They were, will be, and are you. There is no saving that needs to be done. But if you think it needs to be done, then that is as they say, your own karma.

  • this whole yoga ohmm stuff is just so highly addictive eh... meditation.. breathing exercises etc.. just too amazing.. the Vedics were on the ball ~ !

  • Amazing thank you for uploading my friend!

  • That was beautiful, but terrifying! And the funny thing is it's just as I had suspected. Whenever you have a gut feeling on something or whenever you think something is too good to be true, it probably is and you're probably right. Hell, we as consciousness, not as humans or physical beings, but down to our core we are consciousness and we as consciousness are just eternally going in circles, around and around in circles. Life is madness!

  • my favorite philosopher! thank you!

  • can someone explain to me what it is called if we keep the "ons on", instead of going off in between, is this nirvana?

  • I think perceiving the 'off' might help more. One is only ever concious of the 'on', never really the 'off', unless by contrast, and that is only an abstract because it is inherently unknowable. Full awareness can only be understanding, or rather 'not understanding', but all perception of conciousness is 'on'. That is why there is no death. Just like sleeping without dreams a million forevers may pass and we are unaware. Finding peace in the self, not in what the self perceives is nirvana.

  • No. Actually having only ons or only offs is still samsara, simply because you don't have to fight to have only ons or offs; you merely have to go beyond wanting ons or offs by detachment; when, for you, on and off are equal, none more important than the other and you don't feel you have to strive either for life or against it, that is Nirvana; remember that Nirvana isn't something outside you, like a place you have to get to. you already HAVE it.

  • Nope.

The 'ons' and the 'offs' are opposite ends of the spectrum, which the dissolution of Nirvana or 'blowing out' transcends.

Nirvana is nothing, it belongs to neither end of the spectrum. It may be said that it is 'outside' of the spectrum, but there is no 'outside.' There is only nothing. And that nothing, is 'Nirvana.'

  • absolutely AMAZING!!! I've listened to countless hours of Alan Watts, but this seems to sum up most of his spiritual teachings in one elegant and easy to understand piece.

  • Nice explanation! Awesome! Proud to be an Hindu!

  • Yeah I am proud to be a Christian, I mean Hindu, Oh wait they are the same thing. A name to describe a "religion". But still truth. the Religion isn't truth but what it points to is truth.

  • Supurb

  • Beautiful, thanks!

  • FANtastic lol...luv hinduism

  • Hinduism? These are not the teachings of Hinduism but they belong to a way of thinking which was prevalent in a particular geographical area at a particular time. Travelers and conquerors who visited that particular area had to cross a big river called Indus flowing from north-east to south-west to reach this land. So in historical text the boundary of this land was marked as Indus and it came to be known among foreigners as the Land of the Indus.

  • With time the name 'Indus' became 'Hindus' and the way of the thinking prevalent in this land of Hindus came to be known as Hinduism. The real name of thought process that gave birth to concepts such as Om and Vedas was 'Sanatana Dharma'. 'Sanatana' being the Sanskrit word meaning Ancient or Age defying and 'Dharma' meaning the way of life.

  • Nowadays if you ask anyone from India they will say that 'Dharma' means Religion but these two terms are wrongfully thought to be synonymous after people of the land of Indus were ruled by British for more than 200 years. You can completely ignore this text because this comment was just was for informational purpose. Lets enjoy what Allan Watts has to say. Om.

  • Exactly. Actually religion is a group of people just like political parties while dharma means truth or light. Adharma means untruth or darkness. Dharma is not a religion.

  • Absolutely fantastic!

    Cheers!

  • Beautiful..... thank you my friend.

  • oooooooooooooooooooooommmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
