You can't copyright gravity, it is an intangible force. You can copyright an invention though and you can also patent it. So that "oh so clever" quote is a bunch of BS. Apple is the innovator and MS is the copier. Look at the Zune. MS has never invented anything important. They bought DOS and built their empire on it. Gate's computer language for the Altaire was his last good work.
@mrbit10 You said yourself, he said that when he was kicked out and working at Next. He was bitter and giving a shot to Apple after they kicked him out. He also said Microsoft has no culture. There's a video of that. He was being a prick when he said that. Do you think he was happy when he found out about Windows. I doubt at that point he would have said you cannot copyright gravity. I said BS quote because none of this matters. Apple is obviously better, but that doesn't matter.
@Haplotype0 MS has never invented anything important, I don't know about that. Smartphone OS, Office etc, but the blind fanboyism is strong with you......................Oh and I just patented gravity you owe me money.
@pagola What does it matter? Is there even another mp3 player? They're not even referred to as that anymore by most people. It's an iPod. Apple won that war. The question is not even relevant. The revolution was not just the player but also the iTunes environment. The market share they've carved out within both the music player business and in the sale of music itself is nothing short of miraculous. Whatever iPods/iTunes do or don't do is irrelevant.
@Haplotype0 let's be honest though, itunes is terrible... i mean, really, it has a terrible, horrible interface, always categorising my imported tracks.... KEEP IT HOW I WANT IT! i left the ipod and itunes web years ago, now have a zen (offers better audio quality btw) and mediamonkey... try opening your mind a little

The systems are too different to make such a claim. Moreover, OpenCL is OpenCL it is an open standard riding on technology very similar to CUDA, OpenGL is a visual API licensed by Kronos. take care.
I found it odd that one one hand you cheered Apple + RISC, yet when it came to Apple + Intel, you wanted more "choices". In general I'm having a lot of trouble understanding your BIAS toward Apple, individual preference of course, that's your choice, but WHY? I've been HEAVILY into computing since the Commodore 64 days, on BOTH platforms, Apple in my eyes is SO limited, and SO not made for power computing. Just wonderun...
Actually what I prefer is what NextStep/OpenStep supported, x86, Power, SPARC and so on. I love RISC over x86. Apple has always been closed but even with AS400s back in the day was also closed. I remember using websphere and other closed environments. Apple with RISC had always more power in hardware but I admit after OS7 things changed a bit and with quality. I only enjoyed NT4 even though I support all subsequent MS OSs as most of my clients are on WIndows. I will have a vid on why Mac.
I actually just about completely stopped supporting Apple in 95 and was MCSE in 96. I loved where NT was going until win2k a big disappointment. I then was into IBM and SGI as well. Windows had several issues and disasters for many of the companies & clients MS has come along way, I admit but when OSX(server) finally got off the ground, IT support was as easy as the days of NT 4
I did not catch this one Mrbit, thanks for uploading. Great information as always in your vids. Things make a lot more sense now, I'm gonna recommend if anybody is a wild fanboy to watch this video.
SONY have had stores for years, longer than Apple have. At least here in the UK, I don't know about the States. They were never all that interesting. It just looked like any other high street electronics store but with JUST SONY stuff. The Apple Store kind of changed how retail was done. Before them everything was just crammed on the shelves and every inch was used. Now you see places opening up more to mimick the Apple look. What do they say about immitation and flatery eh?
apple has had stores ever sense they first opened lol. they had small computer stores to start and then soon after they got their own stores. but sense silicon valley happened in the us, thats expected
Apple didn't actually have it's own stores as we know them now until 2001.
What did exist was Apple authorised resellers, which where usually in obscure parts of town. Sometimes they where not very welcoming either, certainly the one in my town wasn't. It seemed they wanted to see the colour of your credit card before they would deal with you.
It was only in 2001 that Apple had the idea for it's own shiny welcoming stores with Genius Bar etc. and put them in popular places like shopping malls.
Ever hear of the TRS-80? That was Tandy Corporation's first computer. It was sold in radioshack. Then there were the later tandy computers. They were sold in Radioshack as well. The personal computer kits.
RadioShack may have had many partners but it also had thousands of its own stores, both in the US and around the world. All selling RadioShack computers in the late 70s. I'm 46 I remember this well.
Around 1980 RadioShack/Tandy did setup it's own special TRS80 sales and service centres in most larger cities. Just selling and offering advice and service on the range of TRS80 computers plus peripherals and software. We had one in here in the centre of Bristol.
OK they weren't all shiny with stainless-steel, glass and brightly coloured T-shirts like the Apple stores. But they where professional, tidy and business like. Offering pretty much the same OEM services as Apple or Gateway.
Nah the first OEM store was most definitely NOT Gateway.
@sc0pl355 is correct RadioShack or Tandy as it's called in the UK, was selling it's own TRS80 computers in it's own stores in the late 70s. Long before the PC was even invented. Obviously Gateway didn't even exist at this time.
So indeed RadioShack was the first true OEM store in 1977 when the TRS80 was introduced.
the first mac core duos were 32 bit, core 2 duo went 64bit truly via more registers and etc. With the P4 the Intel EM64T is address extension changing from 32 to 35 bit going up to 64/65 gig mark allow apps to go higher than 4 gigs
@MrBit I thought you were going for you own record? a few more minutes...lol
The point on Intel ... I don't think most are saying that Apple copied MS by using Intel, I think they are asking why people like emeek think that Mac's are so much different then "PC's",cause they share many of the same components. And then there are people like macwrd who state that Apple designed all the HW in the Mac lines ... which is far from the truth ... like the example of Apple using Intel.
I agree Apple should allow AMD processors on Mac's. Apple allows Nvidia and ATI/AMD to coexist. What if AMD comes out with a better CPU with more performance than Intel? I remember not long ago AMD did have a faster CPU than intel, back when Intel Pentium 4 existed.

I can understand your point, most of my vids are in depth tech and I try to bring a non-bias tone to topics. People choose their passions while others may not agree. People allow clothes, cars, sports teams, game consoles, movies and etc to define them. Computers are just another item to balk about in the many passions we all have no matter how large or small they may be to others.
I have to say, I really like your non-bias approach. While I know that I do prefer Microsoft technology, I try to be as un-biased as you. Thanks for the video.

Xerox was saying that Apple had no right to sue over the GUI concept because they did not pioneer it. They were saying that, by acting the way they did, Apple was misrepresenting themselves as the inventors of the GUI concept.
Why are his videos so good? I love to watch his videos because not only is he really in depth with his "bit", he's very credible and knowledgeable about the topics he discuss. 5/5 like all of your videos.

Why are his videos so good? I love to watch his videos because not only is he really in depth with his "bit", he's very credible and knowledgeable about the topics he discuss. 5/5 like all of your videos.
