Just put Ubuntu on a newly built machine, like it so far, however, when you say there are plenty of alternatives to iTunes on Linux, do those alternatives support the iPod hardware? Can yo name some of the alternatives?
All their Apple applications are based only on their own builds, meaning you cant use 3rd party software, etc to sync with your iPod, unless its jailbroken i believe.
@elnegrobembon I think if iTunes came to Linux, there would be an exodus from windows and Mac. I'm an ex windows and Linux user because I have an iPad and iPhone that I can manage on Linux. And I haven't used windows since Vista. Now I'm running a hackintosh still hoping that iTunes come to Linux or at least ubuntu.
ehhh... if it was a year ago when i was first starting on linux, i would've been all for bringing itunes to linux... probably because that's what i was used to and comfortable with.
now, not so much... there's plenty of open alternatives to itunes on linux and frankly, it's not needed. not saying itunes isn't good and wouldn't be used on linux, but there's just too many options on linux to make itunes a big demand, imo..
