Well it's obviously a gas motor which leaves two options for the 2500. It's either the 6.0L or the 8.1L. There's another video here on youtube of someone with an 8.1L STS turbo setup and it sounded a bit different and had a bit more power it looked like. I'd guess this is the 6.0L. Wonder how much boost its running though...

Yeah they are mounted underneath the truck, there is a shield you can get that covers the underside though. If your still worried about the air intake for the turbo, you can probably build a intake tube from the turbo farther up into the truck that would be free from mud. As far as dirt and sand (what I deal with) the shield should be just fine

I have a 2500hd which has the 80le trans. The 80le can handle the power. I did increase the line pressure for harder faster shifts and changed all the shift points.
