I can't believe how much it costs to swap cams and heads on a termi! So much. A H/CI on an LS will net you a ton of power for 1/4 of the price of the same mods on a termi. Then again, the termi's come ready for a fuckload of boost?.. pick your poison. If you get an LS to hold the same boost as a termi, it's a bad day to drive one of the best mustangs ever built.
this coming from a long time street racing enthusiast,instead of buying twin turbos for your ford try investing in a KB and nitrous,then and only then will you have a chance against a modded GM!!! the twin turbo only gives u the advantage if you are racing a mile or longer bc that is where they make their boost is on top end....just sayin....Nice cars tho,all of them and I too give respect to cobras!!
i know a guy with single turbo and he makes over 700hp and 700tq actually he makes 702hp and over 700tq to be exact and i know he ran mid 10s at 132mph
im not talking mess about either kb cobra or ta but i find it hard to believe that a hellion tt cobra lost to either, they'd give bus links and still win
@ninjameana70 haha i agree but if you look closely at the TT cobra it loses at the jump and through most of the race but towards the end it starts pulling on the KB...slowly haha you have to look real close though.
@07Timl There is now, (runs 9.6's the last time I seen it out, but was a mid to high 10 car in this vid) but at the time it was full bolt ons, cam and spray. That car is nasty on the hit...........and he jumped the gun a little ;)
@07Timl yeah i think the heads were ported too. im sure he was making in some wher around 420-440 rwhp on motor plus the 105 on nitrous so 550 rwhp vs kb cobra making about the same and 200-300 lb more on the cobra so its bout right. amybe the cobra is pushin 600 but you could be right on the t/a maybe geared too that helps alot.
@TheMrhoneycutt Actually HE CAN DRIVE. You see the Twin Turbos lag like a bitch & they are for REALLY HIGH RPMS & youll see no boost in lower RPMS. Meanwhile with the Kenne Bell Supercharger you have INSTANT boost.
That's exactly whey I went with a KB over a turbo. Its hard to get a manual equipped turbo cobra to perform the way it should on the street. When the turbo car is dialed in right, its hard to beat.

also, what were the boost levels on the cobras? cause a SC car drops off hp levels in high rpms while the turbo is right at home, so the TT cobra should be pulling especially on the highway, none the less good vid
Nitrous haters are lame.. Its a power adder... Just like s/c and turbos.. It's not cheating and when your bottle is empty you just fill it back up. My motor was built for nitrous.. RUN WHAT YOU BRUNG, Get a bigger s/c or nitrous instead of whining..

your welcome anytime. And as for the TT cobra. you have a choice with the system to use the SC. If he would have left it on he woulda won no doubt. Just because the SC eliminates the lag between the shifts.
here is my two cents. Venting to atmosphere is only needed if the car is tuned for it. If its not then everytime it blows off the car will run fat everytime you shift. You can lose half a second in the 1320 if you dont tune for it. A problem with most drivers with turbo'd cars. You dont want lag??? Brake boost. All cars in this vid is bad ass. I want to know what was done to the second ta in the vid.
you guys do make a good point about the ta gettin a jump. but.... lets compare these cars to each other and what they have done and the ta is clearly the most stock form of all by far.. end of point being if the ta had a turbo it would be game over....
Yeah the spool on the a turbo car is usually the biggest downfall, but if you use a recirculating BOV you won't lose boost between shifts. Most people don't use them cause they are more expensive, and they don't sound as "cool" as a regular BOV.

I have a bottle in my Stang. But a buddy has a TT 300ZX. He used to have regular BOV's now he is running recirculating BOV's. I don't know all the info about them but have seen how they can affect the performance of a car. If I were going turbo'd instead of bottled I would definitely go recirculating. I like the sound of them also.
Eh man, most people won't admit it but a ported eaton with spray will abuse a twinscrew cobra. and as far as turbo cobra's... you need an auto to get the most out of it, and for the track a solid rear, THEN it will be faster, but best bang for your buck IMO is a Steig stage 5, 100 shot, 2.93 w 4 lb lower, you'll be faster than 95% of the cars on the street.
LOL well cams play a huge part when it comes to racing... whether mild or pro race cam. And also nitrous is gonna work a lot better in a race than a blower or turbo. Just because its a direct shot of power rather than having a lag on turbo's or the belts on a blower.

Twin turbo cobra's are most of the time slower then kenne bell cobra's until higher speeds like 130-140. That race vs the TA was such bs though, he started ahead and got a jump on the other two on top of that..... fail by all.

Must be low boost on the TT's or something because those HP 57mm's are nasty as hell and should have no problem with upper 600s on low boost and much more with higher. That KB was impressive. Even w/ twin 57mm turbos he is maxing at ~high 500 low 600 rwhp. a well tuned H/C/I ls1 is easily in the mid 600 rwhp range, add a 150shot and you have a beast on the road. dont get me wrong you can get a stang to go fast as fuck and cobras deserve respect, but for my money the ls1 is a better platform to make ridiculous #'s and speed

@Lawgiver45 the Texas speed camaro makes 637 rwhp: stock ls1 bottom end, MS4 cam, PRC 215cc heads FAST 92mm intake PTM 95mm TB ans TSP 100mm MAF no spray, not sure on the gear ratio. upgrade to a fast 104mm system and you would gain about 15rwhp. watabing watabang a H/C/I ls1 that makes mid 600 rwhp.
@Lawgiver45 with the cam that LS was running i would see 450 horse, just cam. with the supporting mods i could see low 500s. not 600. BUT! the only part on the bottom end of an [LS1] capable of holding the compression of a nitrous shot and power from cams would be the crankshaft. and that gets sketchy around 700hp. the biggest cam for an LS1 with stage 2.5 LS6 heads and 102 Mani, 102 TB, 99mm MAF would touch on 550 to 580. a 150 shot ontop of that would be dangerous to a stock bottom end.
@csgtfaught hmmm... high 500-low600 rwhp? actually twin 57's with a good fuel setup and good tune can get that car to 900 rwhp easy... there are actually plenty of stock bottom end 03-04 cobras on here with well over 750 rwhp with the TT setup
@probercr93 maybe 700 with 17-20 psi from 57mm's, now if it were a larger turbo set up, and you push closer to 28+ psi you are looking at 900rwhp but even a twin turbo set up will have some lag when you go that big. That seemed to be this cobra's weakness, looked like it took it real long to build boost; one reason im partial to s/c if you go forced induction. I would not want to chance putting more than 25psi through 57mm turbos, especially on that motor, just asking for something to break.
@csgtfaught no way... maybe you don't realize but each 57mm turbo is capable of over 500whp if you're boosting a stock cobra 4.6 20 psi with twin 57mm turbo's you are going to be seeing 900+ whp hell my 05 gt only has a single 60mm turbo and makes 600ish whp not even breaking 14 lbs of boost... and you're right there is still going to be turbo lag with the 57's but he could either break boost or get ball bearing turbo's, or both...
@probercr93 so far the only TT cobra I know of that makes 900 rwhp pushes 32lbs through twin 60mm's. Im not saying 900 is impossible with such a set up; but the turbo's alone will not get you there, you need a whole new cam and head set up at the least to get the power from the turbo(s) but the cobra in this vid makes no where near that kind of power. a single 60 like you have is a nice set up but you will see when you use 2 turbos the game changes a lot on how you can get the power from them.
@csgtfaught the hell raiser kits get them to 900+hp pretty easily. its the compound boost setup. twin turbo feeds the supercharger. thats just scary. you got the instant punch of the supercharger plus the torque of the turbos and top end of turbos. its insane.
@santiagomel00 if you upgrade to the 66mm or larger turbo yes it is possible to see 900hp the standard 61mm will only get you to around 500-600, and ya adding turbos to a supercharger is scary crazy, had a buddy of mine had a similar set up on his ls3 trans am, had 2 76mm turbos feeding a TVS2300 supercharger, he also had a lot of other shit on it, put down ~1200 rwhp and like 800 or 900 rwtrq. thing was beast

Hate to burst your bubble there old chap but it's a well known fact that turbos will always make more hp/tq per psi than any supercharger. Kenne Bell makes it lower yes, but once the turbos get to their optimum rpm, it's over. MM&FF did a comparo, KB @ 14psi made 720hp and TT @ 13psi made 890hp.

Other way around cuz.
Superchargers are known for their low-RPM power, and turbo's usually favor higher-RPM's.
KB supercharger are hard to beat, cause they provide so much air all the way through the entire powerband.
Wouldn't be surprised if the KB car is running more boost than the HP car either.

Yeah the spool on the a turbo car is usually the biggest downfall, but if you use a recirculating BOV you won't lose boost between shifts. Most people don't use them cause they are more expensive, and they don't sound as "cool" as a regular BOV.

I have a bottle in my Stang. But a buddy has a TT 300ZX. He used to have regular BOV's now he is running recirculating BOV's. I don't know all the info about them but have seen how they can affect the performance of a car. If I were going turbo'd instead of bottled I would definitely go recirculating. I like the sound of them also.

Eh man, most people won't admit it but a ported eaton with spray will abuse a twinscrew cobra. and as far as turbo cobra's... you need an auto to get the most out of it, and for the track a solid rear, THEN it will be faster, but best bang for your buck IMO is a Steig stage 5, 100 shot, 2.93 w 4 lb lower, you'll be faster than 95% of the cars on the street.

LOL well cams play a huge part when it comes to racing... whether mild or pro race cam. And also nitrous is gonna work a lot better in a race than a blower or turbo. Just because its a direct shot of power rather than having a lag on turbo's or the belts on a blower.

Twin turbo cobra's are most of the time slower then kenne bell cobra's until higher speeds like 130-140. That race vs the TA was such bs though, he started ahead and got a jump on the other two on top of that..... fail by all.

Wow i am suprised that the TT cobra got walked like that by a KB cobra. Must be low boost on the TT's or something because those HP 57mm's are nasty as hell and should have no problem with upper 600s on low boost and much more with higher. That KB was impressive. No comment on the fast TA walking the KB. Not really even worth going on about as far as i am concerned.

yes I have seen this cars perform well on "YOUTUBE" I guess i should believe every average joe bloke who post he has a gagillion hp cobra on youtube. "yeah right" all I was referring to is that I have seen a ton more ls1 cars in "real life" outperform cobras at the drag strip time and time again, and I attend races all over the country. Cobra is the best car ford has ever made in my oppinion, but I still dont get why that make such high hp and not get it done on the track.

@Lawgiver45 swing and a miss, I have seen a lot of TT stangs in my day; and raced a few in my fairly stock trans am never falling behind more than 3 cars. Even w/ twin 57mm turbos he is maxing at ~high 500 low 600 rwhp. a well tuned H/C/I ls1 is easily in the mid 600 rwhp range, add a 150shot and you have a beast on the road. dont get me wrong you can get a stang to go fast as fuck and cobras deserve respect, but for my money the ls1 is a better platform to make ridiculous #'s and speed

@Lawgiver45 the Texas speed camaro makes 637 rwhp: stock ls1 bottom end, MS4 cam, PRC 215cc heads FAST 92mm intake PTM 95mm TB ans TSP 100mm MAF no spray, not sure on the gear ratio. upgrade to a fast 104mm system and you would gain about 15rwhp. watabing watabang a H/C/I ls1 that makes mid 600 rwhp.

@Lawgiver45 with the cam that LS was running i would see 450 horse, just cam. with the supporting mods i could see low 500s. not 600. BUT! the only part on the bottom end of an [LS1] capable of holding the compression of a nitrous shot and power from cams would be the crankshaft. and that gets sketchy around 700hp. the biggest cam for an LS1 with stage 2.5 LS6 heads and 102 Mani, 102 TB, 99mm MAF would touch on 550 to 580. a 150 shot ontop of that would be dangerous to a stock bottom end.

@probercr93 maybe 700 with 17-20 psi from 57mm's, now if it were a larger turbo set up, and you push closer to 28+ psi you are looking at 900rwhp but even a twin turbo set up will have some lag when you go that big. That seemed to be this cobra's weakness, looked like it took it real long to build boost; one reason im partial to s/c if you go forced induction. I would not want to chance putting more than 25psi through 57mm turbos, especially on that motor, just asking for something to break.

@csgtfaught no way... maybe you don't realize but each 57mm turbo is capable of over 500whp if you're boosting a stock cobra 4.6 20 psi with twin 57mm turbo's you are going to be seeing 900+ whp hell my 05 gt only has a single 60mm turbo and makes 600ish whp not even breaking 14 lbs of boost... and you're right there is still going to be turbo lag with the 57's but he could either break boost or get ball bearing turbo's, or both...

@probercr93 so far the only TT cobra I know of that makes 900 rwhp pushes 32lbs through twin 60mm's. Im not saying 900 is impossible with such a set up; but the turbo's alone will not get you there, you need a whole new cam and head set up at the least to get the power from the turbo(s) but the cobra in this vid makes no where near that kind of power. a single 60 like you have is a nice set up but you will see when you use 2 turbos the game changes a lot on how you can get the power from them.

@santiagomel00 if you upgrade to the 66mm or larger turbo yes it is possible to see 900hp the standard 61mm will only get you to around 500-600, and ya adding turbos to a supercharger is scary crazy, had a buddy of mine had a similar set up on his ls3 trans am, had 2 76mm turbos feeding a TVS2300 supercharger, he also had a lot of other shit on it, put down ~1200 rwhp and like 800 or 900 rwtrq. thing was beast

Hate to burst your bubble there old chap but it's a well known fact that turbos will always make more hp/tq per psi than any supercharger. Kenne Bell makes it lower yes, but once the turbos get to their optimum rpm, it's over. MM&FF did a comparo, KB @ 14psi made 720hp and TT @ 13psi made 890hp.
