Convert iPhone Voice Memo to MP3

When I click 'Get Info' there is nothing in the bottom box where it says 'Where:' and I think that's my problem. How do I do that or 'save' it to my computer somewhere? I can't figure it out. Thanks.

this helped alitte. i have a more mordern version of itunes but in the mordern one to create a mp3 is called "acc". its wonderful.

@HelloMello17 make sure you can actually play the file first before trying to convert it. Did you recently move your iTunes folder?

I'm on a PC, the option to convert to MP3 is greyed out. I checked the file type and it's an .aac file. Also, when I click on the info section, it doesn't tell me where the file is located.

i have created a few memos and i plugg in my phone and it doesnt show a playlist for voice memos.

Mine only has the option in converting to AAC.

Even before I converted them they weren't compatible with Audacity.

@punkyfosho if you only see AAC, you need to go into the iTunes preferences and change it to .mp3 instead of .aac. I made a video on that too

after you convert it you could just right click and select "show in windows explorer".

Then, it's right there in front of you, no searching or making changes to your iTunes directory.

There was a question that didn't get answered that I have as well...once I convert my file to MP3, I can't find it...all I can see in the folder is the original. Where is the MP3 version?

you can search for the name of the original file or sort all your songs by "creation date" to find the mp3 you just created.

you can't email audo from iTunes but you can email voice memos from the iPhone.

Maybe, 10 years from now, all this will be much easier in terms of sharing. Look how many millions have a Gmail account! 16 to 80 year olds!.

on the Mac version, under 'Advanced' it does not have the 'Create MP3 version.' Instead, it has 'create AAC version'

In order to make the MP3 version show up on a Mac, you need to go into the "Preferences" > Generals and down to "When you insert a CD" > "Import settings" and change the Import to MP3.

My Memo's do not appear to go into a 'Playlist', I go into itunes with my iphone connected. but I have no way of accessing the memo unless I email it to myself, then i open it with itunes, tryed 'advanced' and there is no such option as convert to mp3 version, I can only do WAW versions. Help?

In order to be able to convert your iPhone memos to .mp3, you need to make sure you've selected for them to be copied over to your computer.

With your iPhone plugged in, click the iPhone icon in iTunes, go to the "Music" tab and make sure "Include Voice Memos" is checked.

Ahh yes they appeared in the iphone music libary, (Sorted it now) but I assumed it automatically created a Memo playlist where I'd be able to find it and have the mp3 option. but i just had to change the output thing to mp3 instead of WAW

To get the option to convert to mp3, go to Edit/Preferences. Then click on import settings. Under the "Import using" select "MP3 Encoder" Good luck!
