cantonese is chinese. Chinese has hundreds of dialects. It's like saying Baptism is not Christianity. Mandarin is the Main Chinese Language however, Chinese has hundreds of dialects like Cantonese, Mongolian, Taiwanese(similar to Mandarin), etc....
