  • Can't believe it been since 1992 that Harry Ray passed away. Man you don't know how much I enjoyed listening to the Moments/Ray-Goodman& Brown and still do. Also Rip Al Goodman

  • They are a wonderful group and a lot of their best material is the unknown stuff.. A few Harry Ray tracks I've really been digging are "So In Love" and "Finally Found Us," both written by my friend Ray Dahrouge

  • @PJDooWop please put in "the" in front of the moments in the title, because when i searched "the moments with love" I couldn't find this

  • Thanks for the heads up. I'll update this

  • The Moments are that rare group that had the ability to record hit after hit after hit. Thank you Ray Goodman and Brown !!

  • ok, this doesn't fit with this song, but The Moments did a song and the hook was "Do It Do It Do yeah background "Do It baby. Can't nobody move me can't nobody do me like you do. I can't remember the name of the song I thought it was Do It, but all I find is I Do and it's a different song by them it was fast paceed faster than Sexy Mama. HELP!

  • @kaylakylie2 the song you may be thinking of is,Do it Baby,by the Miracles(after SMOKEY)

  • @kaylakylie2 theres quite a few moments songs that havent made it to you tube yet,i cant recall the one your talkin about but i'll search for it

  • This song (along with Al Green's "Let's Stay Together") was one of the first records I played on the stereo I got for Christmas in 1971.

Al Goodman and Harry Ray, you are gone but never forgotten!

  • These guys made the most romantic music ever!

  • Goodbye to one very good song writer, and singer......He will be joining Harry Ray ...God Bless both of them, they left us some rememberable music. Real lowriders will always remember going down Crenshaw Blv. blowing the Moments !!!! Farewell Al Goodman

  • WE're slowly losing all the greats. But their music lives in our ears and in our souls.

  • J DILLA 1974 - FOREVER!!!!

  • R.I.P. Al Goodman, we are losing all the old standard bearers. There will never be music like this again.

  • RIP Al Goodman. Although this was one of the Moments more obscure songs, it is one of my favorites. In remembrance of Mr. Goodman, I will spotlight it on my channel. Thanks for the music. Peace.

  • Amen to that lowrider. My channel is a testament to the fact that a record didn't have to be a hit to be good. RIP Al Goodman

  • RIP Al Goodman of The Moments..7.30.2010...always The Moments to me...he joins Harry Ray as an angel singing in heaven...

  • Amen moosey... RIP Al Goodman

  • Goodbye to the truly wonderful Al Goodman, who passed today, July 26, 2010. You will never be gone from our hearts..

  • @TemptinTina1 I'm terribly sad at the news. You were the first to tell me

  • A song from the old school that shows a man who truly loves and looks forward to life with his soulmate ...sung with raw honesty and longing...Take me back to the "good ole' days"LOL

  • Madlib sampled this joint too. Off of his king of the wigflip album. I believe the song is called Life with karriem riggins

  • This is by far one of the sickest soul songs, and thanks to j dilla its also part of rap, man the music today sucks!

  • @ninjadarookie you Wish! who told you to come here! its not for you anyway? get me.

  • @Winter412 who are you? and where the hell did you crawl out of? what isnt for me? told me to go where? WOW you need some help. Dont make me school you on soul music, you will feel real stupid!

  • Hearing the original gives a whole new context to the Dilla beat. Makes me sad...

I could swear I heard this sampled on another song. Can't figure it out. "That's all I'm gonna do... that's all I can do" looped over and over or during a chorus...

Does that sound familiar to anyone? It's really bugging me.

  • DILLA BROUGHT SOOO MUCH SOOOULLL TO THIS>>>HEAVEN BLESS the composers and the remixers for capturin and bringin such beautiful malodies and essence of it (dilla...)

  • go head on Harry Ray!!!! a time when MEN made records..Bravo!!

  • Harry Ray, putting it down, these brothers could blow!!!

  • Is there any instrumental version to this song?

  • Harry Ray just gettin down with his bad self..

  • Thought I knew all of The Moments songs. Wow! This is a jam. Thanks for this

  • I am so blessed to have this copy in my collection!!!

  • This is one of the great songs that has endless possibilities. One of the many things I love about Hip-Hop...is that many different producers can take the same song and flip it in many different ways.

  • wow i just stumbled across this! shit dilla used this to sample last donut of the night!

  • Need help finding a song. Not sure if it was the moments. Lyrics : I just wanna stay...and all i wanna do ...is spend my life with you.

    Help.

  • !971 was the pinnacle for soul groups. All the singing groups had hits. This is one of them

  • J Dilla sampled this on his beat ''Last Donut of the Night'' on his album ''Donuts''

    R.I.P. J Dilla

    (I like this song now)

  • @MrTwo7even best dilla beat ever..hes pure genius

  • Love most of the Moments (RGB) ballads. I'm looking (have been for about 10 years) a song, sorry, cant recall the title but am certain it's by the moments. the lyrics include something like this:

"baby i don't like you even though I love you, I know that you're cheating on me and you're still making love to me"

    anyone?

  • I got this! I had forgotten about it, since my record player broke. Thanks so much for bringing back the memories. Peace.

  • HOW DO I GET THIS SONG!?!

  • You can find the 45 on Ebay for about $10 (granted they're not strange one sided copies like mine). The stereo mix is available on their Love On A Two Way Street CD.

  • djdoowop, thanks for posting this lovely song !!! this is one of my alltime favorite songs. i got married at city hall, if i could do it all over again, it would be in a big church with all our family & friends. when i hear this song and look at my beautiful wife, this would be the ultimate first dance song as newlyweds. " i walk up to the preacher man, jest to take your lovely hand " wow, thanks again, long live the oldies. kenny sr. from philly.

  • This is one of the ultimate wedding songs.. The production and lyrics put it all together perfectly. I'm not sure why Stang never pushed it as an A-side. The strange one sided copy I own makes me think that they were considering making it an A-side, but that never happened.

  • That really is such a beautiful comment! Love and respect to you!

  • My sentiments exactly.

  • Smooth and nice!!!

  • : ) woooooaooooo

    c'est pas nouveau !!!

    mais ça pête

    : )

  • Very nice indeedy :D

  • Oh Yeah Very Nice....thanks for this Sweet Share soulsupremeful...

  • Thank you for listening and sharing :)

  • Wonderful Post My Friend :-)

  • One of the best

  • wow, wow !!

    much LOVE poster:)

  • J DILLA CHANGED MY LIFE

  • This shit makes me tear up....

First off, beautiful song by The Moments...Secondly, wonderful use of a sample by Dilla. And the fact that THIS is the last joint on 'Donuts" makes it that more heart-wrenching.

  • Dilla did a great job sampling this. He took a masterpiece by the Moments and turned it into his own masterpiece. When I found the record sampling was one of the first things that came to mind. After I found out Dilla messed with this I scrapped the idea.. Can't touch Dilla

  • the last song off Donuts was "Welcome to the Show" the sample was from a song called "When I Die" by Motherlode. now THAT is heart-wrenching.

  • To each his own I suppose. I stand by my comment.

  • DILLA. RIP

  • Fantastic!

  • PJ, I may be able to shed a bit of light on this. You have a very rare copy from what I understand. The Moments did release this as a "B" side: i can't help it / to you with love ...........Stang 5020.........almost looks like a "personal" pressing, doesn't it?

  • I was thinking along those lines. One sided promos were popular in the 70's.. Either a pressing plant worker could have screwed up and pressed up the wrong side or this could have been done intentionally. This isn't Stang 5020, it's Stang 5033. The A-side of this is Key To My Happiness. I'm surprised they never released this as an a-side. They liked it enough to use as a flip more than once

  • J Dilla!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i've tried lookin for a download for this song, but i couldn't find it anywhere,is there anyway i can get the mp3 download from u??

  • A True Classic

  • Thanks for the comment

  • Nice find! I don't know why did they put one-sided 45 of that song. That was so weird. A B-side song on a one-sided 45, very funny. Remember when all 78 RPM records used to have one song on a single side? That goes way back to the early 1900's when Victor released one-sided records before the put in a double-sided record.

  • Yes, I've seen a good number of the one sided Victors as well as early "embossed" stuff like Berliner, early Edison, etc.

  • Definitely a rarity. I've seen 1-sided records and white label test presses but not on the same record, and to boot it is the b-side? I think the guy running the press was messing around. Nice one!

  • That's what I'm thinking happened as well. Plant workers have been known to do some interesting things in their spare time or when the plant managers weren't looking.

  • Like all those colored vinyl 45's Tefteller has that came from a guy who worked as a presser. Every record he dug he'd do up his own personal one off. Off the charts values on those.

  • Exactly. Tefteller had pictures of them on his site at one point. I wonder if they're still there. The most interesting were the multicolor copies. The guy was cutting vinyl buscuits in half and throwing them in the mold. That process ended up producing some very cool looking records.

  • this is definitely music to listen to with the blue colored lights on!!!

  • this is true

  • I agree. Thank you

  • I think it was pressed that way by mistake, an error, simple, or maybe someone did it on purpose for God knows why..... but mistakes always happen, as you know.

  • A mistake such as this would be truly bizarre. Not only is the A-side "blank" (it does have grooves but the audio content is nonsense) but it has a white label. Maybe Stang decided to try and push this as an A-side as an afterthought? In that case this would have a promo label. Spending the money to press a stock copy of a b-side record that you never intended to sell isn't logical. Like you said, mistakes happen and there's more to this story that probably only the plant workers know.

  • My older sister used to play this song !

  • She has good taste in music
