Liza sang this song first! it was from her movie New York, New York. Sinatra asked her permission to sing it and she said yes. But this song was written for her by Kander and Ebb.

@nyalfonzo Sorry Sinatra who was the greatest pop singer of the 2nd half of the 20th century did not sing it 1st...I really should know, I remember Fanny Brice, Billie Holiday and Doris Day of the 20's 30's and 40's...

Actually Liza sang it first haha, and Frankie's version happened to be more popular...but the song was written for her, and even Frank Sinatra made that very clear often in his performances!
