I was a late 60's early 70's rock n roller. This is certainly one of those songs that went well when you flying the "american way", laid back and perfect!
Well I was raised in Georgia were they had to keep the albums in stock cause people wore them out all the time. Talking about Ronnie could get you hurt.
This is a great tune. Kinda freaks me out that some of you never heard it. I am old LOL!!!! Keep discovering Skynyrd and youall be happy people. Peace~Paulie
hey wdchefdave56? This song WAS about someone in particular. I was told this by someone in the band personally. Ronnie wasn't just playin with the boys with this song.
I knew Ronnie, and he might have been pissed off at a band member... or a manager... and I never did know the true origin of this tune. Share if you can... I might actually know who he was aiming at. Still one of the most "LAID BACK" tunes ever recorded. It wasn't Gregg Allman wuz it? That would actually make sense back in the day!
I cooked backstage for the original Lynyrd Skynyrd whenever they wuz in Atlanta.
I wuzn't allowed to even say "hi' to the Allman Bros.... they was on dope
@wdchefdave56 In an interview with Ricky Medlocke, Ricky talks about how his dad Shorty used to tell Ronnie once he got past a certain point he'd have it made in the shade. Ronnie wrote the song with Shorty Medlocke in mind.
@wdchefdave56 My favorite songs by these guys are "sleepers".All their songs are great but the most popular ones have been over played on radio. It's sad, a lot of people haven't heard their greatest songs because all they know is whats on the radio.Of course all the REAL Skynyrd fans like us older dogs know the GOLD is!!
Hmm, no comments in a month!!?

A "sleeper" tune.
Never was a "hit" nowhere... thank God!
Ronnie was just playing around with the boys.
And this is an absolute classic.
If you do not think so, then you need another drink.
