Dude!!! thats the spring valley range! thats my range as well, cool vid and it helped me out...i was looking at 3x mags and was wondering if it would be enough, i know now that i will be getting a 5x or 7x. just cause i like to do longer distance bull shooting along with standing short range, thanx for the vid and maybe we will run into each other out there
@goodbeer111 Yep, its a handy place to have near by if you can manage not to get shot there. I watched the one guy look down the barrel of his rifle to see if a round was stuck in it. That was after he muzzled a few people... Can't beat the price of the place though!
youre assuming that your potentially tactical emergency shoot out will be to your time fram standards and that the bad guys will wait while u get you stuff squared away, thats a typical civilian thought... usually when the s**t hit's the fan whether your at home or in combat.. it happens when u least think it will.. or when ur tired.. or when ur taking a dump... or busting a nut.. or when its cold.. or raining.. or extememly hot.. so just a thought.. but otherwise you got great optics anyway
@shootload1911 The idea is that its not going to be an emergency to have to shoot someone 200-300 yards away and if someone is coming from that distance I have time to put the magnifier on. Sitting in my house I can't see that far away anyway, so there is going to be no "need it on now" emergency that I'd be dealing with. So I figure I have a little time.
@snareman95 Well I'm just saying that the bolt catch and charging handle upgrades, wierd fore-arm, the two optics, and that wierd fore-arm grip thing, would make anyone I know uncomfortable. The stock is fine though I guess.
@HitTheWheel Anything is uncomfortable to someone that isn't used to it. I'd be fairly uncomfortable with a 1911 with all the levers, switches, cockers and decockers. I just hardly ever shoot one of them. I'm plenty comfortable with the use of everything on my rifle though. Its just a matter of practicing and becoming proficient with whatever you have. If I was in the Marines I might feel differently I suppose as I don't think their rifles have as much on them.
sweet set up, how much did the two sights cost individually? im sure they were costly because of the name " AIMPOINT" they are no joke they make good stuff and it's expensive from what iv'e seen... so im thinking you dropped about the cost of a new ar-15 for what you paid for both of those aim point's am i right?
Hey thanks for the review, you did a really nice job, is the 3x not enough for the 100 yd? I was debating getting something that provides more magnification
@anyvideoanywhere Thanks for watching. I'd say that it does pretty well at 100 unless you want 1" groups in which case you'd need something with more power.
I like your video but that son of a bitch in the background is very very annoying... 3 inches to the left and 4 inches to the right, your low, shoot lower, go to the left .. your 5 inches too high... Jesus Christ the guy can't shoot worth a shit...
@snareman95 So with aimpoint pro(without magnifier) can you shoot with mid to far ranges ,Im talking at least from 0 to 300 yards? and if so can you shoot smaller targets precisely with the simple dot and does it magnify?
@Ascenscion123 I've only tried it out to 175yards thus far and it wasn't too bad, but was definitely better with the magnifier attached. I have a 300 yard course coming later this year. Its probably going to be hard to see stuff at 300 yards without magnification (just assuming).
@snareman95 you get a better overall field of view when its right up against it., never tried it with the twist mount so that could be a problem twisting it on like you said., i run the M4s with 3x but its in a LT pivot mount so i dont have to take it on and off., but yea, try n get it closer. i actually run my m4s one notch back then where your at now., it lines up better one back with the magazine well as well., and the ejection port door., try it one back for a week and tell me u dont like it
@snareman95 you wont lose your zero either if you just move the PRO back one.. i kno you cant move the 3x cause the eyer elief on those.., well mine anyways., SUX.., so just move the PRO back 1 PLEASEEEEE., thx., CPL ENT., US ARMY
@Smokin07ram Thanks! Yea, I've never had it out in the rain so I'm not sure. I'm taking 3 AR classes this year which are rain or shine. Maybe I'll find out, but hopefully not!
thanks for posting the vid, super helpful! I'm really torn between the Aimpoint w/ 3x magnifier vs. a Trijicon Acog.... think the only thing the Acog now has going for it is the bullet drop compensator :-p
hey thanks for the info, I ended up getting the 3x mag off amazon for $360 so not too bad. still waiting for aimpoint to return my call about the s/n being real or not (you never know) but I noticed you removed your rear sight to get this to fit on your receiver. I have BUIS and I think i might have to do the same thing because the eye relief just isn't right, either that or move the aimpoint pro a few spaces up onto my free float rail.. what do you think is the better option?
@tactical4587 All BUIS are back on the gun. I put on a Daniel Defense Omega Rail (check out my review) and moved the Aimpoints forward a few notches leaving space for the front and rear Magpul sights to be put back on the gun. I haven't made a vid yet showing it though.
I looked at prices for these items and everywhere Ive seen is about 700 for the mount and magnifier, combine that with 800 for the red dot and mount, and your talking the optics cost more than what the gun cost! i paid 1700 for my stag model 8 out the door, these sights are cool but are they the value of another gun cool?
@tactical4587 Botach has the 3x and twist mount for 3 something. Aimpoint PTO that I have was ~$400. Its definitely a lot, but at least less than the price of the gun. I think I paid $1100 or 1300 - can't remember exactly which now. I'd always heard that the optics would cost as much as the gun...
what model mount were you going to get? i want to get the pivot mount from larue but am unsure of the model that i need to get to line up correctly with the PRO
@RyanHoulio The way I have it set up, from the back of the magnifier mount to the front of the PRO mount is 5 7/8" and from the back of the magnifier itself to the front of the PRO is 10 3/8"
@RyanHoulio It'd be tight. The problem would be the space between the two. Its its too close it will be hard to twist the magnifier off. You could look at the flip over mount that I talk about at the end. Its more expensive, but you can put them much closer together.
The twist on/off mount is the better choice. Having carried an M-4 on many road marches and patrols both domestically and abroad, I know the less weight you have on a weapon offers the operator less fatigue and more maneuverability. The last thing you want is extra weight and bulk hanging off your weapon. The twist on/off mount provides the operator a quick on/off solution. Performing twist on/off drills, an operator can become just as effective with the magnifier.
@cyborgee1 Sorry for the confusion. I just hadn't tightened the screw enough when I first put it on and every time I fired the rifle it would get a little looser. Its perfectly fine now that I tightened it down.
Dude!!! thats the spring valley range! thats my range as well, cool vid and it helped me out...i was looking at 3x mags and was wondering if it would be enough, i know now that i will be getting a 5x or 7x. just cause i like to do longer distance bull shooting along with standing short range, thanx for the vid and maybe we will run into each other out there
