  • this makes me lead to believe chemists are pyros.

  • Whats at 2:07 - 2:09 ?!

  • @ImChillin12 Bubbles of methane gas, you just pipe the methane into soapy water

  • Hitting a pumpkin with a hammer is NOT. A chemical reaction! :p

  • Nerd Porn!

  • That awkward moment when some of the clips are physical changes, not chemical.

  • Hydrogen walks into a bar and insults argon. How does he react? He doesn't.

  • Has any been able to figure out the name of the song?

  • Cool video but the "music" is making my butthole shiver. And not in the good way.

  • 1:55 DEAR LORD what was that one

  • 1:53???

  • I think I saw Meth being cooked in at least 3 of those shots.

  • that was awesome.....!

  • What was that chemical trick with the fire on the hand at 2.08

  • @Ghost572 It works with hand sanitizer, but IDK which one that was specifically.

  • redn... err, i mean geek rampage

  • The glass goes all soggy

  • btw. this video was featured on Daily Planet.

  • @2:38 when they smashed that candy, I was having a Homer Simpson moment... "This is not happening, this is not happening!"

  • @klesstwo i found ! it's  C12 H22 O11 + H2SO4 ---> sugar snake

  • MONTAGE!!!!!!

  • We need more elements!

  • fun.

  • Liquid nitrogen, dry ice, and glass melting are not chemical reactions.

I'm sorry to be such a nit-pick, but it was either post or go the rest of the day with a twitchy eye.

  • @HordrissTheConfuser Yes they are...

  • @templarknight7 Dry Ice and Liquid Notrogen are just being used to cool stuff down.here.

Glass making is a chemical reaction, glass melting is simply a change of state.

Physical changes like this are reversable.

  • IM SCIENCING AS FAST AS I CAN!

  • a lot of torches--must be doing a lot of crach in teh lab.. ;)

  • The music is so sick

  • fuck yeeeh science

  • @periodicvideos I am bored. It is many days since periodicvideos released its last video. Come on. We want a new video fast!

  • wtf at 1:25 ????

  • @adoliiii07 I am not Sure... but i THINK it is what you get for heating Sugar for a long time...

  • @adoliiii07 Everybody's favorite high-energy chemical reaction: THERMITE! Only it was set alight inside a pumpkin.

  • 10màp? :)

  • Two top comments are replies. Shit

  • I like

  • 1:05 is what I'm doing for new years eve. :)

    -Cary

  • this makes me feel rather atheist for some reasion

  • I LOLed at 1:25

  • @periodicvideos my fav element has to be florine. Its dangerous, its a gas. it reacts with almost everything

  • Science is cool! ;)

  • 0:05 is the sound that cthulu makes when you awaken him

  • No Hydrogen bomb???? I am disappoint...

  • So you're the guys who helped Iron Man with his palladium problems?

  • Exothermic reactions are my favourite :D

  • @ViralBR0

Wow, I think there just might be the tiniest bit of a compliment buried really deeply in there somewhere...

  • 1:26

    That is all.

  • damn, the guy at 2:07 was about to get raped....

  • Congratulations on being in the 2012 world records! Prof. P has a peice of hair that had the periodic table etched into it! It's on guinness world records page 166.

  • I smell Vsauce

  • what is the one at 0:33

  • it's very excited me. lol

  • lovely indeed

  • what is that thing at 3:12?

  • 4 WTF i need my chemistry teacher now >.<

  • Nice.

  • that could be a weird ass technoid music track with all the explosions and chemical explanations in the background :D i like it^^

  • whtas the title of that creepy music???

  • @periodicvideos I have some questions for you which I would like you to answer. I have mailed you at the test-tube@hotmail id but got no replies...where can I mail you now?

  • Ahh, I have chemistry next year... can't wait!

Last year one of my classmates lit a trash can on fire by accident, and that was in physics... Next year we might burn the building down! XD (accidentally of course...heh heh heh)

Merry Christmas and a happy new year to you all at Nottingham!

  • 1. If you guys were to write a book on these reactions/ on the elements themselves, I'm sure many people would buy it. I personally would love to read it!

    2. Thanks you, Brady and co, for a wonderfully insightful and informative year of chemistry: I wish you a fantastic Xmas and a brilliant 2012!

  • Merry Christmas, folks! And thanks for another year of sharing your passion for chemistry. I swear that if my teachers showed 10% the excitement that you folks do, I'd likely have taken MUCH more science than I did.

And one thing is for sure: this video shows me just how many of your videos I missed. I see I have some work to do.

Again, Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, and Thanks!

  • cool

  • HOLY SHIT! Im DEFINITELY taking chemistry next year!!!!

  • Never gets old.

  • Brady, are we ever going to get back to old school videos. i love when you and the professor visit places and have him teach something (mendeleev buisness card comes to mind as its the first i see in the recommended) but i really love the lower production value and style of the videos where you went through all the elements. i know youve done most you can, could you revisit some or start to go though some more terms, with a reaction to show with?

  • Neat

  • It would take you a while Brady, but you should put annotation links on each clip and link it to the video it's from

  • May I request the specific song you used by Vate? Thank you for amazing videos throughout this last year in which I discovered your channels, I enjoy all the information!

  • At 2:08 lady bruns her hand quickly. Could anyone tell me - what substance did she use, or what else could give me that effect? Thanks in advance.

  • @Bercik87 check periodicvideos[DOT]blogspot[DOT]com

  • @jerommeke69 thx!

  • @Bercik87 It's from the Molecular video, on Methane. She produces methane and bubbles it into a soap solution, then takes the soap bubbles on her hand and lights them. Pretty neat.

  • Whats happening at 1:25?

  • @CxRax Guys.....omg..lol...GUYS...my bad

  • awesome! :D very nicely put together! :)

  • @CxRax thats huys comment...lol...

  • fuuuuuuuuhhhh i wish i had their job!!

  • I am so going to the University of Nottingham! :Dx

  • Do you know what this video needs? This song as background music:

    watch?v=GGU1P6lBW6Q

  • hahaha!!

  • Good job, but I don't think pouring liquid nitrogen over a balloon constitutes as a "chemical reaction"

  • Sweet! That was so Fight Cluby

the first rule of fight club is you don't talk about it

But the first rule of Periodic videos is you do talk about it.

  • Well done, Brady. And quaxk, I don't see it s catering to the American viewer, unless it's a uniquely American thing to watch things go whooomph.

  • @quaxk screw this nationalistic crap. Why can't we just be humans on this wonderful, blue planet called Earth?

  • @913WildCat we're not all moronic yanks craving esplosions, fire and destruction, some of us are entertained by informative videos believe it or not

  • @quaxk

    Well well, someone has issues...

  • @quaxk We do like our big boo(bs)ms!

  • @quaxk A video with interesting chemical reaction, one after another is american? Thank you

  • @quaxk LOL, I saw a movie in (American) theaters, today. We love violence, bright colors, loud music and sound effects, and naked breasts. This is what I learned at the movie theater.

Also, not too complicated of a plot-- make sure there are good guys, and bad guys, and that the good guys always look and act like us. Can't have empathy for both sides.

I'm prob gonna write a blog post about my disgust for my culture's entertainment tastes. (Kinda just did, in this comment.)

  • @quaxk Why are all Brits so jealous of Americans? Its so sad that in almost every video I see that is related to England and America, the English complain about Americans. You guys are fucking retarded. (let the flame begin)

  • @TheAzeex

I believe she's French, which would mean that the nasty attitude she exhibits is in-born.

Gee, did I just do the same to her as she did to Americans?

  • @TheAzeex We're not really complaining it's just a bit of friendly banter, 'taking the piss' if you will (think Top Gear). We're just joking around for the purposes of entertainment but it doesn't always translate very well over the internet.

  • @quaxk yeah, judging a ton of people based on what country they're from. congratulations, Brady would be proud.

  • Spoilers!!!!!!! ah

  • AWSOME!

  • I like the part where the chemicals react.

  • Thumbs up if this was you first term taking chemistry and you thought you were gonna fail but passed with a C so u danced

  • @smsj1000 hahhhaaahahahahahahah.....lmaoo..

  • Extremely satisfying and rather enjoyable!

  • lovely

  • i. love. chemistry. and. speaking. in. one. word. sentences. which. is. really. annoying.

  • Which video is 3:17 from?

  • @lowlypawn its the one about silver.

  • You put a massive amount of work into that. I saw this was a compilation video and wondered if there were links to the videos. And there are. Thanks, so many of those I've not seen yet (I'm a relatively new sub). You rock so much! Incredible amount of effort. :)

  • Thank you Brady and the guys (and gals of course) at the University of Nottingham for providing yet another wonderful year of scientific videos. I am looking forward to seeing another great year of videos from all of your channels, Brady. I wish you all joyous holiday cheer and a great new year.

  • @grndmstrjoe thank you very much

  • 2:43 poor Neil hahaha

  • CHEMISTRY AT ITS BEST!!!

    HAPPY CHRISTMAS!

  • Would be 20% cooler with the chemical equations on the side or something. Anyways It's a lovely video, Merry Christmas!

  • nice video,

merry christmas and a happy new year..

    also greetings from nuremberg, germany

  • Thank you for all the thank yous!

And the marvelous video, into favourites she goes!

  • Science in action.

  • You're videos have been intriguing and insightful since I started watching them my sophomore year of high school! I would love to be able to work in a lab with such inspiring professors as yourselves someday. Hope you have happy holidays!

    -a UCSB chem major

  • 1:26 wth is that!

  • @tradecycles CHEMISTRY

    (more precisely - carbon xd)

  • @tradecycles Sulphuric acid and sugar.

  • Aren't some of these physical changes (like freezing) not chemical reactions?

  • @wyvernlord23

    SSSSHHHHH!!!

    Don't give away the secrets!

  • Periodicvideos + theslowmoguys would be f ing epic!

  • Epic video, good job guys!

  • Feels like an Aphix Twins video. Love it

  • Eeevilll soundtrack.

  • I think you guys should do video about, Avogadros constant, Mole, Molar mass and amount of substance and explain their uses etc..

  • Merry Christmas guys, love the video!

  • Merry Christmas and a happy New Year! Chemistry is awesome, I currently study Applied Science so there is enough room for me to experiment!

  • What is the squirting fire from at 1:46?

I watched both Carbon Dioxide under a coin and Musket Firing but neither had that.

    Thanks.

  • @KamekoBruns zinc? the full list is at the blog link because YouTube did not privide enough room for EVERY link!

  • Fantastic editing!

  • @ThatOneSkinnyGuy thank you

  • Best Video Ever...

  • Hello brady! I have loved your videos since I found them! But, I am after all a sixteen year old girl, so chemistry is not my only interest. I also love bunnies, and now my dearest bunny buckyballs (aka. C60, a round black bunny just like the molecule), is pregnant. I need eight names that are cute enough for small baby bunnies and chemistry related! Maybe you and everybody in the videos could do one on pet names for aspiring chemists?

I promise to call one Neil!

    A reply would be appreciated!

  • You guys are as crazy as I am.

  • "we need more elements..."

    Ohh yeah!

  • And a Merry Christmas to you Brady!

  • really Lovely..

  • We need more elements!

  • Ahhh science, how boring life would be without it!

  • I saw the reaction on Neil's face, shaking his head. Inside he's amused and thinking, "Someday I'll show them the kind of explosion I can make."

  • Hummm, as a mechanical engineer, I have to think that for each reaction, there is an equal and opposite reaction... so how do you turn fire and explosions back into their pre-reacted elements... That would be cool...

  • @acev1per And as a mechanical engineer, you should also appreciate that the "equal and opposite reaction" phrase is just a bastardisation of Newton's third law.

  • @Halo3ForumEurope I don't remember learning that in my 12 years of post secondary education. You would think someone with a PhD would know that Newton's third law had extramerital sex with the english language to produce this "bastard" of a phrase...

  • I love PeriodicVideos :)

  • @MoeMonkey78 why thank you!

  • awesome!

  • As good as MythBusters

  • wow some of those i swear i havent seen and others i remember from long ago... and i thought i had seen all of your videos.

  • So far only one completely hopeless person has seen this video so far. I'm more amazed by that than most (though not all) chemical reactions...

  • @periodicvideos Shall I suggest you something? For each reaction you show in this video, why not also show the name of the video with it, so that we can avail of better reachability? In fact, you could post links too!

  • @siddharthas6895 good suggestion... and such a list of links exists in the full description below the video!!! It took me ages and breaks my heart that you didn't see it! :)

  • @periodicvideos Oops! Sorry!

  • @periodicvideos You are awesome Brady. Have a good weekend!

  • @periodicvideos I saw it right away Brady. (It is kind of obvious). Awesome work. Thanks so much for all your hard work. These videos are fantastic!

  • Cheers and Thanks! A colleague from Buenos Aires, Argentina :)

  • Brady, you're such a pyromaniac.

    Thank you for that. :)

  • Lovely (Y)

  • Lots and lots of editing for that video! Great Job Brady!

  • @boldger13 cheers, glad you appreciated it!

  • Just got back from medlink at nottingham, the medical based course for people doing A-levels, nottingham university is amazing!
