Square begins taking orders for free credit card reader

Square is currently ONLY available in the US, and they do not yet know when it will be available internationally if at all.

I got the app from the US iTunes store, downloaded, installed, set up an account, then I went to order my free Square adapter, and found they only ship to the US, and even if you did get one, it does not matter, as Square ONLY accepts US Credit Cards.

if you're afraid of being scammed, i think it would only go through if you're able to send a receipt, either as SMS or email. that would leave a trail to whoever scammed you. It would also show on a map where you were charged as well as the date and time probably. that's also one way of knowing when and where it happened. Another way of tracking if someone scammed you. I hope it works though coz it's really way cheaper to use this if you have a business. No monthly fees.

no scam, you have to add your social security number to these things and your bank account info.. if you want to try to 'steal' from someone it would be really hard to get away with it.. there are so many checks and balances that make this thing awesome.. i own a small business and we have been having tons of problems with paypal and with this, we dont need anyones credit card, they simply need to swipe and its .25% less than paypal.. awesome.. savings of possibly thousands a year.

@jiberish001 If it is that touchy, you could let the card owner type in the amount before you swipe the card.

@jiberish001 They have to "sign" for it on the touch screen of the phone, he doesn't show it in his review. Also you could check the owner's ID and there is an option to take a picture (which you could take a picture of the owner and item you're selling for example). I hope that helps.
