a pending neurosurgical operation could be performed ; he died on Christmas Day 1984
Upon being released, Tabak abruptly became abusive, prompting two police officers at the hospital to arrest him on the belief he was drunk. He was later discovered unconscious in his jail cell and was rushed back to the hospital.
Let's not confuse the situation here. This is a Canadian song by a classic 70s Canadian Rock group used by certain US military personal. God bless them but don't don't let your patriotism forget who your neighbors are. Godamn Canadian talent Rocks!
Possibly the greatest voice to be snuffed out by his own hand. Ron tabac. The lead singer who lost his life to a accident. Was in the primeof his life when this song hit the airwaves. It is a sad shame to lose someone so gifted and yet not so smart driving drunk. He will be missed, there was no other with a voice like his.
"hen disaster struck on Christmas Eve, 1984. Tabak was cycling across Vancouver to visit friend and bandmate Al Harlow. As the two had planned to spend Christmas together, Harlow last saw Tabak on the afternoon of the 24th when he drove to pick up Tabak and his luggage. He instead insisted on bicycling to Harlow's Kitsilano apartment as part of his fitness activity. Tabak was struck on the head during a fall when brushed by a passing car at about 8:PM.
He was brought to Burnaby General Hospital by ambulance and was told there were no injuries. In fact pressure from an anneurism in his brain was causing Tabak to behave erratically, and police attending the ER arrested him. After several hours in a jail cell, proper diagnosis and a transfer to Vancouver General Hospital for emergency surgery, it was too late.
Early Christmas Day, Tabak's mother was advised by telephone that her son's condition was grave: A scan had revealed a blood clot on the right side of his brain, as a neurosurgeon prepared to operate. Ron did not regain consciousness and died December 26, 1984.
@Cjsrockmusic you need to get out more dude .......... they were good but Canada has way better bands but they were huge in Japan in their time . I watched them almost crash a Helicopter on a stage at Alberta Jam 1 when they climbed down a ladder to the stage from the Helo as the intro played .
Great tune! I use to have this album to. Thanks for posting it! P.S. To everybody talking about age, just remember, it's just a number man !!! Rock on baby!!!
ReneeNme Feel old, I didn't say I was old, read between the lines pal, your 49 not much older then I am no big diff....I'm 40 in sept.. so a 8 years isnt much, we grew up in the same generation.... your knowedge isn;t much from mines.. you wanna see old my dads 73..we're not old my dad is.
This is an awesome tune..my brother used to play the album all the time when iwas a kid...brings back alot of memories from that time..love the intro!
Over my 21 years in Houston, I have played this song at different places where I could put in a mix tape or CD, and it always draws a lot of attention.
they don't need the long intro which actually sounds like We're Not Gonna Take It by Twisted Sister, the middle part of the song is great
