I love the valve grinding bro, you did a great job. I would like to know what make and model your valve grinding machine is. I would love to find one.
mine had the seat replaced but the valve was not closing all the way so i had to grind the stem and lap the valve. It regained around 20psi so the engine ran 10x better after.
@30GB yeah with most of these L-heads they will almost always need a stem grind because they are set very close from factory, plus wear. I usually go for around 0.25mm or 0.10" and they sure do run much better after.
@enginemaniac314 hey i'm rebuilding a 12 hp briggs and i'm at the same spot you are at 3:04 and how did you get the crank shaft bolts out with out a 5 sided socket please let me know
@nick89gm If yours has funny bolts, it must be different to mine. This big end has standard 6 sided (hex) bolts with a locking plate (which I was bending away with the screwdriver at 3:09) try and use a star socket on yours if they are not hex bolts. I forgot what size mine were, sorry. Good luck mate and thanks for watching.
@Jivemaster2005 I did lightly hone it, I tried to show at 4:31 but the camera didn't pick it up. plus I had to re-use the original rings which were worn in already. thanks for commenting.
looks good mate! i like the valve grinder. wish i could afford one for my self but theres more important things on the list like a decent lathe lol. good to see someone taking the time to do it properly.
@Jaytheozzi yeah it is a nice grinder, my dad's work was actually gonna throw it in the bin! It was perfectly working and everything, just all the new kids there had no idea what it was or how to use it! That's how we got it for nothing.
what did you use to clean the engine with ? parafin?

No honing of the cylinder bore? the piston rings might harden and never "break" in
