oh jesus for the respect of the glorious alreadydead "Bassinger" (-: ... please no dirty words! ... or maybe that ...he really likes dirty words from upthere !? ...
The ultimate long awaited question is ...
"Phil Lynott is in Valhalla or not ?"
I'm sure that scientists will stump on this one...
the slow version was the original and then according to brian robertson, him and brian downey came up with the faster tempo one cause they didnt like the slow one,but kept the lyrics
ma burd said this is shit and shees away to bed ! but fuck her im listening on she can fuck her self im going to listen on ah haaaaaaa! tommy partridge !!!!!!!!!
Used to cover this tune in a band and my bud could rip the studio version solo. I was disappointed with the slow version after playing it for several years. Robertson/Gorham has always been one of my favorite rock duos as they were fluid and left the SOLO mindset behind. For years I always though Gorham was the soloist on most of their stuff but he is apparently a songwriter/arranger.
Mates, it was originally written as a slow song. And yes, Gary Moore had part of it. He did not "steal" the song.
Thin Lizzy released the faster version as the album version. And they also played both the slow and faster version live. (although slow version was rare) I have live albums with Lizzy playing the slow version and Lynott introduce it as "how it was originally written"
it was'nt gary moores song...that bastard had the nerve to turn a thin lizzy song that he was'nt involved with it into his own solo version...forget moore...it was always meant to be brian robertson and scott gorham playing this song...
The director of this clip ought to be shot! How could he complete miss Robbo laying down the lead?? I mean, it is lip-synched... except for the vocals (I believe)... but to have the camera looking at a bunch of people just bouncing up and down with a bigscreen waaay in the background. That's just wrong...
I wonder how many clips exist of Brian Robertsom playing that Travis Bean? For the most part he was playing a 'Paul, and on a few occasions a Strat. A Travis Bean would have been a VERY pricey axe. Wonder if Robbo had an endorsement deal or something.
On what are you basing your high opinion on the Bean guitar?
They had aluminum necks that changed with temperature and made tuning a pain in the ass. I rate them at "Piece of shit" and prefer a Les Paul. I don't see a lot of them around these days.
Actually, I think the TB was overrated for pretty much the reasons that you mention. I was simply making reference to the oddity of seeing Robbo playing a 'Bean, and the fact that they were quite expensive. I also prefer a Les Paul (or a Strat for some applications), and can't stand a neck made of anything but wood.
Beans are highly rated because they are individually handmade bespoke instruments. George Beauchamp discovered in 1931 that the acoustic resonant properties of ally make it a far better material for an electric guitar neck & body than any timber you could name.
Les Pauls are great instruments and deserve their reputation, but when all's said and done they are mass produced. To rate Beans as "pieces of shit" is just plain ignorance on your part I'm afraid.
It's true you'd struggle to gig with a Bean because of susceptibility to temperature although it's been done fine plenty of times in the past but that does not make them "pieces of shit". In a controlled environment like a studio they are magnificent instruments with a purity & clarity of sound you just won't find in another guitar And then there's the sustain.
You stick to your machine made mass produced cookie-cutter guitars though. Leave the good ones to those of us who can appreciate them.
Hey, it's my ex's theme song

Mate that's a ridiculous thing to say.

Thanks, you can have 'em all.
I'll keep my mass produced Les Paul, Strat, and PRS for some time.

Thank heavens for that. The world needs unsophisticated ignorant assholes like you to deflect unwanted attention from the rest of us.
