We all know that the last 3 live vulcans (558, 655 and 426) depend on donations to keep them in running (fast taxi only in 655 and 426's case) condition. Now i hate to be an old cynic but if this country ever had (god forbid) another falklands type crisis, how fast do you think the government would move its ass to get all 3 of them in the air ?? Now wouldnt that be a sight/sound???
wow, it costs a few bob just to run the engines for a while, needs a couple of millionaires to get one in the air, glad to be able to see XH558 flying, but for how long, when the money dries up they stay on the ground. nice video mate, thanks.
this is one three vulcans left in running condition XM655 (at wellesbourne) and XH558 (flying) being the other 2. i have had the pleasure of seeing AND hearing all 3 of these fantastic planes but what i wouldnt give to see all 3 of them together AND flying
these planes are all maintianed by volunteers who give up their time for no reward other than to keep these planes in running (fast taxi) condition, go and see them, while you still can, and support these people they do an outstanding job.
I was working at Britavia at the time she came to Southend. (Behind the HeavyLift hangar) I remember the day before she came here to stay she made several low passes and the sound was ear splitting. I remember there being a few shunts on the Rochford road lol. The girls in the office had their hands over their ears . The next day the old girl came to stay with parachute out of her arse and then the MoD blokes stripped her of all the naughty bits and pumped out the fuel (So it seemed to us bods)
nothing is impossible, XH558 was just in the same condition really, in running order and only used to start engines and taxi. its just a matter of money, expertise, commitment, passion and time.
so sad that it just comes down to money, MPs using all the spare money to fly around the world on all expense paid holidays, the expenses scandal and they all own 2 houses which we seem to pay for. i hear it costs 13,000,000 to widen 1 mile of motorway and they widen 5 or 10 miles only, whats the point in that, just pissed off that we dont seem to care anymore, where has the pride gone in ones country and heritage.. well rant over, maybe one day she will grace the skies once more

Awesome Olympus Power is right! I saw a Vulcan once, in Bellingham, Washington at the airshow.
If there is one vehicle that makes the world look a bit more like "Thunderbirds"...
What a beautiful aircraft!
Four Olypmus engines together is amazing.
We build them and test them one at a time, and they shake the earth.
