Xibfwb, in Vwj Paj Yia's time, the Eastern Miao didn't have an awareness like we do now, so they only knew their immediate kin within a macro-region (from records I've read). They knew there were Hmong/Miao out there, but had no means of communication or trade. This being the case, how do we, Hmong from Indochina, know about Vwj Paj Yia? I assume "we" were the very raw Miao who fought and ran, right? Straight into Laos. LOL. How else would we know about him and the rebellion?
Man, poor Vwj Paj Yia. I was reading up on historical archives and ran across another mention on him. Every time I run across him in the history books, the way they tortured and killed him it makes me depressed...
Ah, great, from North-eastern Guizhou, near the Fanjing Mountain, Songtao Miao autonomous county. Songtao literally means pine and peach. I have lots of folk songs and dances from this region, just search under 梵净 or 松桃. This type of costume is very similar to Xiang miao in Hunan province.
is miao really hmong? ihave a feeling they're not but hmogn people keep claiming that miao and hmong are 1?
