  • After re-watching it, I think perhaps we're on the same page. I think your point was that, to the women who need support, The Church may not seem to be a place they can turn. I'd just distinguish that The Church itself was, is and will be that sanctuary for them--and that, as Christians, we need to do better to make the radiance of The Church apparent to society by striving to be more Christ-like, particularly in our response to abortion. I'd have titled it "The Christian Response to Abortion".

  • @korypaulsen Thank you. I like that title and I appreciate both of your comments.

    Peace,

    Adam

  • Good video. Certainly, people need to know we welcome sinners (after all, what are we!?) and that women pressured into these terrifying situations need our love and support. But, in response to your closing, The Church ALREADY IS The Church! Eph 5:25-27 elevates The Church to the status of Christ's Bride and I don't think I'd want to answer to Christ after saying his wife, whom he died for, is a satanic, judgmental, bomb-flinging loon. When I "throw stones", I have abandoned The Church.

  • Any woman considering abortion can go to any Catholic Church and they will help the woman by referring her to organizations and agencies dedicated for helping women in such situations. If she is a member of that parish, there will of course be more of a direct assistance. But if she is not, she will still be aided nevertheless. I know this from first hand experience 25 yrs ago.

  • @Minxcomix Thank you for this. It's good to know.

  • "doesn't make right or wrong..." Is it not clear what "thou shall not kill" means?

So you think that it is OK for somebody to kill after they committed adultery because they cannot receive support from some organisation called church. Jesus never said that you will get to heaven by having somebody carry your cross, whatever it may be. We need to repent and carry our own crosses, otherwise we are not worthy.

  • @ferratilis Simon of Cyrene. Even Jesus needed and accepted help bearing his cross. Matt 27:32.

    Was Jesus worthy?

  • @raventelevision May all the Praise, Honor, an Glory be to Him that won, because He was found worthy and sinless, and nobody helped Him carry His "cross".

And no, I'm not talking about some pieces of lumber here, and that is not the "cross" that Jesus is asking us to carry, but rather living a holy and sinless life of a born again man, through the Holy Spirit , according to God's will. May the Lord Jesus Bless you.

  • @ferratilis Thanks! May the Lord Jesus Bless you, too.

    Peace,

    Adam

  • Normally I am opposed to abortion but I truly wish that your mother had aborted you before it was too late. Maybe it's not too late??? Please ask her to show the world some mercy by aborting you now. Thanks for your consideration...

  • @MissLalaloo Hi. This is a difficult and emotional topic. Do you think it is possible to have discussions about this important issue without insulting one another? Is it possible to transcend that negative discourse? I'd like to know your thoughts on that.

    I hope you are well,

    Adam

  • @raventelevision I'm sorry. I didn't mean any of that as an insult to you. It's just my opinion that the world would be a better place without you. It's nothing personal...

  • @MissLalaloo Thanks! I appreciate your opinion and won't take what you say personally. You certainly don't owe me an answer, but I would like to know your opinion on my question.

  • @raventelevision To tell you the truth, I have no problem with you whatsoever. You actually seem like a caring and intelligent person. I've just been childishly "trolling" in order to relieve some stress...

  • @MissLalaloo Oh, well then, troll away. I hope things calm down for you soon.

    Peace,

    Adam

  • you speak the truth you disagree but understand their pain i aplaud your intelligence

  • Yes. The Christian church should protect the mother and the baby. And the ones I know do. However, there is not a neon sign saying specifically "Don't abort...come in here!". which there maybe should be. Now as far as a church that will "excommunicate" people for not worshiping a woman and putting her statue up in their yard, I have no clue.

  • To retain credibility the church must surely stand unwaveringly firm on Christian values and teachings and express both disapproval and compassion for those that stray..

Nowadays there are churches like the UCC who are actively "pro abortion and LGBGT rights"..surely that is the danger of becoming overly tolerant and flies in the face of everything that Christianity stands for?

  • I agree with much of what you say.

My channel is dedicated to providing the contact info of agencies that provide many various forms of support to anyone experiencing difficulty with an unplanned pregnancy/birth incl pressure to abort.. I would however have a problem with someone who goes ahead and aborts even after being offered all the help they may be in need of.

It is quite appropriate to help someone in their time of need but the goal must always be independence, not a long term dependancy.

  • @UnplannedPregnancy That makes very good sense to me. Thank you for your work.

  • I wouldn't know where to begin. I admire your courage for tackling a topic of this note. I often wonder how humanity will conquer this division. I think your video is a start. Nice work, you seem intelligent and thoughtful, I look forward to more of your videos.

  • I had never heard of the Raven foundation until I watched this video and i was incredibly surprised by the well reasoned and thoughtful approach that went into the videos presentation on a very difficult subject. I look forward to watching more from this group.

  • that choked me up, but warmed me too

  • I don't want to oversimplify things, but in a YouTube comment it may be unavoidable. The church often serves not as Christ, but as a bastion for "right values/mores." Moralism in this particular needs not be in the church.

Excellent post, sir. This is exactly what we are doing. Frightening people into the Kingdom is shortsighted and, simply, violent.

  • Yup. This topic is probably too complex for a video post, but there it is. I can't remember where I heard it, but I overheard someone recently suggest that the church is a sign that points beyond itself. Maybe it even points away from itself. As a community made of humans, maybe there is some truth in that.

  • Very nice vid. I agree.
