sammy davis jnr is awesome!!!! he is pure entertainment, no matter what generation! he never tried to impersonate frank sinatra because frank had no sense of humour and would have taken it too personally. f***ing cranky franky
Beautiful performance, I love the imitations of all those great singers :)! I wish we could see more raw talent like this on stage nowadays, it would be so amazing for not only the audience but for the artist too. I mean since the 80's, it's so much else on stage and so much more going on, it would be beautiful to just see the artist do whatever they wanted.:)
forget michael jackson, prince, james brown, and every one else...sammy is THE greatest american entertainer. drums, plays piano, writes, dances, choreagraphs, sings, acts, arranges, comedy, impersonates, and gave to causes and was a great friend. often misunderstood and unappreciated.
@jenningsconsulting I'm a fan of MJ's and JB's but you're right Sammy was one of the greatest entertainers, it's sad that alot of people dont know that he played instruments as well :)
Held back? You could not hold Sammy Davis back, and his outstanding career proves it. He performed throughout the world and was at the top professionally in the USA in music, movies, stage, TV and nightclubs until his death and beyond. He was well loved and admired by everyone. No, he did not allow himself to be held back and at a time when some tried. Nothing could stop him.
His Louis Armstrong is brilliant. Although the Dean Martin joke was arguably the funniest. I liked the Tony Bennett but I don't know his music personally.
@6REYAL6kcirb Actually,he did it all. Sing, tap, act, impersonate and get this...a musician who can play nearly every instrument in a band. Truly the world's greatest entertainer.
@BurnsideKing Yes, I forgot about that. As a young child I saw him on either Ed Sullivan or some other variety show in the 60's when western movies were still very popular. I couldn't keep my eyes off of the acrobatic skills he demonstrated with a pistol. Gee, this makes me think there were probably many other talents he had, in addition to the obvious, that perhaps only his family and close friends knew about that he didn't perform on stage. So wish I had seen him live! Simply the best.
My God, I never realized that such a clip of argueably the World Greatest Entertainer, the Late Great Mr. Sammy Davis Jr. existed. Thank you for posting a testimony to this Greatest Entertainer's emince talent and range. How I miss you, Mr. Davis. But this clip makes me feel young again.
Mr.Davis, Watching you perform filled my soul with a warm feeling that I didn't realize was missing for so long. You are loved by so many and missed twice as much. There is just no one who comes close to your talent. With deepest Respect, R.I.P.
OMG Sammy Davis was absolutely just incredibley talented. What a loss to the entertainment industry. RIP Sammy - say hi to Michael Jackson, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Nat King Cole, etc. etc. all greats like you.
Love it when he does the impressions.... I LOVE it MORE when I hear HIM sing as himself.. ... there never was a voice to perfect as his... I miss him, and his TREMENDOUS TALENT. Thank you for posting this fabulous vid.. Great !!
Some people are singers, some are dancers, some are comedians--and some are entertainers. Sammy was one hell of an entertainer, an all-around performer who knew how to work with his audience to have a fun night. Thanks for posting this amazing clip!
i have this its a dvd included in a set with a cd the whole thing is called " live and swinging " u get a cd (not of the vid preformances ) and this dvd concert its priceless and i treasure it i got it for a great price on amazon
This was actually from a closed-circuit telecast, shown in select movie theaters across the country, that served as a fund raiser for St. Louis' Dismas House in June 1965. Frank, Sammy and Dean all had solo turns before banding together [with Carson] for the main portion of the "concert".
genius. no more words are required. he really sounds like dean martin.

The only thing wrong with the above is that it may be an understatement.
