  • Just amazing match.... they both played great but Nalbandian is just a talent....

  • they make Yonex look SO good....

  • does that make Irene Roberts lleyton's mother-in-law?

  • such similar games kinda scary

  • very good match

  • My two great matches of AO R1:

    1. Verdasco v Tomic

    2. Hewitt v Nalbandian

  • Nalbandian is the most talented player to never win a slam... and yes, that puts him over Murray

  • @explodingpimp Marcelo Rios.

  • @explodingpimp Of course.

  • el mejor...

  • Is anybody who knows how long was that fight?

  • two player with injury in the ass still play that great...omfg

  • The epicness of this match can be summarized in just three words: Holy. Fucking. Shit.

  • Just from the first two points you can see how smart Nalbandian is.

  • Nalbandian and Federer are the only players that really take each ball early and stay close to the baseline. Now everybody stands 10 feet behind and hits with extreme grips and spin...

  • hewitt is the male wozniaki

  • this is some of the best tennis, I have ever seen in my life, what a competitive match! hell yeah!

  • It's not the racket head speed it's both his ability to hit it in the sweetspot and his big honkin powerful yonex. By far the most powerful racket on tour. He also hits it insanely flat.

  • @tennisprodigy11 no disrespect, but how are you so certain, that yonex raquets are the most powerfull raquets..there are quite a few variables, that influence power, such as strings, tension, raquet weight, frame stiffness, balance, raquet head speed, technique, as well.

  • One of the greatest 1st round matches in Grand Slam history.

  • @RoyalGrigsby *cough* isnermahut *cough*

  • Nalbandian is an absolute genius !

  • How Hewitt has 2 majors and Nalbandian has none is amazing to me.

  • @RossBayCult lack of fitness and mental strength

  • @RossBayCult probably because, hewitt is stronger mentally and physically.

  • @RossBayCult injuries and consistency

  • @RossBayCult Hewitt in 2001 and 2002 was absolutely amazing. He was by far the fittest player and was tactically spot on in the majority of his matches. Sure Nalbandian is heaps more talented, but Hewitt had the better game if we include mental strength and endurance into the mix.

  • @AllGenreMusic On top of that, prime Hewitt had the best footwork i've ever seen, just a joy to watch from a technical perspective, absolutely flawless.

  • @RossBayCult You know Hewitt beat Nalbandian in one of those finals.

  • @HappyFunTimeNoDrugs david had a really bad day that final. i don't know if hewitt beat david again after that final. nalbandian in the head to head owns him

  • @nsaberturas Actually their H2H is even. Hewitt dominated Nalbandian in the early days ('02-'05) but then Nalbandian started to really climb when Hewitt was fading away.

    Both players are incredible though.

  • How hewitt lost this match is beyond me. Nalbandian did play some awesome tennis though. Props to him,

  • @Mopzboy luck, hewitt had him in the bag should have won it in 4 sets when he had that match point, the other dop shot to save the match point by nalbandian was luck which nalbandian implied in his interview after the match

  • @kallo1234 Actually there was a mixture of skill and luck involved.

  • 15:03 is one of the few points that nalbandian reach the ball running that fast, it has to do with the importance of the point, in other context he wouldn´t had run that

  • Nalbandian's backhand is so beautiful to watch. He disguises it so well. Great technique and posture. Simply awesome.

  • Nalbandian isn't wearing blue 0.0. FAKE

  • and he had to retire in his next match because this one fucked him up bad

  • @nugzyss

u not say dis rasisit shitz on de utube?!??!

  • @mjsupafly first of all, learn grammar.... the point of my comment was that this match was so hard fought and long that he found it too much for him to continue on in the tournament... not racist at all

  • @nugzyss

    fuk 2u rasist bich

  • @mjsupafly how can i be the racist one when i am an indigenous australian? yeah you fucked up didn't you? i get targeted a fair bit for being aboriginal so why would i sink to their level? fucking idiot

  • @nugzyss

hey brah i cheked ur proifile, nd it seys dat u is wite so liek wwft.//?

  • @mjsupafly hahahahaha you really are an idiot, not anywhere on my profile does it say i am white nor black... i am an aboriginal australian so why dont you just fuck off and annoy someone else because you just are not going to win here

  • @nugzyss

nah homes, it liek dat u hav detz wite skinz n shit

  • @mjsupafly no just no.... stop being an idiot on youtube and go make a living alright, you will enjoy life a hell of a lot more.. now goodbye

  • @nugzyss

a blakass liek de ridez dem up da sixfows

  • Nalbandian= A wasted talent

  • i predicted the outcome of this match. while watching no matter how close it was i knew hewitt just doesnt have it anymore. hes not aggressive enough and nalbandian seems to raise his game against hewitt

  • go Nalb !!! the beast :) ...fantastic backhand

  • that awesome moment at match point when the crowd realizes the lob was going in. because it was a lob, everybody went from hope to despair and finally acceptance in about 2 seconds. Just beautiful.

  • such an excelent match

I am argentinian, but I respect Hewitt a lot, I like his playing style

both players showed determintion and skill in this match

as everybody says "old balls still bounces"

  • KING DAVID RULES

  • what a great finish - Nalbandian giving Hewitt a taste of his own medicine (topspin lob) in the last point.

  • How did he manage to put that much pace to the slice at 11:24???

  • Where's you COME ON now???? xD

  • Horrible scoreboard!!!

  • 7:26 so gay

  • @cj397

What does that mean, it's cool?

  • AWESOME MATCH ¡

  • what an incredible high-light reel and i bet an even better match!!!! gracias for the upload joopvanthofff

  • when nalbandian is accurate with his shoots, he is the best. nalby > all

  • Australian Open 2005's revenge in 2011 :)

  • Every person that loves tennis will be very sad when Nalbandian retires. You can agree about his lack of work ethic, consistency, focus for tennis etc., but David is a rare tennis genius that is able to produce magic on a tennis court. I have seen magic on a tennis court only from four players; Sampras, Rios, Federer and Nalbandian. He dissapointed me so many times even i am not his greatest fan but he manages somehow with his amazing talent to get under your skin. Thank you for the magic David.

  • @andydufresne87 I think i'll be more sad when Hewitt retires than Nalbandian !

  • @redasdu84 I will so, David is so irregular. and when you bet like me, its good to have a regular player like Lleyton in the circuit for win some money, putting it on the other guy.

Best Nalbandian beat the best Federer a few times, beat Nadal, beat Djokovic, beat Murray, semifinals in the 4 gs, won a master against Federer number 1, two master series beating Federer and Nadal. hewitt? number 1 in a bad moment for tennis, when level increased he dissapeared.

  • @devilemperor123 Haha. Very funny. A bad moment for tennis ? That's fun, Hewitt and Nalbandian played in the Wimbledon final, and Hewitt totally crushed Nalbandian. The argentine has never been good in big matches. Like you said, he made semi-finals in the 4 slams. He lost them all. Hewitt made 4 grand slam FINALS. The two he lost were against an incredible Federer and an incredible Federer. Hewitt is a fighter, a real champion. Nalbandian will ever be an underachiever. That's the difference.

  • @redasdu84 for Nalbandian, being 3 in 2006 back to Roger and Nadal (later Federer said David deserved be number 1 this year but injuries didnt let him) was like for Hewitt being number 1 when Safin and Agassi were the only hard guys. Hewitt matured so fast, thats why he beat David in 2002. But what happened in 2005, playing Davis in Australia, when both were consolidated in the circuit? Nalbandian destroyed Hewitt, made him look ridiculous in front of his people.

  • @redasdu84 who could beat the best Federer, the best Nadal, in important matches? Hewitt? Did he ever beat Roger, maybe when he was starting his career?

  • @devilemperor123 That's fun, Hewitt beat Federer last year, in the Halle final :)

  • @andydufresne87 sampras magic??? are you kidding me?

  • it's sad that Hewitt and Nalby hasn't played well since this match, it seems :/

  • @riceranger12345 Yeah it sorta looks like this epic match drained their fragile bodies for the 2011 season. Their not exactly young and full of energy anymore lol. Both pretty much eventually had injuries after this match and never recovered their form. That's too bad I guess :\

  • Very up-and-down match by both guys. 3rd and 4th sets were weird. But overall, there was some great shot making in this match -- well played.

  • hewitt was an agressive player now is just a pusher :/

  • @MultiSuperyo Hewitt has always been a counterpunch. Andy Roddick on the other hand.

  • @TheBobbyStones well, i mean with all his resourses and experience he must be one of the top ten his game is very complete he used to be a recogized player but now he has`t the same spirit

  • nalbandian just doesn't like hewitt as long as he beat him he was happy ha ha ha

  • Such an amazing player D. Nalbandian. We need to see him more often in big tournaments.

  • fuck hewwit pice of shit

  • @dassmanen44 fuck off u dickhead

  • Nalbandian deserve reallly more wins in big tourmanents...............

  • @Brian18981 Off course ¡¡¡¡ anyway he won one master cup , two master series tournament , did one grand slam final and he did semis in alll the g slams

  • damn that takes a lot of heart to go that long like that

  • two old dinosaurs plugging away

  • hewitt is so predictable

  • Is nalbandian saying allez??? must be hearing things

  • @TennisCoachno1

    Dale

  • @TennisCoachno1 He is saying DALE!

  • It's so not funny that these guys met in the first round. Why would the Australian Open decide to screw over its own player? Why would any tournament pit these prized bulls against each other on the least expensive day! Bastards! HOW CRUEL! I WANTED NALBANDIAN TO GET FAR DAMN ITadsfkjsga

  • 11:24->sweet..

  • Nalbandians shot at 08:39 is fucking insane..

  • why nalby's backhand so epic? It's almost like a spring whenever he unloads on it even after hours of play. The racquet head speed is unmatched.

  • really best match of 2011!!!!

  • Are tennis commentaries always this boring in Australia ?

  • Best match of 2011 so far.

  • this video makes me think hewitt is a better player

  • I was out of my seat when i was watching this!

  • most enjoyable match and result for nalbandian for me. thanks for the vid!

  • this was an amaizing match

  • Thanks, great highlights!

  • Thanks a lot.

  • the quality of this match is even higher than that of the final. unfortunately fatbaldian has terrible stamina and retired the next match

  • Comment removed

  • @eclecticist0 "Fatbaldian" HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHA
