  • Get some videos out mate - these are fantastic. Ive just started smokin a pipe - tomorrow im upgrading to a peterson as i only bought a cheap one to see if i liked it. Keep well.

  • I have no idea what put the idea in my head on day a couple months ago but I just decided I wanted to get into cigars and while I don't care much for cigars yet, I stumbled onto pipes. My grandparents chewed tobacco and smoked pipes and I always loved the smell of any tobacco. I don't like cigaretts at all but I do like the smell of them when they are not lit. Fast forward and now I have two pipes and six different tobaccos to choose from in front of me, and this is just the beginning.

  • Funny enough, the guy who turned me on to pipe smoking didn't stick with it. Sad he didn't get through the "aromatic" stage and discover the wide world of great pipe tobaccos out there. There is life after "cherry cream"

  • I started smoking pipes on my own mostly, as an association to the older times because I've found I do not fit in with today's society as they are moral-less in my eyes. I also agree with you that conversational importance has died in this country and feel overly lucky to have a group of friends in which it hasn't. I love smoking pipes, and will for the rest of my life. I enjoyed your video!

  • Strangely enough, I started by smoking pot out of glass pipes. As I got older, I felt kind of silly breaking out my glass pipe, so I got a 'drug store' briar pipe. I enjoyed the smoking experience so much more, that I realized I liked smoking more than getting stoned, so I started researching pipes and tobacco online. Cigarettes actually put me off of tobacco, but smoking from a pipe is a world away from smoking a Camel. My next goal is to get an American, hand-made briar pipe.

  • When I was a kid I remember my grandfather smoking a pipe, but it wasn't so much the pipe smoke or act of smoking, but the smell of the tobacco in his black zipper pouch. I don't know what kind of blend he smoked, but I imagine since we're talking about 1960 something it was probably something like SWR or PA. But I really have to thank my cousin's husband who gave me his pipe collection when he quit smoking. The Savinelli deluxe 316 KS he gave me has been my favorite pipe for the last 32 years.

  • i had never cared about pipes or cigars. i started reading sherlock holmes and loved the time period and the character himself and i now enjoy pipes and cigars!

  • The first person I observed smoking a pipe was my grandmother's elderly Italian gardener. He had a big white mustache and smoked a long curved pipe, sitting quietly, staring into the distance. Many years later I saw a pipe just like his at the window of a pipe shop and simply had to have it.

  • Well, first of all I want to thank you for all your time you have taken to make your videos! what got me in to pipe smoking..? I used to smoke cigarettes like 3 years ago and I stop because my wife made me because we had a little girl. so 3 months ago in my search for a good cigar I stared looking in you tube I ended up looking into pipe smoking videos! such as yours and other people in the comment. I watch how you guys enjoy your tobaccos while making reviews or discussing interesting topics.

  • Actually pipemannow you got me interested into pipe smoking. Im doing my research but there are so many pipes! what should I start with?

  • For me, it was Jordan's Wheel of Time series. It was the first time I'd ever considered smoking as a hobby, rather than a habit. Also, my friend's dad smoked a pipe for years, and I remember smelling pipesmoke whenever I would visit her between semesters. I was amazed that not all tobacco smelled like cigarettes.

  • Thats a great beer and a beautiful looking pipe I love your videos :)

  • I might make a video response for this one because i ran outof room in an attempt to explain how i started ..... but nice vid, and nice bowl, I'm thinking about buying some new pipes and that would be good for my new pipe rack !! cheers !!!!!

  • Let's see: my dad smoking a pipe because it was cheaper than cigs when I was a kid, images of Bing Crosby and other jazz hipsters smoking a pipe, Ward Cleaver from Leave it to Beaver, the image in general of pipe smokers as mature, intellectual sorts, the aroma, the taste, the different feeling than smoking cigs, all that. Cigars are great, but there's nothing like a nice, relaxing pipe experience. Mmmm, velvety smooth....

  • I agree that you don't have to like Country to like Patsy. Been enjoying your vids, keep up the good work.

  • Hey Man, been absent for a while.

My father is the reason I got into pipe smoking. He Loved it. Gave up smoking when my brother developed Ashma (sp?) and always planned to start again. He died at 59 before my brother moved out. So after dad died, I decided that I would start smoking them in honor of him. I have discovered that I truly love them, and find it comforting and it makes me feel closer to my father.

  • The Vicar at my church got me into pipe smoking. Ha it was a little controversy when I told people that the vicar at my church got me into it. And because of him, I think I will follow his legacy, I will one day be a Pipe Smoking Vicar..Pastor eventually!

  • Thats a nice pipe but I was wondering why is the stem not flush with the shank? I have to have a gap like that on a Peterson's pipe because if I don't the filter covers most of the draught hole causing too much air resistance but I am under the impression (correct me if I'm wrong) that you don't use filters.

  • my dad actually got me a pipe on my 18th birthday and he taught me how to smoke it. Its actually great because every week we always make time to smoke a pipe together and just relax and have a great conversation.

  • I started smoking a pipe when I first got married about 34 years ago and my wife does like my pipe smell I do like aromatics. I'am a fan of Patsy Cline also very good music. That is why I got in to it also my brother smoked a pipe. My father smoked a pipe also when the same time I did.

  • hi it was my late grandad who got me into pipes. i lived with him wile at college and he bought me a falcon pipe after i tried and enjoyed his! his pipe was very old, i think hed smoked for about 20 years,it was beat up and cracked! i still love the folcan he gave me 18 years ago and i only have two pipes but use the falcon most. my other is an itayian bryar with vulconite stem.thanks for the vid and bringing back the memories of my dear drandfather.......nick..

  • when i was a kid my grandfather was a pipe smoker. He had given me my very own pipe and when i was over there i would pretend i was smoking my pipe just like him. I am 38 years old now and have never smoked anything ever. This year my uncle passed away and i was given the very pipe my grandpa gave me as a kid. So i went to a pipe store and got me a pipe and baccy. I very seldom smoke but i enjoy it when i do.

  • Hmm.. Karl May Books ;-)) Kara Ben Nemsi !

    Cheers,

    HaJo

  • Ah Chris, talk about pipe lust. That thing is a beauty! Great video, I got into pipe smoking because of how unique and cool it was. Always feel relaxed when I smoke a pipe, and like you said sparks great conversation. Hope all is well.

  • my father and grandfather smoked a pipe..cheers

  • Great vid my friend... You were right. I love that Peterson haha.

My buddy Got me into it. He is the one in our group known for doing the most random things. When he was in Iraq he would always have a cigarette break with his buddies and one day he saw one of them smoking a pipe. When he got back he bought a pipe and he showed it to me.... I was hooked. I had always thought it would be really cool to try but never really gave it much thought until he showed me his Peterson.

  • Great music! Great Pipe and great drink! My girlfriend at the time quit cigarettes at my wishes and suggested cigars to me. I began smoking cigars with her, and I just gradually became more interested in pipes and they became my number one tobacco apparatus. Good to see you!

  • I've always smoked a lot of cigs and one day a doctor told me that the amount i smoked was well past addiction and that I do it out of nerves. I thought to myself what would be good for a guy that loves smoking and tends to fidget. I came up with the pipe. I always liked the look and thought I could chew on it from time to time when I couldn't smoke and I do. I still smoke cigs, but I'd always rather be smoking my pipes. I also smoke much less of the cancer sticks nor do I inhale my pipes.

  • I just got interested in it one day, I dont know from what, but im sure glad that I did, coming up on a year now and its been a blast, great video and tunes, take care!

  • That's easy. Lord of the Rings. The Book and the Movies.

  • Good video! You hit on some good reasons to smoke the pipe! I started mainly because my Brother smoked a pipe on and off throughout my childhood. I always loved the smell. My first pipe was given to me by a Punk rocker called Dave. It was a Falcon straight stem with a rustic bowl. Then I got a Carey, with a green bowl. Now I have about 20 odd pipes. Love it!

  • I wanted to try tobacco at 18 but I did not want to get addicted and my mom recomended a pipe and/or a cigar

    Evan

  • I knew a few people grown up who smoked pipes and always loved the smell. I started out with Cigars and it just didn't click with me. I then tried a pipe about 2 years ago and haven't looked back.

    Good to see you again!

    Matthew

  • I remember a neighbor of mine he always had a pipe on him and we would talk and play dice cards or even chess. the smell of the smoke was almost hypnotic or entrancing as some would say. However sadly I got in to cigarettes and i smoked cigs for 3 years before i pick up a pipe and i struggled with that for another year or 2 . I haven't bought a pack or even smoked a cig for 8 months so i smoke pipe and that's mostly thinks to him he taught me how to regard pipe smoking in a different light...

  • My father smoked a pipe off and on. But it was really the smell that got me interested. After I bought some cherry drugstore blends he took me to a tobacconist and got me a can of Balkan Sobranie. This was like 1989. After college I gave it up but only took it back up again about 2 years ago. Cheers.

  • I've always loved the smell and elegance people seemed to carry with them as they puffed on a pipe. I had a friend who got me into cigars a couple years ago, and when visiting my local tobacconist the pipes on the wall always drew me toward them. I just made the plunge a few months ago and have never looked back.

  • Hi Chris , great video.I started smocking a pipe because of my grandfather and Lord Of The Rings , I was always interested in pipes and when I was 12 years old I smoked a pipe for the first time and when I was 13 again and at the age of 14 I smocked with my grandfather every 3 months . But now I do a lot of sport so I dont smoke more than 1s every 3 months , but I still Love it .

  • Great video. All the decent people in my childhood smoked pipes and that's why I always wanted to smoke pipe.
