  • They look pretty cool

  • aww, I've always loved salamanders :)

actually I have a Spotted Salamander (it was found in my pool and I will set it free, don't worry) in a tuperware container on my desk as I'm typing this comment.

  • I'd donate as much as possible but I'm just a kid.

  • can i keep them in a 10 or 20 gal tank?

  • do u have any idea how to care for these salamanders man? i found 4 little ones and a large black one floating around in a pool and i need to know about housing and feeding and anything else important.

  • pretty cool!

  • i have tow of them

  • i used to have one of those and now i miss it

  • wow this is great!! guess they're doing pretty good there...you'd think the road would hurt them but..looks otherwise..

Do they put rock salt on the road every winter?...some people think this hurts the amphibian population.

  • I'm sure this road is salted but this vernal has been there for decades, as far as I know. In fact I've seen even smaller vernals that are even closer to the road. Some were so small I didn't realize they were pools until it was pointed out to me.

  • where was this video taken at?

  • Filmed in PA.

  • Wow, pretty close to the road. Amazing that so many survive despite so many cars.

  • I've seen some pools that are literally touching the road, although this one was at least a short walk off the road.

  • Great video! I just went out tonight to see if I'd have any luck. Saw three or four spotteds and couple of wood frogs, but none of the impressive egg displays you got.

  • Cool....guess the toads will be coming out next!

  • wow, i don't live ANYWERE near something like this. i would so love to be there myself, we never even go anywere except a campsight 30 minutes away that just has some bluebellys and tiny frogs. you're so lucky!!!

  • Really great vid, Jess. Glad they made their appearance for you! Incredible shots of the wood frog eggs!

  • Thanks. The wood eggs are always impressive because they get a few week head start before the other amphibians start laying their eggs. So by the time you come out looking for Spotteds, the wood frogs have had lots of time to get their work done!

  • cool vid, you could here all the spring peepers :)

  • Yes and the "quacking" sound is the wood frogs.

  • cool :)

  • Good vid man! I need to get out there sometime!!!

  • that was awesome

  • Thanks. I love spotteds!
