MLB wasn't grunge. They did have a psychedelic alternative vibe about them at times but they were very much a glam rock band. Andy's philosophy on things was 180 degrees from his friends and peers in Soundgarden, Alice, Nirvana and the type of band MLB went on to become as Pearl Jam. If there was any real and true Rock N Roll Martyr to come out of Seattle it was Andy Wood not Kurt or Layne.
I once heard Eddie Veddar in an interview say something about a song that MLB had done that had touched him pretty deeply, I think he said he'd like to sing it someday. Is this that song? I kinda had my own guesses, this was up there obviously. Anyone ever hear that interview/remember it and or hear him elaborate on which song it was?
Yeah, I thought it was Stargazer, too, but after hearing to an old taped radio interview again, it's indeed Man of Golden Words. I wonder why he liked it so much??
I wish i wish i could have a time machine a experience all thing Grunge. go to Seattle and see Mother Love Bone , Nirvana, Alice In chains ect....FUCK YEAH........i want it all want it all back... RIP Andrew Wood and Kurt Cobain, both brought Grunge to another lever... RIP all Grunge bands they still will always live in me.

It's 'Man of Golden Words'.

That was my original guess! it seemed to fit more then this tune...thank you! That has been on my mind for years!!!
taylorhippie 4 years ago
You're welcome. Your original guess was better than mine because I originally thought it was Stargazer. lmao!
driftaway3 4 years ago
I remember Vedder saying that too but I thought it was Stargazer... All MLB songs were good though(as few as there were unfortunately)

I guess that was just me projecting the song I liked onto Eddie. Someday a band will cover a MLB song and have a hit. mark my words.

Well Temple of the Dog also got their name from Man of Golden Words.
And also this video should just be called Crown of Thorns, they don't play Chloe Dancer

why do you even have to say that? They were both great but obviously Nirvana had a greater impact.

This comment has received too many negative votes show
Oh yeah...and Kurt was better looking. Sorry,I just had to say that.
plaguedbyurkiss 4 years ago
well, MLB could have been as big as Nirvana, we'll never know, because Andrew died in '88, before grunge was popular
