Radiation (RF EMR) from ECO DECT Phone vs regulare DECT phone

It looks like the ECO mode PLUS is not available for the Gigaset phones in the US. Only the ECO DECT mode is available.

Can you please tell us how much the base station radiates when it is in ECO DECT mode only, and not in the PLUS mode? Thank! :)

No As far as I know there is no ECO DECT PLUS Phone in the US

You can buy it in Europe when you travel or you can get a RF meter and look for old (not DECT) phones that does not emit RF EMR all the time.

If I understand correctly, you're saying that ECO DECT phones transmit the same amount of radiation, but only during a call (unlike regular DECT that do this 24/7). True? Have you tested Panasonic's 2011 line of DECT phones that have Intelligent ECO mode that lowers power when you're close to the base?

The most importent mode is the ECO DECT PLUS that shuts the RF emittion from the base station when not making a call. untill today I found this feature only on siemens's ECO DECT phones.

The second feature (that other wnew dect phone hase) is the ECO DECT that limit the RF radiation emitted from the hand set and the basestation accroding to the distence between them, when making a call.

The Panasonic phones have what they call "DECT Plus", but I'm not sure it's the same feature as what you're referring to (no RF when not in use). Do you know? Maybe it tells on their website and I missed it. If so, it has both of those features.

As far as I know Panasonic does not have a "no radiation on standby phone". What they do have are many models of DECT 6.0 Plus phones that are not low radiation.

The largest and most harmful rf radiation is from the sun - it can actually burn you in a matter of minutes and can cause cancer. Wifi, DECT, remote controls, domestic electric lighting, electric wiring etc. all pale in comparison to the sun and cause no objectively observable damage. People who swear that RF gives them headaches can not tell when they are exposed any better than chance when tested in a proper double blind test, it is a combination of hypochondria and urban myth.

I can tell when a RF source is on or off, so does other EHS.

RF radiation from a wifi router or a DECT phone that is llocated on your working desk is not pail,. it is constant and strong and it will cause damge.

DECT emit RF 24/7 from it's base station. ECO dect only when you use it to call.

I personally know several people how use to put DECT phone next to their bedside and had headaches for years, when the phone was removed their condition improved dramatically

I think every level is dangerous, I and other EHS people feel pain even few meters away from a DECT base station.

On standby mode only the base station emit RF radiation, the Charger does not.

Are you sure it is not a base station?

Again, I think there is no healty level of RF or ELF EMR.

Biological, none related heat, effects even at very low level , I can't give you a link here (since youtube do not allow it) so just search on google or visit my site and go to the studies page.

When there are multiple source and frequencies (from DECT+WIFI+cellphone+Bluetooth in the same room , for example) the measurement becomes very complexed. All the standards in the world does not take into consideration multiple sources, only single source.

Every person is different, and everyone have different “frequency windows” for which he is sensitive (even if he does not feel it right a way).

dect phones are labeled as such, either on the original packaging, original sale description info, or on the phone itself. they are not the same as regular cordless phones. so i hope no rad is making sure that he is making the distinction between regular cordless and dect cordless.

Dect phones and most cordless phones that are sold today transmit all the time from their base station, even when not being used. On the other hand not all "ECO" cordless phones are "low radiation phones.

I am sorry but I don't remember the model number. If you want to be 90% sure read the manual of the model and search for the paragraph that explains about the eco mode. Usually there are 2 modes the first one limit the power transmission and the second shut the transmission off when the headset is in the base station. If you want to be 100% sure take a RF meter to the store and test it.

I notice that Panasonic claimed "intellectual Eco", which switchs the emission power by distance. The most recent models claim "One-Touch Eco Mode", which reduces power manually. Now I am confused that whether Panasonic's newest models still support auto adjustment.

Of course, if Eco DECT is a general standard, then there would be no problem with Panasonics.

ECO DECT is not a standard. Every company does something else, from all the phones I have tested yet only some of SIEMENS phone are really low radiation.

The worst thing about DECT phone is that the base station emits RF EMR all the time. In SIEMENS ECO DECT phones you can configure the base station not to do that (it will emit some RF only when during conversation), in other phones that I tested, they don't have this option.

Corded phone are very cheep. the cost can go from 5US$ to 100 US$,, and you can find them all around.

The best thing to do it to have a corded phone in every room.

It depends on the model and in some cases (ECO DECT PLUS) on the distance from the base station.

In general you can say that it is the some type of radiation as in a cellphone.

The importent thing is that all DECT phone emit this radiation all the time even on standby mode. Some eco DECT PLUS phone emit this radiation only during conversation which make them less bed than regulare DECT phones.

ECO PLUS mode has to be set manually. I think that both types of cordless phones are bad for the health. ECO DECT seems to be less dangerous, but I prefer the land line. The land line is safe, but I can not run around the house with it and look cool. Well, I don't want a  brain tumor the size of an orange. I guess I will have to stay healthy and call from a land line. Have you ever noticed how people pace up and down while on a cordless phone, I wonder why do they do that. Great video 5/5*

You are 100% right. Both are bad, but regular DECT phone are the worst. The fact that it's base station emit EMR all the times shows that the people who designed the phone gave no thinking about the EMR pollution is create's.

I also use only wired landlines phones. If I am near a DECT phone I feel bad after few seconds.

I don't know way people walk around while on the DECT or mobile phone, maybe is arouse some part of the brain that cause them to walk?

There is another option- a non DECT phone with a headset, while the handset is about a meter from me always. I have compared between my old non DECT phone, and a new dect phone. Beside the issue on this video, the general radiation of all DECT phone, is about 6 times more then a non DECT phone. This is why a DECT phone can be operated in much more far distance. Look for some non DECT phone with a 2.5mm headset jack. You can find these cordeless 2.4Ghz phones at eBay, as well as Panasonic headset

Yes a non DECT phone will usually emit less EMR than a DECT phone.

The problem is that it is very hard to find new NON DECT phones on the market and that you need to have EMR meter to be 100% sure.

I know several people who went to the store and asked for a NON DECT phone and the stupid sells man gave them a phone that does not have the DECT logo but operates the same way, emitting EMR all the time.

Good Video! Everybody should care about the radiation!!! Most people dont do cause they just believe it does not matter if their body is absorbing radiaton of WLAN, DECT, Mobile Phones all the time.

The worst thing about the DECT phones is that their base station emit EMR all the time and some people put them near their bed side or on the working desk and buy that they are being exposed to RF EMR all the time for several hours a day.

You can find this info at the product website. Usually it's a Siemens brand, that has the ECO MODE and ECO MODE PLUS.

ECO DECT is just a name for saving energy feature of these model. These units are also transmiting almost zero radiation when the handset in docked. ECO MODE, is reducing transmition power up to 80%, even when the handset is not docked. ECO MODE PLUS, is also puting the handset into a standby position, so there is not transmition from the base, until there is a call.
