My gosh...this movie. I found it the saddenst movie I ever saw. At one point I had a great friend...but she introduced me to crack cocaine.I know we really loved each other and I like what Heath says in the move about " i wanst trying to make her life worse..I was trying to make my life better" Everyone thinks my friend was SO BAD for geting me into it but I believe that's just what her life was and wanted a friend. Sadly I had to walk away from her to stay clean. It's so sad.
Wow...just from this scene alone, I can tell this is a fantastic movie. I am definitely gonna check it out (if I ever find the time lol). It's too bad we lost Heath Ledger so young. Like James Dean, I really would've liked to see what else he would have accomplished if he were still alive. Both were truly phenomenal actors for their times.
This is the most beautiful love story I have ever seen. I am in love like that and I can relate to all the pain and all the love and all inbetween. My man is in jail in another state for something relative to this movie and it make me miss him.Heath Ledger character reminds me of him and I cried through the whole movie.
This scene is almost physically painful to watch, Heath Ledger could be so powerful in these type of quiet scenes with very little dialogue. Fantastic acting.
Actually as a former heroin addict what was meant by what he said was even through the burning pain of him having to turn her away, he did it b/c it would be 100% fact them together would equal her using heroin along w/him again....he loved her enough, even w/a little millimeter of selflessness of his love for her to push her away/and she had enough sobriety to grasp on...that's all one needs/I'm living proof. :)
@INTHELIGHT77 I may not know you, but seeing this movie ( and knowing what drugs have been doing to some friends of mine) makes me glad to know that you are no longer addicted to heroin; I'm happy for you. God bless :)
the movie is amazing.and heath ledger soooo good as always.but can anybody tell me what happend in the end?? because my subtitles made a weird tralslasion and i don't think i understood exactly what happend.
@mairhmairoula123 "if youre given a reprieve (temporary relief, as from danger or pain) its good to remember just how thin it is" ... meaning now that she is clean, she should remember how useless and how terrible being a junkie was.. pretty much him setting her free.
they ended up not getting back together...they couldn't be together without being on the drugs :( i love this movie..so sad and depressing though..rip heath ledger
@lulurules so Heath or 'Dan' must not hav gotten clean ay?.. prolly a stupid question but i only caught the last half of this movie last night on sbs n from wen she says shes preggaz i was glued..such a hectic story..
@1armedghostsamurai Yeah. He started from scratch basically, working at a crappy diner, making an actual living, starting fresh living in the country.
@1armedghostsamurai No lol.. thats the point of the whole scene, Dan didn't get clean, Candy went off to rehab and did get clean.. now shes come back and he says 'if your ever given a reprieve just remember how thin it is' meaning.. that shes been given a second chance, and she should remember how little the drugs are worth, how she should make the most out of being clean and have nothing to do with him.

Two incredible actors. It's a shame how soon we lost Heath. At least he's at peace now.

Plus I really want her shirt. I wonder where you can get one similar

@Lands00 Same! I love her shirt. You should look on Asos they have quite a few that are similar.

A reprieve is like a short relief from discomfort or harm
