I own 4 Invicta watches and have been pleased with all of them. This watch is no exception; it is heavy but with the wide band, it stays and feels very balanced on my arm. I like big watches, and this one is just right. I own a reserve collection Invicta, that is bit heavy, but this 6930 is better balanced and is about half the price of ...

I own about 10 different versions of these Invicta pro divers, never had any problems....and if it breaks or lost, who cares?.... for 100 bucks get another one.
@greekpapi YES!! my sentiments EXACTLY. I now own two of these 5017s and they have been EVERY bit as reliable and accurate as my more expensive watches and I don't baby any of my watches. I use them equally. The second one is on a 22mm NATO strap... killer tool setup.
@MuvoTX The best Invicta diver I own is the F0066 model. Its 47.5mm at the bezel, it has a tough screw down crown, its has the Miyota 8215 movement. It looses one minute every 2.5 months. I own several high end watches that dont even come close. Its on Amazon, check it out...
@greekpapi Do you have the 6977 model? I do and I love it but for some reason my 1/10 second hand stops working after a few seconds after I reset the it. Not sure what the problem is but I think the watch is flawless other then that.
@lonepantherkmt I have 7-8 invicta watches, two of these 5017s and I am happy with them. They have been very reliable. One of them the GITD pip fell off the bezel. But given how abusive I have been with that watch and the price paid I really don't mind at all. That things been banged up and down waterslides, in/out of the sand and salt pacific ocean. Once the screw down crown came unscrewed in the ocean... I thought it was toast but its fine.
im looking for one of those exact russian divers you have know were i could pick one up real cheap .. i love the invictas i own the pro-diver my self and i dont have one bad thing to say about it i love them... very nice watches you got there... i enjoyed ure video .. thanks.
@101watchreviews There are 2 versions of the Quinotaur, now that Eyal has relocated manufacturing origins to Asia. The original "SWISS MADE" dial designations are somewhat harder to come by. I would suggest ebay, and ask the seller to send you detailed pictures of the dial. If it says "SWISS MADE" on the dial, expect to pay a little more than the Asian origin "SWISS MOV'T" models.
@101watchreviews ... furthermore, you can get the Asian "SWISS MOV'T" models just about anywhere. Many of the deal of the day sites and Amazon sell them for 70-$100.
@journeyquest1 My Citizen in the box is a $450 Titanium Aqualand depth gauge.... its a kick ass eco-drive. FAR better than the $50 Invicta in this review.... as well it should be.
Nice review. I have a 5017 which I got at Costco for 50 bucks as well. I love it because it looks good and costs nothing so I don't feel bad when I beat the hell out of it. About a year ago I was wearing it while swimming in an ice river with some friends. When we went home I noticed the crystal was fogged up and the hands were submerged yet still ticking! It took a few months to dry out and still hasn't ever had or needed service/repairs.
Welcome!! The uni directional bezel is used to count elapsed time. You align the "00" mark above the minute hand. From there you can easily tell how many minutes have elapsed from that time. Divers use it to tell how long they have been submersed.
Okay cool thanks. And one more quick question, I own a Trumbull Swiss Chrono. The problem is that I never heard of the company and i can't find any info on it have you ever heard of it??
No I have never heard of that brand. I did a word search on watchUseek and watchgeeks and both sites came up blank. I tried a google search and also came up with nothing.
Sorry... can you upload some pics to a host site and PM me the url links?
There is an automatic version of this watch. Its identical in every way except the case back is a little taller and uses a Miyota 8215 movement. The shipping box might be different too.
I appreciate your review. It was the first watch review that was easy to understand. Pacing was great (not too fast.. not too slow). I especially appreciate your comments in daily usage and owning the watch (the 5 in the morning 'lum' comment was the best. I just purchased the new bi-directional winding version of this watch with the full luminous disk background. You're inspiring me to try a over the shoulder camera review.. short and sweet. Make more comments about the manuals. Any typos?
Thanks!! Yeah the Pro Diver all-Lume is a HOT one. That one is on my want list. I missed out on the $78 SNBC blowout over the summer.
to be honest with you I didn't even read the manual. Its just a 3-hand Ronda movement and the only complication is the date. 1 pull out on the crown sets the date, 2 pulls out sets the time. Pretty simple.
19 Aug 2009 I understand. I asked about typos in the supplied literature because I used to do tech writing for Kodak. One of my Stührling watches has soooo many typos, I brought it to the attention of the company, saying it was a distraction to the quality they wish to show case.
I've always liked things that glow in the dark. So I can't wait to see my newest watch dish out the gentle glow soon.
Yeah,,, the lack of a screw down crown is my main complaint about an otherwise great watch.
I have taken this watch as deep as 2-3 Meters, and it survived just fine... are you sure you want to bet on that... if so I'll take you on for $1000.
Most dive watches have O-rings around the crown shafts to seal out the water. So the act of screwing down the crown... does not increase the WR rating of the watch. It just prevents it from accidental pull outs and rotation.
Costco was blowing them out at $45 a year ago. I picked up two of them. The one you see here, and a second one that I have mounted on a rubber dive strap. That one is one of my most comfortable watches. I now have owned this watch for a full year+ and it has never given me any problems.
A screw down crown has nothing to do with water resistance, it's just an added measure to prevent the crown from being easily pulled out and twisted or broken off incase of accidental bumping underwater. The water resistance is in the seals, or gaskets/o-rings, which this watch has around the crown tube, as any water resistant watch over 50m does. Just a bit of info for ya.
I picked up the same watch a few weeks back. I am looking to add a 22mm rubber strap to replace the stainless bracelet. Any idea what is involved in replacing the bracelet?
I just use a small flat tipped screwdriver to pry the spring bar open, gently pull the bracelet outward and it should pop right off. Use your finger to gently "hold" the bar to prevent it from shooting across the room.
I am also looking for a 22mm rubber strap for my second 5017...
I just got this watch for X-Mas. :) Everything is fine except that the clasp feels cheap and the ridges of the crown are sharp! After the end of the first day I wore this watch, I got mild, reddened abrasions on the back of my hand where crown came in contact with the skin. I had to file down the ridges to make it more comfortable. I can see why the price dropped from $300 MSRP<-laugh to $49 on sale at Costco. Is it worth $49? IMO, hell yeah! I agree with the OP.
Its not my camera work... the Lume on this watch really IS that good. I will post a Lume shoot-out video later today, comparing all my watches. I suspect the lume on this watch will be right up there with my Citizen Aqua-Land dive watch.
LOL thanks, yeah my collection was getting to be too much rolling around on my computer desk. My wife picked up the box at Kohls or TJ maxx (I can't remember) for around $20. There are much better and nicer collector boxes out there.
I am going to look a watch box i realy like the way it looks.now i need to get some more watches to as of now i just own 3 G shocks I need some nice bling blingers like you!
LOL... cant get enough BLING!! Flava FLAV in DA house!!
Nothing wrong with a G-shock... I have 3 myself. In fact, the ONLY watch I have NEVER-ever needed to touch, re-adjust or re-calibrate in any way shape or form is the solar Atomic-G you see in the vid. I place it on a windowsill every other week to re-calibrate and recharge and it just does the rest. IMHO no G-shock collection is complete without at least one solar-atomic.
yes i have an atomic solar G to i think its the same one i see in your box i love it i got it at costco a few years ago its never missed a beat.also got the new gulfman G shock online recently i thought it was atomic was a little bummed when i found out i got the wrong model it wasnt atomic but still really nice.have another solar g to.Ive been thinking about the new atomic pathfinder lately.

how can it be 200m WR if it is not a screw in crown? Invicta is a lier!! I'll bet it can't survive even at 1 meter deep.

Furtthermore I have several watches from various makers... I have never seen anything to prove Invicta is guilty of forging their WR ratings.
Openly speculating such wrong-doing as you have done only dis-credits your knowledge and integrity as a collector.
