The switch for the pickups is good no issues volume pots are good wiring in mine is awesome no rats nest very well wired. It needed a fret polish to compare to gibson but epiphones need a polish if that helps.Mine is better than epiphone and better than some usa gibsons.usa gibsons are hit and miss on quailty too so.I you are rich buy usa if you are on a budget and know how to do setups then get these.Youtube has lots of info on setups easy to do great guitar to pratice setups also.
To anyone wanting to know on pickup change or anything.I own one of these they are awesome guitars but hit and miss on quailty mine is great has upgraded GFS crunchy PAFS with a setup there are great mine beats my friends usa gibsons not saying its better than every usa gibson just the ones I came across. They need hardware upgrades other than that they are made very well.Just bad hardware.Mine cost 200 bucks GFS pickups are cheap price great pickups.30 bucks each pickup.
Hi,all you guys talk about Dave. You are going to make this motherfucker rich. All the sellers on tradetang dhg and other sites has access to the same guitars, the sellers dont build the guitars.I got 3 Gibson 2 from dave, the first one is ok but not exactly what i ordered, the second one was very bad,so i changed the seller,The first guitar a ordered from the new seller was a black beauty not bad,the second one arrived with a broken neck...Avoid this seller Hihamusic.
thank you so much for telling me about tradetang dude ..im geting a prs santana copy and its $300...even if i do have to put work into it its 5 times cheaper than a usa one
No offense intended friend, but you and everyone else are stabbing gibson and all the hard working employees there in the back by buying a guitar like this. Gibson's are affordable, you just have to save up for a while for them. There is no quality control in china, who knows what this guitar is made with.....lead, asbestos, by children? lol Keep buisness in the U.S. and save up for a gibson. Then play a bunch and pick the one you want. You'll feel good about it. Just my opinion.
@Huckit87boof Gibsons are grossly overpriced. They build 'em for around $400-$500 and then sell 'em to us for $2,500-$4,000. And they're loaded with Asian-made parts! So sad.
want to get one for mod purposes would you it be great with new pickups and hardware? and also how can i find the seller dave on trade tang? please private message me....if you can thanks for the review
so is this essentially an epiphone with a gibson copy headstock? i have a gibson ultima copy with the tree of life inlay and it plays just like my epiphone custom
@rh72919 Probably, but people put all Gibson parts into these Chinese guitars to justify the "GIBSON" on the headstock. I think if it is set up and modded it can sound a lot like the real Gibson, but not as much of a "bite" as a authentic Gibson. I think some people are better at modding and setting up the guitar though. I can't wait till mine arrives in the mail, God bless China! lmao
Just got my LP Custom from Dave today. TV Yellow finish...Sounds, plays good. I don't think I'll change anything on it...The headstock is killer-sharp-looking.
Hey Everyone, I have a bunch of these made by dave from tradetang. i put all gibson parts on it (wirering, pickups, tuners, ect.) the thing rocks! i even put in a faber tune-o-matic. If you want to buy it, i will sell it for $500 + Shipping. Which is a steal. If you want it PM ME! i will take paypal.
Why put Real Gibson PUPs into it??? You know and I know there are much better PUPs out there and cheaper as well as more expensive. I put Seymour Duncan PUPs in my Chester. And recently I went to a Guitar Shop and played their real deal come home and play mine and man they sound really close.
I want to nuy this. from dave. can you please tell me what is the angle of the headstock and does it compare to a gibson headstock angle? Please reply fast as i am about to book this. thank you
my advice is if you are gona buy get the guy to send by ems and declere the item as a gift that way you will adoid customs duty but will pro take longer to reach you
@OutsideThe9ine I believe you have to pay import tax on pretty much anything. A lot of consumers get away with it because the foreign retailers know it's in their interest to label the goods as gifts.
Gibson could change that situation by getting cheaper they are truely overprice i got a original Gibson Les Paul Standard i would not buy a second one cause as all Gibson guitars the are just overpriced and sometimes the qualtiy of the original gibson guitars is also leaking is not as it should be for the price you pay.
dude what's the problem the guitar is great and about 2000$ more expensive than a real gibson... and the sound is very good for 200$, amazing actually
Counterfeiting is wrong and illegal. You are robbing money off legitimate companies who have spent money defending trademarks. You can buy anything you want but think about the people who could potentially lose their jobs because of the loss of sales that are caused by these fake les pauls. If you wanted a good les paul you'd rather get a Burny, Agile, Orville, Epiphone, Greco or Tokai of all which are of better quality than this guitar.
@mosnaidei You're right, but it's also wrong for big greedy companies like Gibson to price gouge. They build 'em for $500 and then sell 'em to us for $2,500+. They lowered manufacturing costs by using Asian parts but instead of passing the savings on to us, they raised their prices to increase profits. And when Gibson moved the Epi factories to China in 2002, that's when we started seeing an explosion of these fakes.
@mosnaidei Gibson created this monster. That's what they get for being greedy and moving production to where the labor is cheaper. China is the counterfeit capital of the world and they have been for a long time. Gibson basically taught the counterfeiters how to build their guitars.
I will answer this question I have looked at these other guitars the only one I like is epiphone and where are those made and I can tell you I took anything away from any one as gibson is way to pricey and I would have never purchased one from them so no harm done I do own an epiphone custom and my chinese gibson plays better but we dont want to cut on epiphones now or do we
@fssales1 True but Epiphone is licensed by gibson and a guitar which is not Gibson Les Paul should not be advertised as a Gibson Les Paul. I would be perfectly fine if they were to change the brnad name and maybe the headstock. Like a Burny or Edwards.
@mosnaidei Epiphone doesn't need a license from Gibson. No permission is required when you're the same company. And the reason why the fakes say Gibson Les Paul is because they are COUNTERFEIT! That's the whole point of a counterfeit. Do counterfeit Nike clothes & shoes say something other than Nike?
@mosnaidei I own a Gibson custom shop 1960 VOS, and a Chinese made Gibson, and there is definately a difference in the quality....but not $4000 difference. I have always loved Gibson guitars, but the truth is they are just too overpriced.
@hooyah271 I have spoken these very same words. I have an authentic 1960 classic Gibson among 3 other real ones and I recently got a Chinese EDS-1275 fake when I became aware they made a good Gibson knock off. The biggest difference between them is the $3600 I saved by not buying the real one. Gibson is a far superior guitar in every way, no doubt. Whether or not it's thousands of dollars better is the real question. Especially when your speaking in terms of utility.
@hooyah271 It's the price a true guitarist pays for the highest quality and purest tone. Although there are some Epiphones that sound as good as SOME Gibsons. When comparing Chinese and American made Gibsons...people tend to just say "well American is better"... and usually they will be, but not all Gibson Les Pauls in America are the same quality of tone, you have to find the right one for you and save up for it if you want it! I will be playing a Chinese one until I have the money, LOL
Two questions - what's the point of buying a chinese fake, then paying extra dollars to put real Grovers and Gibson pickups in? Why not just pick up a used Gibson? Secondly, how come customs don't confiscate these guitars, seeing as they are technically illegal? Are you as the buyer liable for any kind of legal action? ok, that's three questions.
First I got it for a project so I could change every thing and set it up with out using a real one if they where illegal customs would take them this is a copy Gibson surely know and there not trying to stop them from coming into the country and as we have fair trade with these country's I have the right to purchase any thing I want this is a Chinese Gibson copy and as for the cost into it I could have never got a guitar of this type for $832.00 it plays and sounds great
@fssales1 I picked up an ESP Explorer from this site for $300. Mahogany body, maple neck.. Perfect guitar.. And the ESP's are made in Japan and since Gibson had a lawsuit against them in 1996 for the same body shape, it is nearly impossible to buy them in america for less than $2grand.. I dont have money to waste $2grand on a used guitar.. BTW your Les Paul sounds awesome man.. good job
I ordered a guitar from Dave on TT. He sent me a EMS tracking number last Saturday (Dec. 4) and its still not showing in the system. Anyone else having the same problem? He claims EMS is late because of Christmas. I still see he is getting plenty of feedback but I am concerned.
It took 2 weeks for my 1st guitar and 1 month for the 2nd as I added a ebony board to it but it can take up to 7 day just to show its been sent thats why they call it a slow boat from china and it is slow
@fssales1 thanks for the reply... logged into a different account here... good news. the tracking number did start to show this afternoon and says it just left the sorting facility in china. can't wait.. i ordered the green les paul with the dragon inlay on the neck and EMGs.
so what do you think? these are coming out of the back door of the epiphone plant over there?
@cheburastor i think you missed the point... I'm talking about the guitars are being sold out the back door by the epiphone plant in china... i finally received my guitar and its fantastic! Dave IS the man! There is no way I could have bot this guitar stateside for less than twice what I paid! A little tweaking on the tube amp EQ, new strings and it growls and sings like a champ. I would absolutely consider buying from Dave again.
UPDATE I'm quite happy with my purchase. I finally took it down to the shop that I have my guitar work done at. The tech was impressed with the quality and make. Only a few frets needed to be leveled. I had a floyd rose installed and a couple of the saddles were out of place. Also the ground wire running from the toggle switch had slipped loose and was causing a little hum. All fixed now. It ran me $130 for setup/fret dress/restring. I play on buying another in the future.
i'm strongly considering a goldtop. Once the guitar is in the U.S., who actually delivers it? U.S. postal service? (obviously, it can't be the chinese shipper that all these tradetang sellers use (EMS)). and how do they collect the $50 customs fee? at your front door?, did you have to go to their location to pick it up then pay the $50? Just Curious...
Yes it is the U.S. Post office the takes it after customs when you purchase your guitar have the seller mark it as a gift then there is on charge if they do not do this for you buy your guitar from the seller Dave he will give you a discount and mark it as a gift Tell him Steve D sent you but yes they would collect it at your door if its not marked as a gift hope I helped
Is there quality in its body work? I mean, I understand if i buy one i can just switch out the current hardware n pickups for gibson originals. So, is the body worth the cash? Pickups make the sound n all. So does it feel quality?
@darrenmos3 The fakes are hit & miss, but the better ones are coming out of the Epiphone factories in China. They are basically Epi's with Gibson style headstocks, but they're illegally made and then sold out the back door. My friend has 2 of them and they came loaded with Epi parts & features. His are both pretty well made. I've never heard of any fakes with no truss rod.
I think the same Epiphones with Gibson head stock they are getting better made I have no complainants of mine I just purchased my 2nd one still waiting for it having a ebony board put on it will let you all know how it turns out
hi, i'm about to buy an epiphone les paul. but are those things the same (almost) quality you can buy in a real store? moreover is there any warranty, because they have a serial on back right?
Customs charges like a tax on all items coming into the country they see what you paid for it they place a value on it and if there value is more then what you paid for it they charge you the different mine was $50.00 but if you buy from the seller Dave he will send it mark as a gift and customs should not charge for gifts
let me know how your purchase goes if you go to Dave tell him Steve D sent you then make an offer on the guitar you want
@fssales1 Thank you, and do you think if I change the pickups of one of these guitars to some alnico classic, and some tunners , will it be a great guitar?
I have a new video coming up on what I did to mine I changed every thing on it it sounds better hold tune much better I have burstbuckers in mine sound excellent I just purchased a new one that I am going to just change the pick ups and tuners so watch for my new video soon
@fssales1 I am going to buy a gibson j 100 acoustic. He said he would drop a fishman preamp in there for me... I will be on the prowl for a martin D-100 replica though. I kinda get the feeling that most of them on tradetang are scams since they all use the same picture and have the same description
The best way to do it is use Pay Pal or a method like that so if some thing goes wrong you have away to get your money back I bought mine no problems I just purchased my second one go to tradetang and find the seller Dave he will give you a good deal tell him Steve D sent you ask for a discount on your purchase
When you get it remind him I sent you and ask for a discount on the price and make sure he marks it as a gift or you will have to pay customs cost of about $50.00 to a $100.00 or more and let me know how it goes
I think you would like this type of amp it gives you both solid state and tube with built in Effect amp modeling this also comes in a 50 and 30 , 15 series amp at different price ranges hope i have been of help
you can find it at guitar center's web site look under Vox Vt 100
@fssales1 you sure have, thanks a lot, too bad i live in a 3rd world shit country called brazil and the taxes make everything SO expensive, like that vox vt100 amp costs you what? 500 bucks? it'd cost me over $1400 here, so yeah.. i think since im a beginner a 15 watt marshall should do it, right?
It has all gibson hard ware it plays and sound like a real one I will post a new video this week end with all the changes and new details abotu the guitar you may want to know
The switch for the pickups is good no issues volume pots are good wiring in mine is awesome no rats nest very well wired.

Just Curious...
twinsmm1 1 year ago
Yes it is the U.S. Post office the takes it after customs when you purchase your guitar have the seller mark it as a gift then there is on charge if they do not do this for you buy your guitar from the seller Dave he will give you a discount and mark it as a gift Tell him Steve D sent you but yes they would collect it at your door if its not marked as a gift hope I helped

@fssales1 yep, thanks!

Is there quality in its body work? I mean, I understand if i buy one i can just switch out the current hardware n pickups for gibson originals. So, is the body worth the cash? Pickups make the sound n all. So does it feel quality?

Go see my new video chinese les paul copy part 2
Mine is a very nice well built body
fssales1 1 year ago
What company did you get your guitar from? And, did it look like the one in the picture when you got it?
tothatextent 1 year ago
Tradetang and yes it is just like the pictue
fssales1 1 year ago
Does this particular copy have a truss rod in the neck? Most complaints I have read have been about the lack of a truss rod.
darrenmos3 1 year ago
mine has a truss rod I did not hear that one
fssales1 1 year ago
@darrenmos3 The fakes are hit & miss, but the better ones are coming out of the Epiphone factories in China. They are basically Epi's with Gibson style headstocks, but they're illegally made and then sold out the back door. My friend has 2 of them and they came loaded with Epi parts & features. His are both pretty well made. I've never heard of any fakes with no truss rod.
OddTimeMan 1 year ago
I think the same Epiphones with Gibson head stock they are getting better made I have no complainants of mine I just purchased my 2nd one still waiting for it having a ebony board put on it will let you all know how it turns out
fssales1 1 year ago
hi, i'm about to buy an epiphone les paul. but are those things the same (almost) quality you can buy in a real store? moreover is there any warranty, because they have a serial on back right?
musiKBeing 1 year ago

for the money these are very nice guitars

I wan't to buy a Les Paul Custom copy in white, like Randy Rhoad, how much are they on trade?
Macsk8ing 1 year ago
not sure what it cost if you go to tradetang com
Find the seller Dave tell him Steve D sent you he will give a discount
let me know how it goes
fssales1 1 year ago
@fssales1 Thanks.
Macsk8ing 1 year ago
@fssales1 What do you mean that you payed other 50 bucks on the customs?
Macsk8ing 1 year ago
Customs charges like a tax on all items coming into the country they see what you paid for it they place a value on it and if there value is more then what you paid for it they charge you the different mine was $50.00 but if you buy from the seller Dave he will send it mark as a gift and customs should not charge for gifts
let me know how your purchase goes if you go to Dave tell him Steve D sent you then make an offer on the guitar you want
Thanks for your interest
fssales1 1 year ago
@fssales1 Thank you, and do you think if I change the pickups of one of these guitars to some alnico classic, and some tunners , will it be a great guitar?

Do you know anything about his acoustic electrics? Is he a reliable seller? Will the guitar have the same brand name/logo on the head as the picture?
clayto1332 1 year ago
Find the seller named Dave he has 100% rating and he can under stand you what you want tell him Steve D sent you he can get you any guitar you want
fssales1 1 year ago
@fssales1 Yeah man I actually have already exchanged a couple messages with him already. I mentioned you as a referral
clayto1332 1 year ago
So did you buy one if I can help let me know thanks
fssales1 1 year ago
@fssales1 I am going to buy a gibson j 100 acoustic. He said he would drop a fishman preamp in there for me... I will be on the prowl for a martin D-100 replica though. I kinda get the feeling that most of them on tradetang are scams since they all use the same picture and have the same description
clayto1332 1 year ago
I think what they do is stick a bunch of them in a room with computers and try to sell to Americans when they dont speak English or very little
you have to be careful who you buy from as it can be hit and miss buying from china
I am going to purchase one more soon I will get it from dave he seems to under stand what I am saying
I hope all goes well for you let me know once you get it and how the transaction went
fssales1 1 year ago
@fssales1 how can we trust them? i wanna buy a gibson les paul cause it costs like 4x more than the original price in brazil =x
MysterioFan02 1 year ago
The best way to do it is use Pay Pal or a method like that so if some thing goes wrong you have away to get your money back I bought mine no problems I just purchased my second one go to tradetang and find the seller Dave he will give you a good deal tell him Steve D sent you ask for a discount on your purchase
fssales1 1 year ago
@fssales1 yeah i found him and told him you sent me and i'll buy a slash appetite next month :P
MysterioFan02 1 year ago
When you get it remind him I sent you and ask for a discount on the price and make sure he marks it as a gift or you will have to pay customs cost of about $50.00 to a $100.00 or more and let me know how it goes
fssales1 1 year ago
@fssales1 if he doesnt mark as gift i'll have to pay 60% of the guitar's price lol, but i'll sure as hell remind him of that :P
MysterioFan02 1 year ago
Thanks for you intrest watch for my new videos on what I did to my Custom
fssales1 1 year ago
@fssales1 hey dude, i was wondering, which amp would be good on an epiphone les paul custom ? the original guitar, not counterfeit
MysterioFan02 1 year ago
For what type of music I am a big fan of tube amps I have a Peavey Delta Blues 50
and a Vox Vt 100 I play Rock Blues Country Jazz my Vox works well for all type
fssales1 1 year ago
@fssales1 for rock/ hard rock
MysterioFan02 1 year ago
I think you would like this type of amp it gives you both solid state and tube with built in Effect amp modeling this also comes in a 50 and 30 , 15 series amp at different price ranges hope i have been of help
you can find it at guitar center's web site look under Vox Vt 100
fssales1 1 year ago
@fssales1 you sure have, thanks a lot, too bad i live in a 3rd world shit country called brazil and the taxes make everything SO expensive, like that vox vt100 amp costs you what? 500 bucks? it'd cost me over $1400 here, so yeah.. i think since im a beginner a 15 watt marshall should do it, right?
