Strobes have built in fans to cool them down. Speedlights don't
Strobes are more bigger then speedlights.
But what I'm getting at is that SB800 are smaller with no fan to cool them down. I don't think they were made to shoot all day or are they was my Q's
I see people using them in softboxs too. My fear would be will I burn out my speed light. I have powerpacks and monolights but speedlights are so much smaller to carry around I would love to go that root.
@Prophit7, the life span of a flash tube is only a few hours. But then each flash duration only lasts few thousand of a second...

wouldn't those speed lights overheat if you use then like strobes and shot say 300 shots?

Strobe = Speedlight.. its the same thing in photography. SB800 strobes/ speedlight, same thing. Anything will over heat if used continuously..

I stand corrected then. Of what i hear, the SB800 has much better thermal handling than the newer SB900.
