@kunaid3 you are out of luck. You can only restore to 3.1.2 if you saved your shsh files. It gonna have to update to stock 4.0

@XimontageiX download ireb from ih8sn0w then try again, after you get the error go to ireb then put it in dfu mode when ireb runs your devices screen will turn white close ireb then restore and it will work

it was version 3.1.2 jb with blackrain snowbreeze went through its paces it seemed to be working and created 4.0 ipsw thought it worked then when i restored it showed it as 3.1.3 wow

@Sietsetjeh Everything looks good. One tricky thing about the firmware is that all 4.0 firmware is 8A293 but there are two different builds of it. Make sure that you are not downloading the GM or Gold Master build.

@supermotox55 A PB or PC model is the same as a MB or MC model. The only difference is that it is an engraved model. So no, sn0wbreeze will not work for your model. Spirit will work for you though as soon as it's out.

@brantmoore13 If you are backed up then you shouldn't lose anything. As soon as iTunes is done restoring your custom firmware just select your backup.

@duncan33303 yep when i synced before i restored to 4.0 the backup finished and everything. Then when i restored my ipod name didnt even show up on the backup list. Instead there was one that said ipod touch. I picked that one and even before being jailbroken my custom ipod logo was there plus all my mail, contacts, and pictures were there. But none of my apps were there.

@TechnoManPro If you are on 4.0 it will not work. You need to be on 3.1.2 and jailbroken by something other than Spirit.

To those who are asking about the alternative method, it's quite difficult and not working very well at the moment. If it gets easier or becomes more reliable I will make a video on how to do it. Otherwise wait until Spirit comes out.

@FSbeats17 At the end of the tutorial you are jailbroken on iOS 4. You do need to be on 3.1.2 for the tutorial but using sn0wbreeze you are able to restore to a jailbroken iOS 4.
