Hossa was a good player. He helped three teams in three years reach the Cup Finals, and let's not forget he was the only player in Thrashers history to score 100 points in a season, not to mention he captained them to their only playoff appearance ever. I'm a Pens fan, and it was nice to gawk at this in '09 when they beat him, but he should be remembered as one of the NHL's best journeymen of the modern era.
Pittsburgh offered hosa an extension. In order to do that they let Ryan Malone go to clear up enough space and hosa waited til the last minute to pick Detroit. Total prick.
I was happy for Hossa when he won it with Chicago. Year before, I was bitter as all hell he left the Pens for Detroit but we won it over him so bygones. Grats Hoss
how does that make a guy selfish? its not like he left the team that brought him up to do this. he left a team that he played ONE SEASON for to go to chicago. and before that, he didnt even play a full year with pittsburgh! why would he stay? he doesnt need to be "loyal" to a team that just got him on a one year deal
danblaze.I have been watching hockey simce I was 7.My brother [played and we went everywhere that had a rink.Vancouver toEdina to Toronto to Boston.Everyrink around Chicago.I always knew Hossa was good but until you see him play game after game you can not appreciate how wonderful he is.Strong on his skates.Great defensive 2 way player.Oh and that wicked wrister. It is a joy to be able to watch such a total class act off the ice also.
@dbn52 Thank you. I was beginning to think that no one on youtube had any fucking sense about them. Just a bunch of dimwits who don't even watch hockey. Don't know shit about the sport at all talking out shit out their wide open pieholes.
This really should be a commercial. And anyone who hates on Marian Hossa has no reason to. You play to win, no matter what sport. Many people, even those who don't like hockey, admit that the Stanley Cup is the hardest to win. He wanted one and did what he had to do to get it.
Hossa's thoughts after Penguins win, "Well, let's see, I've already been on the Penguins, and I'm not staying with the Red Wings, and I'm definitely NOT going to be a Hurricane, so how about the Blackhawks?"
Rick Nash has to be one of the most patient players in the league, make a video about him. Not about Hossa who definetly isnt patient playing on 3 great teams in 3 years...
You shouldn't have started the video off that way...it makes it very anticlimactic. Start with him losing twice and then end with him winning the cup, the way it really happened.
Marian really disappointed me. I was a big fan when he was a Portland Winterhawk and so proud of him going on to the NHL. When he joined Pittsburgh, I was thrilled. Then he jumped ship for his own selfish want of a cup, abandoning the Pens... who won it without him. I laughed my ass off. Karma baby!
People hate on Hossa for no reason. THe poor guy was over thirty and hadn't touched the cup, would you go to another team to try your luck there? ABSOLUTELY. To donnie1979hot you sir obviously are a pens or a detroit fan. You got your cup, he gets his.
so if a player goes to a team that offers the most cash, hes hated. and he if plays for medium money on the best team so he can win he's hated. glad im not a pro athlete the way you idiots are bashing him for chasing his dream. I guess you all would play for the worst team in the league n accept minimum salary right?
How is it patience when he changes teams each year for three straight years until he wins? If he stayed with one team for a while and then won, I'd understand the word. In this case, it makes no sense.
@MBoggles I mean, if you really want to get technical haha. Patience is defined as "The capacity to accept or tolerate delay, trouble, or suffering without getting angry or upset." I think losing the Stanley Cup in 2008, and then losing it again in 2009 to the very same team you originally played for the year before, and then finally winning it in 2010 satisfies this. Considering he played in three consecutive Stanley Cup Finals' with three different teams, I believe he was pretty patient.
@sparty801 It's the exact opposite of being patient. Being patient would be staying with the same team and trying to win. Being impatient is going to a new team every single year until you win. He is very talented, and deserved to win, but he is in no way patient.
@sparty801 Hossa? patient? are you kidding me? Do you have any idea what qualifies as "a long time" in the NHL? Playing in three consecutive stanley cup finals with three different teams doesn't make you patient. Hell if anything it makes you impatient! the only person who can ever be considered patient is Ray Bourque! He did 1,612 regular season and 214 playoff games before he got his cup.
@Roneified Bourque definitely waited for his time, but he also abandoned his team he had been with for 20 years, not even concerned with where he went. Technically that could be called impatient too, but I'm not knocking him at all because obviously Bourque was a great player who played a long time and deserved to win the cup. And even though Hossa was given a longterm contract from the pens, he got a better offer for one year by the Wings, so it's fair to say to he was following his dreams, too
@sparty801 Bourque played his whole career in Boston and never got a cup. He requested a trade to chase the cup toward the end of his career depite his willingness to re-sign with Boston without any lengthy or complicated negotiations. That's not impatient, that's loyalty. He earned his right to chase the cup from Boston and if he did abandon the city then why does Boston not hate him?
@Roneified Loyalty would be sticking by your team and teammates, and Hossa didn't request to leave Pittsburgh, Detroit made a better offer and he had more of a chance to win the cup. And if Detroit hadn't not resigned him, he probably would've stayed considering he signed with Chicago for 12 years. But I agree, Bourque was by far more patient than Hossa and deserved a cup.
@sparty801 Hossa is a good player no doubt But to describe him as patient is ridiculous. What your describing about Hossa is not patience, its perserverence and steadfastness even in the face of obstacles, difficulties and discouragement. And that I will give him.
Why does everyone act so butthurt over Hossa? It's not like he was a damn hometown player. He left to seek better, because he was on teams where he didn't fit in. He found the team he needed in Chicago. Don't be a twat.
@TiredVigilante I have never been butthurt over anyone, nor have I ever used that term. I didn't even say what he did was wrong. All I said was, that it wasn't patient. I applaud him for going to other teams to try and win a Cup, but that doesn't change the fact he wasn't patient. He was the exact opposite of it. He's a great player and played on three great teams. You are the one being the twat, by not comprehending this.
I comprehend it just fine. You're just wrong. He didn't give up or decide he didn't belong in hockey. He persevered and found a team where he could fit in and be instrumental. Pittsburgh didn't need another Crosby or Malkin, and he damn sure wasn't reaching his potential on Detroit's third line. So he moved on. I'm a diehard Wings fan and it's not like I bear him any ill will. Dude did what he had to do, and he didn't give up. Props to him.
@TiredVigilante Perservance, skilled, driven, smart unrelenting, accomplished and victorious are all words to describe Hossa. Patient is not. Chicago was his 4th team in 4 years. Patient would be accepting the 5 year contract in 2008 from the Penguins and trying again. He was 31 when he won. It wasn't like he was 40 and gave it one last shot. He's going to continue to be a star in the NHL for years and could win another time. He's a fantastic player, but I'm not wrong on calling him impatient.
@MBoggles Hossa haters like you make me fucking sick. It's a business. You learn to get ahead before you get taken advantage of. If you want to hate the guy so much, do some research about him. Maybe you'd learn that he wanted to stay with Ottawa. They signed him to a long term contract. He thought they were good to go. The very next day he gets traded to Atlanta.
If that happened to you, how would you feel? Answer that with some truth before you talk shit.
@MBoggles I'm pretty sure he's gonna stay in Chicago for a while. This guys a fuckign sniper and is real comfortable with the Kane and Toews line and has so much chemistry with them
@donnie1979hot um... EVERY PLAYER IN THE NHL CHASES AFTER THE CUP IT IS WHAT THEY PLAY FOR YOU FUCKING MORON.. HE WAS TRYING TO FIND THE RIGHT TEAM TO CELEBRATE HIS VICTORY WITH!!!
@donnie1979hot Selfish in a way that Pittsburgh wasn't willing to sign him so when Detroit a CUP CONTENDER offered him a deal he took it. Then when Detroits GM went to him and said "after the extensions we have given out this year we won't have the money to sign you" he went and as a Free Agent signed with a Cup Contender...thats selfish? Its not like he just jumped ship. You're a retard
@AyeYuMadBrah Not to discount any of your points, and I'm sure someone else has already said this but, Pittsburgh did give Hossa a substantial offer. If i remember correctly it was similar to the one James Neal just received, only worth more money. The truly unfortunate thing (for me as a Pens fan) is that Hossa left partially because of then Pens coach Therrien, who would obviously be fired midway through the next season.
