Mine is stainless...I had a colt officer model 3.5 inch barrel years ago and traded off..This is the closet I could find to replace it and its a great well made best carry gun ever in 45 acp..
If you dont like the price of Kimber or the quality of the weapon, their accessories, etc, then why the hell did you bother to buy one? Kimber is like the Bently of the firearms world... You get what you pay for. The Kimber price = the quality workmanship put into the weapon.

Those wilson mags are meant for extended flared magwell adapters. You ought to put one on your Kimber it would look better and it will hide the unfinished mag bottom...

@1911ES1 go to clips and mags.com , they're about $20 cheaper ANYWHERE ELSE for the same thing! the magazines are 7 rounders- they make thicker bumper pas or thinner or flat metal, I own the thickest and have been very happy!
I own the silver and rosewood ( ok, it looks like rosewood, don't know what wood it actually is ) version of this gun and I love it. It's got a dark frame finish and dull silver finish on the slide, can't remember the name of that style. I guess you could call it two tone

Smith and Wesson used to make parts for this gun, they no longer do.Its cheaper made and i had to send mine back to Kimber for extraction problems.I ve shot 5 different hardball loads and all failed in this gun. If it still doesn't shoot worth a shit when i get it back, im going to a subcompact colt! Awe full high price for an undependable firearm. I will post here to let you know hw things turn out.

Hey Pete, I've been watching your vids for probably a year now. Good stuff, and you keep things intersting, props for that.
I bought a Kimber cdp 2, 4 inch barrel i liked it alot, i was out shopping for a kimber raptor 2, 5 inch stainless. but got the cdp instead. finally after about 6 months i found the raptor and did a trade out plus an extra $200 bucks and got the raptor. absolutely beautiful gun but it did cost $1400. that part sucked, but worth it i think.
Hey Pete, My cousin just got a Wilson Combat that crazy bastard. The magazines have that unfinished look because most Wilson Combats have a speed sheet so magazines rest deeper inside the magazine well. If u have a 1911 that does not have that beaveled mag well then u have to buy a low profile wilson combat magazine and the mag wont show. But those mags are awesome and the 1911's wilson combat make or should I use the consumer makes are freaken awesome.

You ever considered looking into a Para Ordinance Warthog or Nighthog 1911? Small carry option, It takes a double stack 10+1 45ACP magazing. What do you think of Para?
dude definetly get the crimson trace... they are expensive but worth every penny.... if i could i'd get it for all my carry guns...i would... i have it on the springfield xd40 sub and i can only imagine that it would really be helpful in a combat situation.... i cant imagine anyone using the guns sight in a combat situation....
Nice vid! My 1st 1911 was a Kimber UC just like the one in this vid. I've since moved up to a Kimber Tactical Ultra Carry. Check it out f you get the chance, but be careful: If you hold it for too long, it will come home with you. That gun rocks, too! The mag well also helps to hide that metal strip on the bottom of the Wilson Mags that you mentioned.
I am not a fan of the two-tone guns either. With the grips, they end up looking like a three tone gun. I have a Kimber Tactical Pro 2 that was a two-tone gun, but I had it cerekoted all black and it looks great.
That is a beautiful firearm. I wish I could get newer Kimbers in MA but im in such a shitty state for firearms i can't get anything nice =( hope your enjoying it.
funny cause i just bought the same exact gun from my local gun store just last week also. It was used so i brought it home and cleaned it immediately. The fit and finish is second to none and when i went to the range it shot perfectly. Fed hollow points perfectly and everything. Its also accurate as hell. By far one of the nicest carry pieces some one can have!! ps, laser grips arent worth the extra 300 but the night sights are the best investment you can make imho
I rented an ultra carry 2 at my gun range and put 30 rounds through it. It misfired a few times and the muzzel flip surprised me. Even with the muzzel flip it was balls on accurate. With the night sights it sells for north of $800 + tax. The gun looks and feels great. Looking forward to a range report and follow up video.
On a recent trip to Texas, I shot a couple of Kimbers in 45 acp. The full size and the Custom Carry short barrel. They Both shot great and we were shooting at 50+ yards. Very impressive.

Hey Pete. I almost got one of these a while back. The reason that I didn't is the aluminum frame. I had a Pro Carry II...and had some problems with it. I replaced it with the Pro Carry II HD, which has a steel frame and am much happier with that one. It came with the iron sights...but I upgraded to the Meprolight sights and they are the shit!

Hey Pete, Kimber jus released their Ultra carry's in TLE (Tactical Law Enforcement) Their all steel. Thinking of trading mine for one, these little 1911's have a bit of kick to em as expected, the extra weight would be helpful.
Nice gun as a "consolation prize", I guess you might say. The Ultra Carry II is bad ass. You are going to dig on that gun. And you're right about the Wilson Combat magazine.....it is a little lacking in the finished look department. But they rock for endurance and dependability. I got Wilson Combat mags for my Springfield 1911 Loaded (the stock Springfield mags are the biggest hunks of shit I've ever seen).
That DE was badass man. Sorry it didn't work out. I can understand how frustrated and disappointed you would be if it wasn't performing how you expected after dropping so much cash on it. I myself would be PISSED. Hope you make a video ranting about it though as I'd like to hear what happened.

KIMBER ULTRA CARRY II ... that is a real nice and very practical gun. Lot's of .45 ammo out there. Those novelty guns like the DE, they are ridiculous when you think about it, and the ammo situation with them, the .. forget it.
you should go ahead and buy a RIA 1911 dude. they are made in the phiipines by a company called armescore.they are NOT made like a lot of chinese gear, you should try them out.

I had an instructor one time tell us that he did not allow any 1911 on his range if it didn't rattle when you shook it.
Tight tolerances are great when talking about race guns with specific ammo, but when dealing with a combat pistol you want it to be a little loose within reason. Once that gun starts to heat up and the carbon begins to build up the tolerances are going to get even tighter.
I'm anxious to hear what you think of the recoil too.
This is a much better gun the the Desert Eagle. The DE is nothing but a blockey piece of shit that you can't use for anything but shooting targets. The recoil is insane , and it serves no real purpose.
Pete, i own and carry daily my Kimber Ultra Carry II. its a great gun but theres a caveat, it MUST be broken in to be 100% reliable (300 to 400 rounds). it is almost guaranteed it will jam a few times until broken in. also, mine tends to like to run a little wet on the oil. and ive got the crimson grips on mine and theyre awesome. i hope this helps bro.

Don't let this get you down, I bought BFR revolver in 454 and ended up selling it. Another big gun you should look at is a hk Mark 23; its 45 acp, long barrel, and you would save big $ on ammo b/c you already shoot 45 a lot. Kimber is one sweet gun, have fun!

Hey Pete, I've been watching your vids for probably a year now. Good stuff, and you keep things intersting, props for that.
I bought a Kimber cdp 2, 4 inch barrel i liked it alot, i was out shopping for a kimber raptor 2, 5 inch stainless. but got the cdp instead. finally after about 6 months i found the raptor and did a trade out plus an extra $200 bucks and got the raptor. absolutely beautiful gun but it did cost $1400. that part sucked, but worth it i think.

Hey Pete, My cousin just got a Wilson Combat that crazy bastard. The magazines have that unfinished look because most Wilson Combats have a speed sheet so magazines rest deeper inside the magazine well. If u have a 1911 that does not have that beaveled mag well then u have to buy a low profile wilson combat magazine and the mag wont show. But those mags are awesome and the 1911's wilson combat make or should I use the consumer makes are freaken awesome.

dude definetly get the crimson trace... they are expensive but worth every penny.... if i could i'd get it for all my carry guns...i would... i have it on the springfield xd40 sub and i can only imagine that it would really be helpful in a combat situation.... i cant imagine anyone using the guns sight in a combat situation....

Nice vid! My 1st 1911 was a Kimber UC just like the one in this vid. I've since moved up to a Kimber Tactical Ultra Carry. Check it out f you get the chance, but be careful: If you hold it for too long, it will come home with you. That gun rocks, too! The mag well also helps to hide that metal strip on the bottom of the Wilson Mags that you mentioned.

I am not a fan of the two-tone guns either. With the grips, they end up looking like a three tone gun. I have a Kimber Tactical Pro 2 that was a two-tone gun, but I had it cerekoted all black and it looks great.

funny cause i just bought the same exact gun from my local gun store just last week also. It was used so i brought it home and cleaned it immediately. The fit and finish is second to none and when i went to the range it shot perfectly. Fed hollow points perfectly and everything. Its also accurate as hell. By far one of the nicest carry pieces some one can have!! ps, laser grips arent worth the extra 300 but the night sights are the best investment you can make imho

I rented an ultra carry 2 at my gun range and put 30 rounds through it. It misfired a few times and the muzzel flip surprised me. Even with the muzzel flip it was balls on accurate. With the night sights it sells for north of $800 + tax. The gun looks and feels great. Looking forward to a range report and follow up video.

On a recent trip to Texas, I shot a couple of Kimbers in 45 acp. The full size and the Custom Carry short barrel. They Both shot great and we were shooting at 50+ yards. Very impressive.

Hey Pete. I almost got one of these a while back. The reason that I didn't is the aluminum frame. I had a Pro Carry II...and had some problems with it. I replaced it with the Pro Carry II HD, which has a steel frame and am much happier with that one. It came with the iron sights...but I upgraded to the Meprolight sights and they are the shit!

Hey Pete, Kimber jus released their Ultra carry's in TLE (Tactical Law Enforcement) Their all steel. Thinking of trading mine for one, these little 1911's have a bit of kick to em as expected, the extra weight would be helpful.

Nice gun as a "consolation prize", I guess you might say. The Ultra Carry II is bad ass. You are going to dig on that gun. And you're right about the Wilson Combat magazine.....it is a little lacking in the finished look department. But they rock for endurance and dependability. I got Wilson Combat mags for my Springfield 1911 Loaded (the stock Springfield mags are the biggest hunks of shit I've ever seen).

That DE was badass man. Sorry it didn't work out. I can understand how frustrated and disappointed you would be if it wasn't performing how you expected after dropping so much cash on it. I myself would be PISSED. Hope you make a video ranting about it though as I'd like to hear what happened.
That compact kimber is so cool man, I live up in Canada and we can't have small guns like that, I would love to get one though.

KIMBER ULTRA CARRY II ... that is a real nice and very practical gun. Lot's of .45 ammo out there. Those novelty guns like the DE, they are ridiculous when you think about it, and the ammo situation with them, the .. forget it.

Pete, you have sure built up some tension amongst your viewers with this DE issue.
If you are unable to elaborate on the reasons you got rid of it, maybe you should not have mentioned it at all.
But anyways, the DE looks like a nasty bit of gear to me and it's not something I'd ever yearn for.
I have a Kimber stainless .38 super and its one of my favourites...nicer than my G17 but love it too. Kimber make a nice handgun and your new ultra carry II looks awesome. Keep up the good reviews!

dang, too bad the de didn't work out. DE is one of my fantasy guns. I really want one, but don't think i'll ever get one due to the high price of the gun and ridiculous price of the ammo. Good luck with the kimber. I just picked up an EMP that looks just like it, except my slide is stainless.

I had an instructor one time tell us that he did not allow any 1911 on his range if it didn't rattle when you shook it.
Tight tolerances are great when talking about race guns with specific ammo, but when dealing with a combat pistol you want it to be a little loose within reason. Once that gun starts to heat up and the carbon begins to build up the tolerances are going to get even tighter.
I'm anxious to hear what you think of the recoil too.

This is a much better gun the the Desert Eagle. The DE is nothing but a blockey piece of shit that you can't use for anything but shooting targets. The recoil is insane , and it serves no real purpose.

Pete, i own and carry daily my Kimber Ultra Carry II. its a great gun but theres a caveat, it MUST be broken in to be 100% reliable (300 to 400 rounds). it is almost guaranteed it will jam a few times until broken in. also, mine tends to like to run a little wet on the oil. and ive got the crimson grips on mine and theyre awesome. i hope this helps bro.

Don't let this get you down, I bought BFR revolver in 454 and ended up selling it. Another big gun you should look at is a hk Mark 23; its 45 acp, long barrel, and you would save big $ on ammo b/c you already shoot 45 a lot. Kimber is one sweet gun, have fun!
