  • Amazingly nice noodle! Could you list which modules you used in this patch (if you remember)? Just starting on my first a100 three row case. I'm not a modular noob, but this will be my first Doepfer system.

I'm starting out with a filtering setup before I move on to oscillators and other stuff. The 106-6 sounds like a fun start.

  • @riaiaikido1 2x A110 1x A103, 1x A124, 1x A106-6, 1x A155, 1x A150/151, 2 x A143-3, 2x A147 1x A117- those were the main ones, can't remember what else as I no longer have this system.

  • @darenager Thanks!

  • That sound is phenominal. Nice one!

  • N I C E !!! : )

  • 0_____0

  • Grossartig!

  • More squelching than a wet Glasto!!!

  • cool. i like it! :)

  • is that the 3 pole output on the filter? sounds really squelchy when you open it up. love it!

  • very nice!!

  • My man this is a amazing tune and sequence, this should be on a album

  • Nice! The Bassdrum sounds really great! How du you get such a great sound? Is it a modulated sine through a waveshaper?

  • Thanks, if I remember correctly it is just a fast envelope into the cv, and another really fast one into the sync input to ensure the attack phase is consistent. Then sine output into the vca which was controlled by the first envelope.

  • Do I actually need a lot of LFO's to sequence all those things at once (because I read you need the square wave output of an LFO as a tempo source, no matter if you use sequencer A-155 or not)?

I'm asking because I'm planning my own modular system at the moment. How can I sequence so many things at once like you do? Do I only need enough sound sources like VCOs and Noise sources, or do I also have to make sure there are enough LFOs?

I'd be great if you could explain how you sequence all this

  • Hi, I am just using 1 LFO to clock the A-155, the A-155 is doing the bulk of the sequencing. I'd recommend at least 2 LFO's though, and at least 4 envelope generators.

  • Hi, thanks so much :)

Why would you recommend that many envelope generators? Currently I'm building a system of 3 rows, like your first system. I only planned two envelop generators so far, 1 for the filter/pitch and 1 for the Amp. Or do you think that won't be enough? How many things did you actually sequence at once in this track?

Also, am I right that the A-155 is only capable of sequencing 8 steps? Wouldn't you prefer 16? 8 steps seems to be...not enough somehow.

  • Envelopes can be used for lots of things, the A143-2 is 4 in one module and I would recommend it.

I was sequencing a bassline, kick, snare and hi-hat. You can do 16 steps with the A-155 by switching between the upper and lower row, using a voltage controlled switch.

  • Thanks so much once again for all the info...I see the A-154 (the sequencer controller) indeed has the 16-step switch you were talking about. But does module A-150 do the job as well (simple VC switch, nothing else)? It's cheaper and smaller...:)

  • Yes, the A-150 is what I have. You can PM me if you want to know anything else.

  • Oh, just one more thing: Do you think that the A-156 Double Quantizer is also necessary to run A-155 properly?

  • No it is not necessary, but if you want precise notes it makes it easier.

  • Another wicked one Daren!!!

  • ultra sound ich liebe acid es gibt nix besseres auf der weld^^

  • I'm digging this.

  • dark magic

  • LOVE YOUR VIDS.. KEEP THEM COMIN :)

  • Liking that a lot. Keep up the good work.

  • good to see modulars being used for something other than noise!

  • This could be used on an Interlect 3000 album.

  • I love it at 4:00 when you lower the resonance.

  • goddamn is that ever a deep sounding synth

  • Love this toy. There is a really good clip of Alexander Robotnik on you tube somewhere messing with one of these bad boys somewhere, love the sound.

  • I saw Carl Criag Perform Live Using A modular system and looping it all in to tracktor, It was fucking nuts.

But your tweaking the hell out of that thing man. Nice job, I always was looking in to getting one or two racks worth of some real synthy/ electro mod system and suggestions?

  • Dude that's sooo cool. I wish I could do taht stuff too : /

  • That looks like a power plant. Sounds grreat.

  • Best groovebox ever

  • makes my dark energy look like a toy :)

    cheers from event studios nottingham

  • damn good

  • WTF??? that looks like 1 of those old phone opperators. thats awesome m8 some amazing sounds u gettin there ..!

  • How much did the Doepfer cost?

  • @d3mon776 Average about 100 euros per module.

  • @darenager Hmm i must say that's not that expensive

And you have what 2 or 4?

Nice Video BTW The Doepfer is amazing You should check out the latest album by GusGus they use the Doepfer on almost every song on there new album

  • What the hell.. That's even to weird for me. You're sucking some nice sounds out of your magical device. ;)

  • Fantastic :)

  • awesome :)

  • Man...sooo many knobs to twiddle! Paradise. I would love to build a modular system somewhere down the line - are they easy enough to sync up really rightly with other digital gear for live performance? Keep on posting man.. :)

  • @siedgey Yeah there are tons of ways to integrate them with modern gear now, midi-cv or software. But be warned it is addictive :)

  • addictive is an understatement...more like crack for gear heads

  • @phono1337 ;)
