This is not the same as the statement by Michelle Obama - which not only expresses that she was inappreciative of being a US citizen, but that she was actually ashamed of her country. McCain never said or implied that. If he was ashamed, he wouldn't have fought for our freedoms. He didn't understand what he had until it was taken from him, and if you fault him for that, you're probly a hypocrite. But to say the comments made by Mrs. Obama and Mr. McCain are somehow comparable is ludicrous.

This is not the same as the statement by Michelle Obama - which not only expresses that she was inappreciative of being a US citizen, but that she was actually ashamed of her country. McCain never said or implied that. If he was ashamed, he wouldn't have fought for our freedoms. He didn't understand what he had until it was taken from him, and if you fault him for that, you're probly a hypocrite. A different speech later the same day contained the phrase "really proud", but if you're claiming they somehow have conflicting meanings and are thus mutually exclusive, then she lied during one of her speeches, or you could admit and accept that she's just saying the SAME thing, with "really" being defined as "in reality; actually" (according to Random House Unabridged Dictionary).

Most people take for granted the freedoms granted to us as citizens of the United States of America. Being stripped those freedoms should certainly make someone more appreciative of having them. Thanks for posting this and allowing lively comments too! I don't subscribe to cable so I appreciate files like this. I didn't want to support lies & liars with my money. I never miss my cable bill though. I boycott Fox sponsors too. Obama or McCain will put Israel fears before of American safety, using American military & taxpayer $ to make Defense Contractors, MSM, & bankers richer. Remember USS Liberty! This is a distraction. It doesn't matter. You are correct legislation matters. FISA, continued war, expansion of war into Iran, coercive governmental policies with its citizens, inflation, collectivist governmental policies are all much more important.Neither Demoplicans nor Republicrats are going to change the downward direction of the country, so they all engage in silly "gotchas" to distract folks into thinking they are engaged in meaningful issues.

There's a difference between loving one's country and being proud of one's contry. You can love your country and not be proud of it. If you have chilrdren you know the distinction. I think his statement is far worse.
