The thing that amazes me the most about shumacher is very similer to senna just way they balance the car through the mid corner is just unbeliveable the car is just allways twiching as if theyre so close to the limet that even point 100th of a km more an they loose traction.
No one really know for shure why there so much better but from what i can see who ever has the best senses and is one with car will win
What's the song that plays while Schumacher is driving at 0:17-0:42? (I think the track is the Nurburgring) It sounds really epic and I could use it in my school media project lol.
@SuperSoldierZz bah Rosberg is simply better then michael when schumi doesnt have the fia sucking his dick and an overpowerd car finishing race after race...
in the qualifying rosberg is only a little faster than schumi ( and schumi is over 40 and i think when schumi licks blood in the race he's better than rosberg) and we doesnt know for wich driver the setup of the car is better but now imagine schumi would be 25, would he not be a lot of faster than rosberg?
@hunt2727 However, that's not taking into account the fact that the Bennetton car he was driving had traction control, whereas no other car in the field had it. (since it was illegal)
whether Schumacher is truly a better driver than Senna, we will never really know. but one thing is undeniable. they are two of the best drivers to ever grace the sport with their skills, and gave some of the best performances in the history of F1. In the end, that's all that really matters.
@supacubano10 It was a type of launch control not TC. Benetton admitted the software had never been deleted from the ECU because it was an integrated part of the engines mapping. The only way to disable it was to not fit the sensor suit required for to feedback to the ECU.
An active sensor suit was never found on the car over race weekends hence the FIA dropped the complaint
I think we can all agree that every racer was the best when in the peak of their career. No one can possibly compare, or say who's better. Some might say Shumacher was best, some say Senna. In the end, they will all be remembered as heroes. Heroes that fought mostly against themselves than against each other.
was epic watching lewis hamilton trying to pass schumi at monza this year was behind him almost 20 laps while he was using KERS and DRS schumi wasnt using anything only time he passed was when schumi had to pit
Nicketeen_I Respect his opinion. However, that won't change him that me leaning. Schumacher is with an age a little advanced, and that should affect his income in the tracks. And even with a little competitive car,he still gets to reach good results (example:gp of the canada 2011:he was the 4,and it almost arose in the podium)SCHUMACHER IS SCHUMACHER, and he is simply incomparable. Hugs.

Certainly the best of his generation, I don't think it's fair to compare him to the likes of Fangio or Moss, the cars those guys drove were so different, more like touring cars compared to modern F1 cars.
he especially had the best car during several years, what gave him his records (with barichello); for me, he is not the best. it's hard to say who it is....perhaps senna
LOL people who say Schumacher is the best obvioulsy don't know what they are talking about. Senna was the BEST. And you can't deny that! Schumacher is in shit this year he's getting raped by vettel. Although he is without a doubt the world's second best
@hlidskjalf666 In case you didn't notice... SENNA DIED! If he didn't die he would have won a shitload of world champions he'd be so bored he would quit. And by the time he had died he had 4, if it wasn't for that prost asshole that went crying to jmb just because senna tried to overtake. And plus, Senna won all the titles without cheating :)
Watch the movie Senna(2010) or get somehow educated in history of formula 1 before speak again you little shit.
Senna was under pressure and made several mistakes in the 1994 season. He did not have 4 titles, it was 3. Senna was quite ugly on the track too , like when he just rammed into Prost without even try to break ...just for win by point-ranking system. What an fool you are.
Learn and dont return before know what shit youré trolling bout.
@hlidskjalf666 I DID watch the movie. And I would have done the same thing. But you wouldn't understand because obviously you adore schumacher so much you can't even think properly. Senna rammed him because the pole was on the dirty side of the track and they wouldn't change it. And Senna lost the title because Prost was french. Senna won the race and he was disqualified because of guys like you. That's why he has 4 and not 3 because he would have won it.
@hlidskjalf666 Just like that retarded Schumi that stole Hill's title. He knew he was going to retire so he threw his car against hill's just to get the title. He is a man with no honor. End of story
Not like at all.... that´s was cording to FIA a race-accident. In Senna´s case he decided even before the race started what to do!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Can you understand that difference you dumb stupid fuckhead?
Senna won in Donninton 93 in the rain with a car full of electronic aids, while Schumacher had not any electronic aid. Even Michael Andretti in that Mclaren overtook Schumi! That was a joke!!!
But in Barcelona 92 in the rain, both drove with no traction controls, and Senna could not be as fast as Schumacher and finally Senna crashed trying to catch Schumi. First victory of Schumacher, Spa 92, and there was rain, beating Mansell, Senna... everyone !
What made him the greatest I have seen is the ability to do 10 or 20 laps right on the limit consecutively when he had to pull out leads or catch-up drivers ahead of him. Ruthless he may have been, but the meek won't succeed at the very top.

If Schumacher had done the race of Senna in montecarlo 84, their haters would say that mclarens had brake problems, and many other cars in the grid had problems too (which is right) And they would say that Bellof was faster than Senna (which is true) what proves that Senna was inferior in a better car and so on, they would say that if Schumacher were Senna in that race.
But Schumacher was faster than Senna in the rain barcelona 92, and Senna crashed trying catch Schumacher!Schumi the best!!!
@hunt2727 Stefan Bellof was racing a ILLEGAL Tyrrel in 1984 and was banned from the championship. Senna had a poorling McLaren in 1992, it was horribly unstable, unpredictable in fast corners and it suffered bad from reliability issues.
In 1993 Senna drove for McLaren again, which was the third force of the grid (behind Williams and Schumacher's Benetton), but some particular races in the rain (Brazil and Donington) let him show what he was capable of. He rose to the top (continues)
@LouieGee And the fact that Bellof's car was ILLEGAL (why the bold letters?) didn't say anything about his performance in Monaco. It was raining on the most difficult circuit in the world, a street circuit at that, some bits being lighter or smaller than the rules say didn't favour him in a way where you would have to see it as unfair. Fact is, Stefan Bellof was the driver of the day at Monaco, just that he wasn't as arrogant about his performance as Senna was.
@Charkow1943 Bellof was aided by an illegal car, it was much lighter and that's very unfair. Do the math. Besides, Senna had the worst turbo engine on the grid. It's much more difficult to drive a turbo on the rain instead of an normally aspirated engine, you can ask that to any driver. Bellof had a normally aspirated engine. If Bellof were that good, he would've showed it in another race.
@LouieGee In Brazil the same year he started last (a normally aspirated engine was chanceless against any turbo engine) and overtook 7 cars in lap 1.. In lap 3 he had already overtaken 10 people, including Senna when his car broke down. In 1985 at Estoril he started from 21st to finsh 6th, and in Adelaide he finished 4th. Make some research before you post a comment.
@Charkow1943 Ok, let's see how a good "researcher" you are: Bellof never raced in Adelaide. Anyway, the car was illegal in 1984, which makes Bellof's race at Monaco almost worthless. Martin Brundle, in the same Tyrrel in 1984, made a rather unflattering race in Detroit, challenging drivers like Prost, Rosberg, De Angelis, Alboreto and Piquet, almost winning the race, coming in 2nd place. He managed to do that only because Tyrrel had an illegal system in 1984. (continues)
@Charkow1943 (continuing) Since the whole year of 1984 cannot be used as an argument, let's talk about 1985: His 6th place in Portugal, in 1985, was a very good result, but nothing uncommon, since he inherited many positions from drivers who retired from mech. problems/ spun off. Bellof was an excellent driver and perfectly capable of pulling off such result. But honestly, to compare him to Senna means you don't know Senna at all.
benetton 2nd, oh yes, without the driving aids better than mclaren. senna himself said we have the better car so why ford does not give the newest engine to us. benetton had the newest engine with 15hp more than the older spec mclaren had. in the last races they had the same engine. the better car was the mclaren, they had a much higher budget. even in 94 benetton had only the 5th. highest budget.
@Mummins Senna never said he had the best car, are you nuts or just a regular liar? Benetton also had the same aids from McLaren and Williams (Williams had the best, off course). And (particularly back then) you don't need to have a large budget to make a good car. Benetton had one of the best engineers/ designers ever: Rory Byrne (Benetton's chassi was "copied" by everyone later in 1995). McLaren's engineer was Neil Oatley, whose cars never won anything after Senna left the team.
@LouieGee 7 Titles, 91 Wins, 68 Poles. Went to a team that hasn't won any championship since 17 years. Lost 4 years in the prime of his abilities in an underperforming car or due to extremely bad luck (broken leg) when he would have the chance to grab his first title for Ferrari. Gigantic achievement and something noone, even the hard-bitten Senna fanboy on YT could take away.
@Charkow1943 He didn't lose 4 years nor "sacrificed" himself out of pity for a team which hasn't won in 17 years. Don't be ridiculous. In 1998 Ferrari was already a car to fight for the title and Schumacher knew he would have the best team around him (Brawn, Byrne, Todt) with loads of money. It was only a matter of time for Ferrari to be the best car.
Senna also had "bad luck". In 1989 and in his accident. He could've been 3 or 4x WC in Williams. And he would retire in Ferrari...
@LouieGee With Senna it is always "would" --> not the reality. What counts is what he has achieved, and only this. In 96 and 97 it was Michael getting the most out of the car, and in 99 he was simply unlucky with his broken leg. 3 years lost, and 98 he didn't win aswell, so 4 years. Since Senna became champion for the first time, he had 2 years where he didn't have the chance to win the WDC due to the car, and in one of those years he gave up.
@LouieGee Besides that he was actually beaten twice by Alain Prost, if it wasn't for the stupid pointsystem in 88, Prost would have won this CS aswell. This is also how it "could" have been.
@Charkow1943 If the point system was different, Senna would've driven like he did in 1991, when the points were changed and Senna raced to get points and not only aiming for the victory. Everyone knew the rules. Prost, Senna, Piquet, Mansell, everyone. That's not an excuse. And it was not a "stupid" rule, it was a very fair rule. At the time, cars were not as reliable so the drivers would discard any bad results due to reliability. Senna had 4 reliability problems that year...
@Charkow1943 Senna was not "giving up". He wanted to equal Fangio's record before going to Ferrari (where he wished to retire). By the way, Schumacher inherited the contract from Senna. Ferrari's plans to "reborn" would be done with Senna, not Schumacher: "What counts is what he achieved". Sure is... so Mika Hakkinen is as good as Jimmy Clark (one of the best), right? And Jacques Villeneuve is better than his father, Gilles Villeneuve, right? That's ridiculous...
@Charkow1943 If Senna hadn't died in 1994, he would've been WC easily. The average Damon Hill almost was.
If Senna was still alive, he would've won in 1995, and the championships of 96 and 97 would be a piece of cake (since Williams was the dominant car). Then he would go to Ferrari and maybe would be WC there (I tottally believe so). Senna would be 7 x WC and Schumacher, until Senna retired, wouldn't be even once.
And his record of wins in Mônaco would be, at least, 10 or 11.
@LouieGee If Michael wasn't banned from 2 races and stripped off the Spa victory, he would have easily beaten Hill in the standings.
And the rest of what you say is just ridiculous. I am ready to take every bet that Michael would have beaten Senna in 94, even if he himself believed Senna would win the WDC. Ow yeah, and why would Senna have won them (according to you)? As you said by yourself, the best car would have been the reason.
@Charkow1943 FIA did that because they took it too easy on Benetton when they found out they were cheating (fearing that if it happened the championship wouldn't be exciting) and then later they found a way to balance things again. Or don't you think that the 2 race ban was too much?
Senna would've won because he would have a better car after San Marino (Williams introduced their new and better version of the car after Senna died). He was doing ok with the previous (unstable) car.
@LouieGee No, FIA did ban Michael due to the Silverstone GP and his warm up lap, where he did a stupid mistake. Afterwards, it was the FIA's fault for causing confusion over how to hand out the penalty to the Benetton team. In Spa, where he was stripped of a victory, Benetton claimed that the underplate was smaller due to a heavy spin thru the kerbs at Blanchimont I think, but the FIA didn't believe them and Michael was the victim (once again).
@LouieGee Senna on the other hand, did not ok at all, it was as usual, blindingly quick in qualifying (how was that possible if the Williams was so crap according to you), but in the races he fucked up. And no, don't come with the illegal TC-thing, they never found evidence for that, and tell me, how was Senna able to keep his position at the Start of Imola 1994 for example?
And the only reason why MSC said Senna was favourite was that he could behave in a way Senna couldn't: Modest.
@Charkow1943 So you think that Benetton was the "villain" and Schumacher was a "poor victim"? He didn't know his boss was (and still is, as he proved in 2008) a fucking cheater? Schumacher didn't know his car had illegal softwares and fuel rig? C'mon...
Senna was quick in qualifying even with the unstable Williams as he was quick with the Lotus (which seemed to "dance" on the track) and the 1991 McLaren (which wasn't as good as Senna made it look).
@LouieGee Are you mad? You seriously believe Schumacher would have known about the illegal fuel rig? You honestly think he would put his life in danger to gain a couple of seconds in the pits? How biased is such an assumption?
And just to remind you that Senna and Lotus were not exactly the nice and clean team/driver-combination:
@Charkow1943 You are funny dude. Nor Benetton neither Schumacher knew that the fuel rig could cause a fire like it did. Schumacher would never risk his life, but you think that the mechanics would put the lives of both drivers AND all mechanics in danger? How biased is YOUR assumption?
If those videos from Senna are examples of him cheating, every driver in the history of the sport (at least the champions) were cheaters. But Schumacher takes the trophy, by far, as the biggest one.
@LouieGee And of course every unfair move made by Senna or his team is nothing and minimized by you. Everything Michael has done is maximized to the very limit. I really should have quitted this discussion earlier, hardly ever seen such a biased Senna-fanboy. Your attitude is a disgrace towards Senna, if he could see what utter BS you are posting he would probably turn his back on you.
@Charkow1943 Ok, you're the one talking shit you don't know about Senna (you're lying, by the way) and Senna would turn his back on ME? That's laughable... and if I'm a "Senna fanboy" you are a Schumacher's bitch, cause I've never seen anyone trying to say that Schumacher "didn't know" his car was illegal in 1994. And, worst of all, saying that Senna "tried to cheat" in Brazil, 1988.
About Senna x Prost, a lot happened before that. If you don't know, don't say crap.
@LouieGee Last thing: There is no excuse for what he did at Suzuka 1990, absolutely no excuse. No matter what happened before with JMB and the grid position (Senna was wrong about that btw), there is no reason to risk your own life and more importantly the life of another driver just because you have to take the wrong side on the grid.
And it's you lying, I clearly said that imo Michael didn't know about the fuel-rig, not that he didn't know anything about TC (which was never proven).
@Charkow1943 He didn't do that only because of the grid position. He did that because of JMB helping Prost clinch his 3rd WC in 1989, disqualifying Senna and "robbing" his LEGITIMATE Suzuka victory.
Illegal software "was never proven". Dude, FIA requested to all teams to hand over their software for inspection. Benetton delayed that for a MONTH (getting fined) and STILL FIA could find the illegal software. Benetton claimed it was not used in races, only in tests. Hahahah, ok...
@LouieGee That Benetton was sliding a lot during corner exits in Brazil 1994 when Schumacher was pushing it to the limit, chasing down Senna. TC cars dont behave like that
@beqa16v The Benetton wasn't "sliding" out of the corners, and some ocasional "sliding" is normal, even with TC cars. Anyway, just hear what John Watson says:
Hear it at 15min and 48sec of the video: "the car, out of these slow corners, throughout the weekend has been the most impressive indeed, they seem to have traction where everybody else is claiming they have no traction at all".
Only Benetton seems to have traction... that's way suspicious.
@Charkow1943 Oh, one more thing: why Senna was wrong about the grid positions? You don't EVEN KNOW exactly what happened but you still claim that "Senna was wrong anyway". This is such a childish way of thinking...
Again, about the 1990 incident, If I were in Senna's shoes, when JMB screwed him in 1989 (to help Prost), making him lose a victory and the championship and ALL the things that happened which you clearly don't have a fucking clue, I would have done the same thing.
@LouieGee These authors of the Senna documentary should be arrested for so much bias in their work! Even if Senna won in Japan 1989 he would not be the 89 WDC! Senna was subject to disqualifying in that race due to push start which is disallowed! Nobody promised Senna to change grid positions in Suzuka 90. The pole was always on that side, check 1989 start on Suzuka.
@beqa16v The movie is good, although I don't get my info from there. That's for amateurs. Senna wasn't DSQ for the push start, are you nuts? If a driver manages to re-start the engine when the Marshalls push his car out of the track (which they HAVE to do) that is a legal manouvre. You should know the facts before accusing other of being biased.
In 1990, Marshall's promised Senna they would change positions. Then, Ballestre gave the order, from a HOSPITAL BED: "do not change it".
@Charkow1943 continuing: So Schumacher could never know about something so damn obvious to the driver (as the software and the fuel rig) but Senna off course knew about something that is hidden under the car's chassi. Nice dude...
About Mônaco, in 1985: Peter Warr send Senna to the track with old tires. Senna returned to the pits and said "please don't tell me to do this again. I don't wanna win like that". Peter Warr himself told this story many times (including some biographies).
@Charkow1943 About Brazil, in 1988: LOL, are you joking? Senna's car failed so he tried to use his spare car. Everyone on the track saw Senna changing cars, I don't know how this is an atempt to cheat. The team didn't know if the marshalls would permit such a manouver and, just in case, Senna changed cars and went to the track, hoping he could continue in the race.
It took some time until the Marshalls decided it was not legal. To say this was an attempt to cheat is just childish.
@Charkow1943 As Nigel Roebuck said: "Senna won four in four races in a car which should not been winning."
About Senna "fucked up" the races? Are you fucking joking? In the first race he made a mistake, ok. Second race he got hit from behind by Hakkinen (who really fucked up) and third race his steering column broke. How did he fuck up in Aida and San Marino? This is such a biased comment.
@Charkow1943 By the way, when not even Schumacher himself can convince you that Senna would've won (and Schumacher is pretty convinced that Senna would if he was alive)... how can I?
@Mummins He never said that. He said "look how we are managing to be competitive with and underpowered car. They (Ford) are losing the chance of winning races. He never said anything about "best" or "worst" car than Benetton. In fact, back then everyone agreed that Benetton had also the best chassi, which was confirmed in 1994, when electronics were banned and later in 1995 when all big teams "copied" that chassi and nowadays every F1 team uses its basic principle.
@hunt2727 (continuing) It's strange how Schumacher struggled in Donington while even Barrichello with his poor Jordan overtook him and was faster than him on the wet. Michael was extremely quick indeed, but he was only quick when he had conditions that favored him (a car suited for him, tires, managers telling him what to do and when to stop).
@LouieGee But Schumacher never gave up my friend, even in 96 when his car was terribly unrelieable and clearly inferior to the Williams, he was fighting and won 3 races, finishing 3rd in the standings. Senna on the other hand, gave up in 92 after he saw that his car was no match for the Williams and kept on bragging about going to Williams. When Schumacher was in a difficult situation, he accepted it and gave his best. Senna gave up in 92 and was looking for the best car. Point
@Charkow1943 "Schumacher never gave up"? How would he give up if he had signed a contract? How would he give up if he knew in which territory he was goin' before signing to Ferrari? He was young and twice world champion, had plenty of time, the right team around him and loads of money to turn the Ferrari in a victorious car. You really think he did that out of "charity" to Ferrari?
And it's pretty easy to talk bad about Senna in 1992 when you don't know the facts.
@LouieGee Aw you know what: Let's stop here. There's no way we could ever agree on this issue anyway, it's not leading to anything constructive. For me personally Schumacher was way better than Senna has ever been, and your opinion is the opposite. I accept that.
@Charkow1943 Ok... I can also accept that. But we were not talking about their quality as a driver. And I can never accept when people say that "Schumacher was a good guy because he stayed in Ferrari" and "Senna was a villain because he wanted to leave McLaren". This is simply unacceptable because it is a stupefying ignorance.
@LouieGee Senna's ride in 1993 was assisted by ABS, TC and active suspension - Michael's car in Spain 96 didn't have any of these aids - look what he was able to achieve. Senna won by such a big gap due to pitting less times than the others, Michael won Spain 96 due to his magnificent abilities in wet conditions.
Michael also finished 2nd in Spain 94 although having only the 5th gear left, clearly a proof that Michael was fast in any conditions.
@Charkow1943 In 1993, Benetton, Williams, Ferrari and even Footwork had electronic aids. You talk like if Senna was the only one helped by them. What about Portugal, in 1985? Senna had a huge gap to everyone, lapping everyone except for the second place, driving an inferior car against double and triple world champions.
Schumacher, on the other hand, competed against unquestionably inferior drivers and he didn't manage to put such a difference to them.
Those who know a bit of sport science and human performance they will admire Schumacher's courage, driving at top level at 42 after long time retirement, instead of criticize...and mouthing off. I would like to see some of today's new drivers on the grid struggling the same way at 42.
Schumacher back in the 90s also had the pyschological element working for him as well. Other drivers not only had to deal with Shumacher's incredible driving abilities (which were perfected for the older generation F1 cars where the driver could "muscle" the car through a turn instead of today's cars where they're more designed to be driven smoothly, not agressively) but they also had to overcome the pyschological factor that they were racing against none other than Michael Schumacher himself.
@ZZ1F1 Don't forget that in those days schumacher was not the 7 times world champion. He was just an very good driver like Hamilton, vettel and alonso are today. So nobody was afraid but only curious how it was possible to be so fast on some circuits (compared to team mates).
@bazman85 It's not really that he has a shit car. It's the kind of Formula 1 we now have. In the 90's where he was at his best, the car's were completly different. Now they are driving like on rails, you have to be complete cleane for a good round. Back in the 90's it wasn't like that. You could drive much much harder, use wheelspin and so on to be fast. That's not today...
Today Schumi can't even land in the Top 10, getting his ass beat by guys in a Torro Rosso and Force India. Is it age or are the young drivers just so much better than he is or was?
@AccordGTR Age, and probably struggling with the current machinery (the ruleset, chassis etc, not Mercedes in particular). I suspect psychologically he's not as strong as he used to be either.
The style Herbert uses is more with his hands. Both styles are fast but Schumacher has mastered throttle control so he's that slight bit better. Remember Schumacher isn't super human he is just trained. Anyone can go out and do what he does if they practice enough. I STILL think Schumacher is one of the greatest drivers ever.
This is not some sort of superpower or amazing feat its scientifically explainable. Not to say I'm an expert but in my opinion Schumacher uses a driving style that uses the throttle primarily. His style allows him to drive the car on the ragged edge because he drives with his right foot and feels the car through the corner.
this year we're going to witness a big improvement from him and his car, he may not win the title, but that whole team will be better this year. and to the guy below me saying that in "06 massa was becoming a match for him", don't forget that his only competition that year was alonso, and don't forget what happened in japan that year. cheers.
It's not rocket science why Schumi is slower now, he is older. In 2006 Massa was becoming a match for him, we're 5 years on and he has been out of the sport for 3 of them. People can talk about styles as much as they like but the fact is the fastest and best drivers can adapt, Alonso was a top driver in a V10 Renault on grooved Michelins and still is in a V8 Ferrari on slick Bridgestones. There is no magic fix to Schumis problems, he just isn't as quick as he was, he has a 0% chance of a title.
How interesting: Senna and Schumacher seem to have mastered something of the same staccato/progressive throttle technique for cornering, which gives them a speed advantage in corners, where it all counts especially when overtaking.
Back when cars had more power, a wider, more stable wheelbase and electronic aids were less prevalent (never mind active suspension in the early 90s) such delicate throttle control was key to not lose the car.
This video was made long time ago , it gives a clear understanding of why Schumacher has so many problems with F1 2010 cars , his driving style in early 90's was perfect for F1 of the past , the telemetry at 3:45 gives us the ultimate key , steering corrections in the corner was a + back then , it's ironic to think that what made him ahead of others , is now an handicap with more technologies and electronic for a driving style... Herbert driving style was more adapted for today's cars
I think this year micheal will show all of this haters that he is better than the most of the other drivers.. now he for 99% a car what is very good for him.
One reason is only that the new pirellis are making the cars more downsteering..AND this likes Schumacher ;)
the problem with schumacher now is that he's getting old and distracted, it's normal, nobody can drive forever, Vettel would be the same in 15 years
plus, schumacher got used to the ferarri, and even if you give him the easiest car to drive, he would still fail
he was champ seven times and I think that's enough
not to mention the fact that F1 brought schumacher back so that he will increase popularity of the season, so he doesn't need to drive much so he can get the money...
Schumacher is a legend, the only reason he didn't do too well this season is because he's used to the V10's, and they've changed the design of the cars now. If the Mercedes GP Petronas improves for next year, he'll surely succeed.
@godanselmo Hear, Hear. he is back because of his passion for racing, he retired too early to help massa stay at ferarri. He came back because passion is worth risking your reputation for. I remember an interview discussing his decision to return the phrase that stood out was 'I feel alive again' .
love MichaelSchumacher with a passion and wish to see the old magic in 2011. it's been a difficult year after 3 years away but a good first year back performance imo. fingers crossed [<<{0}-]
I don't understand how anyone can dispute his talent. He's finished on the podium in nearly two thirds of the races he's competed in. came third in his third season in a car that (despite argument) was not as competitive as the McLaren. He was beaten by the Williams as they were much faster than the rest.
He actually beat Senna in '92, so what does that say?
and in '93, he crushed his team-mate Patrese and got 9 podiums, co-incidentally in every race that he was able to finish.
The thing that amazes me the most about shumacher is very similer to senna just way they balance the car through the mid corner is just unbeliveable the car is just allways twiching as if theyre so close to the limet that even point 100th of a km more an they loose traction.

coolL9457 2 months ago
in the qualifying rosberg is only a little faster than schumi ( and schumi is over 40 and i think when schumi licks blood in the race he's better than rosberg) and we doesnt know for wich driver the setup of the car is better but now imagine schumi would be 25, would he not be a lot of faster than rosberg?
SuperSoldierZz 3 months ago
@hunt2727 However, that's not taking into account the fact that the Bennetton car he was driving had traction control, whereas no other car in the field had it. (since it was illegal)
whether Schumacher is truly a better driver than Senna, we will never really know. but one thing is undeniable. they are two of the best drivers to ever grace the sport with their skills, and gave some of the best performances in the history of F1. In the end, that's all that really matters.
supacubano10 3 months ago 5
@supacubano10 It was a type of launch control not TC. Benetton admitted the software had never been deleted from the ECU because it was an integrated part of the engines mapping. The only way to disable it was to not fit the sensor suit required for to feedback to the ECU.
An active sensor suit was never found on the car over race weekends hence the FIA dropped the complaint
Viperkiller465 1 week ago
I think we can all agree that every racer was the best when in the peak of their career. No one can possibly compare, or say who's better. Some might say Shumacher was best, some say Senna. In the end, they will all be remembered as heroes. Heroes that fought mostly against themselves than against each other.

Senna was under pressure and made several mistakes in the 1994 season. He did not have 4 titles, it was 3. Senna was quite ugly on the track too , like when he just rammed into Prost without even try to break ...just for win by point-ranking system. What an fool you are.

But Schumacher was faster than Senna in the rain barcelona 92, and Senna crashed trying catch Schumacher!Schumi the best!!!
hunt2727 8 months ago 63
@hunt2727 Stefan Bellof was racing a ILLEGAL Tyrrel in 1984 and was banned from the championship. Senna had a poorling McLaren in 1992, it was horribly unstable, unpredictable in fast corners and it suffered bad from reliability issues.
In 1993 Senna drove for McLaren again, which was the third force of the grid (behind Williams and Schumacher's Benetton), but some particular races in the rain (Brazil and Donington) let him show what he was capable of. He rose to the top (continues)
LouieGee 1 month ago
@LouieGee And the fact that Bellof's car was ILLEGAL (why the bold letters?) didn't say anything about his performance in Monaco. It was raining on the most difficult circuit in the world, a street circuit at that, some bits being lighter or smaller than the rules say didn't favour him in a way where you would have to see it as unfair. Fact is, Stefan Bellof was the driver of the day at Monaco, just that he wasn't as arrogant about his performance as Senna was.
Charkow1943 3 weeks ago
@Charkow1943 Bellof was aided by an illegal car, it was much lighter and that's very unfair. Do the math. Besides, Senna had the worst turbo engine on the grid. It's much more difficult to drive a turbo on the rain instead of an normally aspirated engine, you can ask that to any driver. Bellof had a normally aspirated engine. If Bellof were that good, he would've showed it in another race.
LouieGee 3 weeks ago
@LouieGee In Brazil the same year he started last (a normally aspirated engine was chanceless against any turbo engine) and overtook 7 cars in lap 1.. In lap 3 he had already overtaken 10 people, including Senna when his car broke down. In 1985 at Estoril he started from 21st to finsh 6th, and in Adelaide he finished 4th. Make some research before you post a comment.
Charkow1943 3 weeks ago
@Charkow1943 Ok, let's see how a good "researcher" you are: Bellof never raced in Adelaide. Anyway, the car was illegal in 1984, which makes Bellof's race at Monaco almost worthless. Martin Brundle, in the same Tyrrel in 1984, made a rather unflattering race in Detroit, challenging drivers like Prost, Rosberg, De Angelis, Alboreto and Piquet, almost winning the race, coming in 2nd place. He managed to do that only because Tyrrel had an illegal system in 1984. (continues)
LouieGee 3 weeks ago
@Charkow1943 (continuing) Since the whole year of 1984 cannot be used as an argument, let's talk about 1985: His 6th place in Portugal, in 1985, was a very good result, but nothing uncommon, since he inherited many positions from drivers who retired from mech. problems/ spun off. Bellof was an excellent driver and perfectly capable of pulling off such result. But honestly, to compare him to Senna means you don't know Senna at all.
LouieGee 3 weeks ago
@LouieGee
benetton 2nd, oh yes, without the driving aids better than mclaren. senna himself said we have the better car so why ford does not give the newest engine to us. benetton had the newest engine with 15hp more than the older spec mclaren had. in the last races they had the same engine. the better car was the mclaren, they had a much higher budget. even in 94 benetton had only the 5th. highest budget.
Mummins 3 weeks ago
@Mummins Senna never said he had the best car, are you nuts or just a regular liar? Benetton also had the same aids from McLaren and Williams (Williams had the best, off course). And (particularly back then) you don't need to have a large budget to make a good car. Benetton had one of the best engineers/ designers ever: Rory Byrne (Benetton's chassi was "copied" by everyone later in 1995). McLaren's engineer was Neil Oatley, whose cars never won anything after Senna left the team.
LouieGee 3 weeks ago
@LouieGee 7 Titles, 91 Wins, 68 Poles. Went to a team that hasn't won any championship since 17 years. Lost 4 years in the prime of his abilities in an underperforming car or due to extremely bad luck (broken leg) when he would have the chance to grab his first title for Ferrari. Gigantic achievement and something noone, even the hard-bitten Senna fanboy on YT could take away.
Charkow1943 3 weeks ago
@Charkow1943 He didn't lose 4 years nor "sacrificed" himself out of pity for a team which hasn't won in 17 years. Don't be ridiculous. In 1998 Ferrari was already a car to fight for the title and Schumacher knew he would have the best team around him (Brawn, Byrne, Todt) with loads of money. It was only a matter of time for Ferrari to be the best car.
Senna also had "bad luck". In 1989 and in his accident. He could've been 3 or 4x WC in Williams. And he would retire in Ferrari...
LouieGee 3 weeks ago
@LouieGee With Senna it is always "would" --> not the reality. What counts is what he has achieved, and only this. In 96 and 97 it was Michael getting the most out of the car, and in 99 he was simply unlucky with his broken leg. 3 years lost, and 98 he didn't win aswell, so 4 years. Since Senna became champion for the first time, he had 2 years where he didn't have the chance to win the WDC due to the car, and in one of those years he gave up.
Charkow1943 3 weeks ago
@LouieGee Besides that he was actually beaten twice by Alain Prost, if it wasn't for the stupid pointsystem in 88, Prost would have won this CS aswell. This is also how it "could" have been.
Charkow1943 3 weeks ago
@Charkow1943 If the point system was different, Senna would've driven like he did in 1991, when the points were changed and Senna raced to get points and not only aiming for the victory. Everyone knew the rules. Prost, Senna, Piquet, Mansell, everyone. That's not an excuse. And it was not a "stupid" rule, it was a very fair rule. At the time, cars were not as reliable so the drivers would discard any bad results due to reliability. Senna had 4 reliability problems that year...
LouieGee 3 weeks ago
@Charkow1943 Senna was not "giving up". He wanted to equal Fangio's record before going to Ferrari (where he wished to retire). By the way, Schumacher inherited the contract from Senna. Ferrari's plans to "reborn" would be done with Senna, not Schumacher: "What counts is what he achieved". Sure is... so Mika Hakkinen is as good as Jimmy Clark (one of the best), right? And Jacques Villeneuve is better than his father, Gilles Villeneuve, right? That's ridiculous...
LouieGee 3 weeks ago
@LouieGee It's ridiculous if it is for Michael, but not for Senna right?
If...
... Michael wouldn't have broken his leg in 1999, he would have won the WDC. Just look how close Eddie Irvine got to winning the title.
... Michael's engine didn't blew up in Suzuka 2006, he would have won the WDC.
... His car didn't brake down at Monaco 2000, he would have equaled Senna in terms of winning the Monaco GP 6 times
Charkow1943 3 weeks ago
@Charkow1943 If Senna hadn't died in 1994, he would've been WC easily. The average Damon Hill almost was.
If Senna was still alive, he would've won in 1995, and the championships of 96 and 97 would be a piece of cake (since Williams was the dominant car). Then he would go to Ferrari and maybe would be WC there (I tottally believe so). Senna would be 7 x WC and Schumacher, until Senna retired, wouldn't be even once.
And his record of wins in Mônaco would be, at least, 10 or 11.
LouieGee 2 weeks ago
@LouieGee If Michael wasn't banned from 2 races and stripped off the Spa victory, he would have easily beaten Hill in the standings.
And the rest of what you say is just ridiculous. I am ready to take every bet that Michael would have beaten Senna in 94, even if he himself believed Senna would win the WDC. Ow yeah, and why would Senna have won them (according to you)? As you said by yourself, the best car would have been the reason.
Charkow1943 2 weeks ago
@Charkow1943 FIA did that because they took it too easy on Benetton when they found out they were cheating (fearing that if it happened the championship wouldn't be exciting) and then later they found a way to balance things again. Or don't you think that the 2 race ban was too much?
Senna would've won because he would have a better car after San Marino (Williams introduced their new and better version of the car after Senna died). He was doing ok with the previous (unstable) car.
LouieGee 2 weeks ago
@LouieGee No, FIA did ban Michael due to the Silverstone GP and his warm up lap, where he did a stupid mistake. Afterwards, it was the FIA's fault for causing confusion over how to hand out the penalty to the Benetton team. In Spa, where he was stripped of a victory, Benetton claimed that the underplate was smaller due to a heavy spin thru the kerbs at Blanchimont I think, but the FIA didn't believe them and Michael was the victim (once again).
Charkow1943 2 weeks ago
@LouieGee Senna on the other hand, did not ok at all, it was as usual, blindingly quick in qualifying (how was that possible if the Williams was so crap according to you), but in the races he fucked up. And no, don't come with the illegal TC-thing, they never found evidence for that, and tell me, how was Senna able to keep his position at the Start of Imola 1994 for example?
And the only reason why MSC said Senna was favourite was that he could behave in a way Senna couldn't: Modest.
Charkow1943 2 weeks ago
@Charkow1943 So you think that Benetton was the "villain" and Schumacher was a "poor victim"? He didn't know his boss was (and still is, as he proved in 2008) a fucking cheater? Schumacher didn't know his car had illegal softwares and fuel rig? C'mon...
Senna was quick in qualifying even with the unstable Williams as he was quick with the Lotus (which seemed to "dance" on the track) and the 1991 McLaren (which wasn't as good as Senna made it look).
LouieGee 2 weeks ago

LouieGee 2 weeks ago
@LouieGee Senna went into a race, knowing he would crash out Prost, putting both lifes, his own and Prosts in serious danger. Point.
Charkow1943 2 weeks ago
@LouieGee And of course every unfair move made by Senna or his team is nothing and minimized by you. Everything Michael has done is maximized to the very limit. I really should have quitted this discussion earlier, hardly ever seen such a biased Senna-fanboy. Your attitude is a disgrace towards Senna, if he could see what utter BS you are posting he would probably turn his back on you.
Charkow1943 2 weeks ago
@Charkow1943 Ok, you're the one talking shit you don't know about Senna (you're lying, by the way) and Senna would turn his back on ME? That's laughable... and if I'm a "Senna fanboy" you are a Schumacher's bitch, cause I've never seen anyone trying to say that Schumacher "didn't know" his car was illegal in 1994. And, worst of all, saying that Senna "tried to cheat" in Brazil, 1988.
About Senna x Prost, a lot happened before that. If you don't know, don't say crap.
LouieGee 2 weeks ago
@LouieGee Last thing: There is no excuse for what he did at Suzuka 1990, absolutely no excuse. No matter what happened before with JMB and the grid position (Senna was wrong about that btw), there is no reason to risk your own life and more importantly the life of another driver just because you have to take the wrong side on the grid.
And it's you lying, I clearly said that imo Michael didn't know about the fuel-rig, not that he didn't know anything about TC (which was never proven).
Charkow1943 2 weeks ago
@Charkow1943 He didn't do that only because of the grid position. He did that because of JMB helping Prost clinch his 3rd WC in 1989, disqualifying Senna and "robbing" his LEGITIMATE Suzuka victory.
Illegal software "was never proven". Dude, FIA requested to all teams to hand over their software for inspection. Benetton delayed that for a MONTH (getting fined) and STILL FIA could find the illegal software. Benetton claimed it was not used in races, only in tests. Hahahah, ok...
LouieGee 2 weeks ago
@LouieGee That Benetton was sliding a lot during corner exits in Brazil 1994 when Schumacher was pushing it to the limit, chasing down Senna. TC cars dont behave like that
beqa16v 1 week ago
@beqa16v The Benetton wasn't "sliding" out of the corners, and some ocasional "sliding" is normal, even with TC cars. Anyway, just hear what John Watson says:
Hear it at 15min and 48sec of the video: "the car, out of these slow corners, throughout the weekend has been the most impressive indeed, they seem to have traction where everybody else is claiming they have no traction at all".
Only Benetton seems to have traction... that's way suspicious.
/watch?v=B4-myINtC8o&feature=related
LouieGee 1 week ago
@Charkow1943 Oh, one more thing: why Senna was wrong about the grid positions? You don't EVEN KNOW exactly what happened but you still claim that "Senna was wrong anyway". This is such a childish way of thinking...
Again, about the 1990 incident, If I were in Senna's shoes, when JMB screwed him in 1989 (to help Prost), making him lose a victory and the championship and ALL the things that happened which you clearly don't have a fucking clue, I would have done the same thing.
LouieGee 2 weeks ago
@LouieGee These authors of the Senna documentary should be arrested for so much bias in their work! Even if Senna won in Japan 1989 he would not be the 89 WDC! Senna was subject to disqualifying in that race due to push start which is disallowed! Nobody promised Senna to change grid positions in Suzuka 90. The pole was always on that side, check 1989 start on Suzuka.
beqa16v 1 week ago
@beqa16v The movie is good, although I don't get my info from there. That's for amateurs. Senna wasn't DSQ for the push start, are you nuts? If a driver manages to re-start the engine when the Marshalls push his car out of the track (which they HAVE to do) that is a legal manouvre. You should know the facts before accusing other of being biased.
In 1990, Marshall's promised Senna they would change positions. Then, Ballestre gave the order, from a HOSPITAL BED: "do not change it".
LouieGee 1 week ago
@Charkow1943 continuing: So Schumacher could never know about something so damn obvious to the driver (as the software and the fuel rig) but Senna off course knew about something that is hidden under the car's chassi. Nice dude...
About Mônaco, in 1985: Peter Warr send Senna to the track with old tires. Senna returned to the pits and said "please don't tell me to do this again. I don't wanna win like that". Peter Warr himself told this story many times (including some biographies).
LouieGee 2 weeks ago
@Charkow1943 About Brazil, in 1988: LOL, are you joking? Senna's car failed so he tried to use his spare car. Everyone on the track saw Senna changing cars, I don't know how this is an atempt to cheat. The team didn't know if the marshalls would permit such a manouver and, just in case, Senna changed cars and went to the track, hoping he could continue in the race.
It took some time until the Marshalls decided it was not legal. To say this was an attempt to cheat is just childish.
LouieGee 2 weeks ago
@Charkow1943 As Nigel Roebuck said: "Senna won four in four races in a car which should not been winning."
About Senna "fucked up" the races? Are you fucking joking? In the first race he made a mistake, ok. Second race he got hit from behind by Hakkinen (who really fucked up) and third race his steering column broke. How did he fuck up in Aida and San Marino? This is such a biased comment.
LouieGee 2 weeks ago
@Charkow1943 By the way, when not even Schumacher himself can convince you that Senna would've won (and Schumacher is pretty convinced that Senna would if he was alive)... how can I?
LouieGee 2 weeks ago
@LouieGee
senna said in an interview 1993, we (mclaren) have the better car (than benetton), so why doesn't ford give us their best engine.
Mummins 2 weeks ago
@Mummins He never said that. He said "look how we are managing to be competitive with and underpowered car. They (Ford) are losing the chance of winning races. He never said anything about "best" or "worst" car than Benetton. In fact, back then everyone agreed that Benetton had also the best chassi, which was confirmed in 1994, when electronics were banned and later in 1995 when all big teams "copied" that chassi and nowadays every F1 team uses its basic principle.
LouieGee 2 weeks ago
@hunt2727 (continuing) It's strange how Schumacher struggled in Donington while even Barrichello with his poor Jordan overtook him and was faster than him on the wet. Michael was extremely quick indeed, but he was only quick when he had conditions that favored him (a car suited for him, tires, managers telling him what to do and when to stop).
Senna was fast in any conditions.
LouieGee 1 month ago
@LouieGee But Schumacher never gave up my friend, even in 96 when his car was terribly unrelieable and clearly inferior to the Williams, he was fighting and won 3 races, finishing 3rd in the standings. Senna on the other hand, gave up in 92 after he saw that his car was no match for the Williams and kept on bragging about going to Williams. When Schumacher was in a difficult situation, he accepted it and gave his best. Senna gave up in 92 and was looking for the best car. Point
Charkow1943 3 weeks ago
@Charkow1943 "Schumacher never gave up"? How would he give up if he had signed a contract? How would he give up if he knew in which territory he was goin' before signing to Ferrari? He was young and twice world champion, had plenty of time, the right team around him and loads of money to turn the Ferrari in a victorious car. You really think he did that out of "charity" to Ferrari?
And it's pretty easy to talk bad about Senna in 1992 when you don't know the facts.
LouieGee 3 weeks ago
@LouieGee Aw you know what: Let's stop here. There's no way we could ever agree on this issue anyway, it's not leading to anything constructive. For me personally Schumacher was way better than Senna has ever been, and your opinion is the opposite. I accept that.
Charkow1943 3 weeks ago
@Charkow1943 Ok... I can also accept that. But we were not talking about their quality as a driver. And I can never accept when people say that "Schumacher was a good guy because he stayed in Ferrari" and "Senna was a villain because he wanted to leave McLaren". This is simply unacceptable because it is a stupefying ignorance.
LouieGee 3 weeks ago
@LouieGee Senna's ride in 1993 was assisted by ABS, TC and active suspension - Michael's car in Spain 96 didn't have any of these aids - look what he was able to achieve. Senna won by such a big gap due to pitting less times than the others, Michael won Spain 96 due to his magnificent abilities in wet conditions.
Michael also finished 2nd in Spain 94 although having only the 5th gear left, clearly a proof that Michael was fast in any conditions.
Charkow1943 3 weeks ago
@Charkow1943 In 1993, Benetton, Williams, Ferrari and even Footwork had electronic aids. You talk like if Senna was the only one helped by them. What about Portugal, in 1985? Senna had a huge gap to everyone, lapping everyone except for the second place, driving an inferior car against double and triple world champions.
Schumacher, on the other hand, competed against unquestionably inferior drivers and he didn't manage to put such a difference to them.
LouieGee 3 weeks ago

ZZ1F1 8 months ago
@ZZ1F1 Don't forget that in those days schumacher was not the 7 times world champion. He was just an very good driver like Hamilton, vettel and alonso are today. So nobody was afraid but only curious how it was possible to be so fast on some circuits (compared to team mates).
bastiaan08 8 months ago
Who does he suck now?
c32amgftw 8 months ago
@c32amgftw Finally now you see Schumi is just a normal driver now he has a shit car. Should have stayed retired, now just making the numbers up.
bazman85 8 months ago
@bazman85 It's not really that he has a shit car. It's the kind of Formula 1 we now have. In the 90's where he was at his best, the car's were completly different. Now they are driving like on rails, you have to be complete cleane for a good round. Back in the 90's it wasn't like that. You could drive much much harder, use wheelspin and so on to be fast. That's not today...
ReLax232 8 months ago
@ReLax232 I don't know, i'm pretty sure it's the shit car, now, if he were driving a ferrari, red bull or mclaren im pretty sure he'd be champ again.
bazman85 8 months ago
You have to have good cars to win, period. Shumacher is still the greatest.

Today Schumi can't even land in the Top 10, getting his ass beat by guys in a Torro Rosso and Force India. Is it age or are the young drivers just so much better than he is or was?
AccordGTR 9 months ago
@AccordGTR Age, and probably struggling with the current machinery (the ruleset, chassis etc, not Mercedes in particular). I suspect psychologically he's not as strong as he used to be either.

Lishere656 9 months ago
The style Herbert uses is more with his hands. Both styles are fast but Schumacher has mastered throttle control so he's that slight bit better. Remember Schumacher isn't super human he is just trained. Anyone can go out and do what he does if they practice enough. I STILL think Schumacher is one of the greatest drivers ever.
FlyingCC 9 months ago
This is not some sort of superpower or amazing feat its scientifically explainable. Not to say I'm an expert but in my opinion Schumacher uses a driving style that uses the throttle primarily. His style allows him to drive the car on the ragged edge because he drives with his right foot and feels the car through the corner.
FlyingCC 9 months ago
I think there are many characteristics that make a driver perfect. Those are:
Speed,agression,patience,liability,experience, physical and psychological strength.
Some drivers have any of these elements but miss the others.
Michael Schumacher posseses all of them so that's why he was,is and will always be the best driver that the world has ever known.

this year we're going to witness a big improvement from him and his car, he may not win the title, but that whole team will be better this year. and to the guy below me saying that in "06 massa was becoming a match for him", don't forget that his only competition that year was alonso, and don't forget what happened in japan that year. cheers.

whats the songs name from 0:18 till 0:40?? many thanks.
schumacher is god!!
Untouchable1192 10 months ago

RRVCrinale 11 months ago
This video was made long time ago , it gives a clear understanding of why Schumacher has so many problems with F1 2010 cars , his driving style in early 90's was perfect for F1 of the past , the telemetry at 3:45 gives us the ultimate key , steering corrections in the corner was a + back then , it's ironic to think that what made him ahead of others , is now an handicap with more technologies and electronic for a driving style... Herbert driving style was more adapted for today's cars
vesivialvy 11 months ago
@vesivialvy Nowadays saving tires is ciritcal...Michael's style is really not for that, especially saving the rear ...
But Michael's style is for going fast...

the problem with schumacher now is that he's getting old and distracted, it's normal, nobody can drive forever, Vettel would be the same in 15 years
plus, schumacher got used to the ferarri, and even if you give him the easiest car to drive, he would still fail
he was champ seven times and I think that's enough
not to mention the fact that F1 brought schumacher back so that he will increase popularity of the season, so he doesn't need to drive much so he can get the money...

A true ledge.
