ok maybe I was parroting people on that aspect.....but if you want specifics....that was the closest/simplest thing to relate it to.

In real French, the transition is HARD, so to speak, so you don't "hear" the two "ll's" like in many other French words...

so the English pronunciation "GEE-UH-TEEN" is closer to the original than "GIL-UH-TEEN"

yup bjj is very usefull but stand up is just as usefull, it can help u win against a better striker... just make sure u always have something that he doesnt: for example if he is good striker be a good grounder so u have least chance, if hes good grounder be good strike to take him out, if hes good at both than be better than him at both or atleast one skill. :)

i know ive takin bjj muay thia and boxing, you can rely purly on one tech. im the best on the ground but im a good striker and i have enough power in my kicks to drop you... nd i love my elbows.

Its also a structural issue. A striker is a better attacker a grappler is a better defender. People always quote something like "94% of fights end up on the ground and thats why bjj is the best". There is no data for that but what I think is true is if someone is trying to attack you and you're better at bjj you can always take it to the ground and dominate. Its pretty difficult to attack with bjj tho. The other person has to have an interest in joining you or if not they just avoid it.

also something i like doing is using my strikes to open up a subbmission. like if you have completely past guard you can easly strike them in the face or near the face to bring their hands up and quickly pull an armbar or gogaplata or an amircana or arm triangle. the possibilities are endless
