You talk about the one drop rule but a person that was mixed in a Latin American country was not called Latino or Spanish they were called Mulatto if they had one black parent & one Spanish parent & a person with Spanish/Indigenous was Mestizo. If they were african/Indigenous depending on where they are from they could be called Zambos or Pardo if mix with all 3. Obviously a way a person looks & certain genetic features give information on human beings. Some people don't have to ask to know.

Afro Latinas have been in the shadow because I am not sure if you know these but 95% of the Africans shipped to the new world were to Latin America. Trying to date interracially has its drawbacks. How do you bring home a person of a different race to Mom and Dad? Sure, they may be supportive or polite, but society will always notice the difference. It is generally difficult. I notice that interracial couples often shy away from places were same-race couples often thrive. Even Hollywood tends to match up stars of one color with stars of similar colors.

If a black family grows up in the same neighborhood as a white family with the same values, they'll get along just fine simply because both the girl, and the boy were raised the same way. You talk about the one drop rule but a person that was mixed in a Latin American country was not called Latino or Spanish they were called Mulatto if they had one black parent & one Spanish parent & a person with Spanish/Indigenous was Mestizo. If they were african/Indigenous depending on where they are from they could be called Zambos or Pardo if mix with all 3. Obviously a way a person looks & certain genetic features give information on human beings. Some people don't have to ask to know.

However if you look at Univision and Telemundo they are not represented. Why because they are not considered traditional Latinas. Sure, they may be supportive or polite, but society will always notice the difference. It is generally difficult.
