  • I like it!!!! Very good!!!!

  • Ted Nugent is GREAT!

  • Oh man. This was like listening to an all classic rock n roll radio station. Can we just loop this? Best amp demo on youtube. Had a 62 brown face Princeton stolen 35 years ago. This was enjoyable to listen to. Brought back the memories. Thanks!

  • nice paul!

  • Music like it was meant to be played!!

  • That song is the only reason I forgive Ted Nugent for existing.

    Nicely played, btw...

  • hi! is that the original speaker? what about the amp settings? Thanks + Nuge rules!

  • @zemaouche Yes, original speaker. Everything I think was dimed except for the bass which I pull way back on Fender blackface type amps.

  • @EricDMyers settings? Am a big Aerosmith fan and you really nail it

  • @nochix96isnuts So long ago, I don't remember - chances are the volume was near aimed and the bass at about 9 0'clock and then I worked the guitar volume.

  • so this is all tube? and can roll off the volume pot on guitar to clean it up?

  • @almostblind21 Yea. And yes.

  • I just learned that I have been playing Staranglehold entirely wrong for about 32 yrs.

  • I had one of these cranked yesterday at the local shop. What an amp!!

  • Fantastic! I wish they made someting lie this that was still affordable

  • @myway43 check out a fender princeton silverface from the 70s

  • nice!! I'm thinking of buying one. If you crank the volume on the amp, and roll off the volume, does it suck the tone out at all? I notice on most of my amps, that if I roll off the volume a little, it's fine, but turning the guitars volume anywhere below 7, it kinda makes it sound muddy and just sucks the tone away. On my LP, it's not as bad...but I play my Strats mostly. Have you played this amp with a strat? How does it sound?

  • @rickyp5150 To do the volume thing with your guitar volume, I find that you need to have the amp really cranked (tube amps are my only experience). Otherwise, the signal from the guitar just makes the amp sound anemic.

  • rolling back guitar vol to diff degrees is the secret behind this amp, that and keeping the amp vol 7-10

  • @twirlyboggs I think that may be the secret to ALL tube amps!

  • what song are you playing in the beginning??

  • @poolinaround Stranglehold by Ted Nugent

  • a nooge fan in da house..nice playin'...awesome...keep rockin' my brother from another mother!!! Really enjoyed the Aerosmitty also!!!

  • Is this amp. ok for med. venues w/o being mic'ed ?

  • @triplejudy Depends on how loud the rest of the band is.

  • sweet tone and nice playing!

  • Thats the best Demo here with a cranked Princeton RI. My Vol setting also is most 6 up to 9 to have a dynamic and sweet sound. Bass is nearly minimum - its just a problem. Changing the tubes and speaker can improve something.

I should turn up the BIAS a bit to get these harmonic overdrive.

Mostly the Fenders are biased too cold.

    LG, Jo

  • Yeah baby. Rock it!

  • @Eric - I just picked up a PRRI last night. I was not able to get the nice overdrive tone out of my PRRI like you do with yours. With the Princeton dime I played through my Les Paul Studio and the distortion was not very smooth especially on the bass notes. I tried turning the bass all the way down and the treble up and that helped a little. Would you mind telling me what you set your volume and tone to on you LP? Thank you.

  • @voodooyoudo1 I don't remember the EQ settings I used (and I traded the amp for a mandolin a while ago so I can't recreate it =)) but I'll tell you this - my LP has the lowest output pickups I could find, and I always back off a bit on the guitar volume too to tighten things up.

  • I heard the REO in your mix, great sound.

  • This is the evidence that a Fender amp can produce some real rock'n'roll distortion tone without any pedal. When you're playing the "Dream On" riff, it really nails it! Aerosmith must've used small Fender amps a whole lot in the studio. At least on their first albums.

  • Uh... It matters because I want to know if the amp itself sounds that good or if it got help from an effect... It matters alot

  • is this guitar straight to the amp or with an effect?

  • If you can't tell the difference, why does it matter?

  • Straight to amp.

  • Excellent version of Stranglehold.. Nice work.

  • nice sound and great video! and good choice of songs

  • Great sound !!! Congrats ;°)

  • That is awesome tone. I wish I could dime my Deluxe Reverb in my apartment!

  • NICE!!! I hadn't heard someone knockout some Nugent on here in a bit!!!

  • Nice riffs - Check out the 1983, 1984,etc Fender Concert Amp: 2 channel, 60w 1- 4x12 spk with 3 band EQ, mid-boost, presence and reverb. True Fender Surf & Rock sound. It's a little secret that's become well known just in the past few years. In fact, if you find one for sale it might just be rebuilt from a Concert chassis, because they are a little hard to find and no one that owns one will sell it.

  • the nuuuuuuuge!

  • i got you in a strangle hold baby

  • Hi there, nice rocking tone!

Do you just have the volume maxed out? You get a pretty full overdrive from what I was expecting to be a fairly clean amp.

  • Yes. Volume dimed is all.

  • thats cool. I had no idea the Princeton was so crunchy. Are your pickups PAF spec or hotter?

  • They are Duncan Antiquities - I got the lowest output ones I could find

  • Haven't heard you play these in a long time. Thought you might have erased them from your brain. Good to see they are still floatin around in your head. I still have a cassette with your bits and pieces playin Maiden. Awesome....

  • The last thirty or so seconds sound so familiar! Is it a particular song or just a common chord progression?

  • Simple Man by Lynyrd Skynrd

  • good job buddy ! different spin on this amp.

  • Can you tell me how to get up the dist on this amp. is it with the intensity knob? I'm buing a new amp, and this is one of them i am wondering about

  • No "distortion" per se. Just a non-master volume. The "intensity" knob controls the depth of the tremelo.

  • for playing Hendrix what amp is better ?vibra..

  • A Marshall

  • Glad you threw in some vintage Aerosmith!

  • um where do you live teach me

  • By itself probably not, but it takes pedals very well, and would probably get in the zone you are looking for in a great way with some kind of overdrive or distortion. I like using it with a fuzz pedal and believe it or not it's an instant trip to Sabbathland =)

  • Thanks for such an awesome demo, super playing too! I agree with everyone else who has visited, beautiful collection of killer licks.

I just bought the very same amp, am loving it. I notice your playing a classic Paul in the vid; I play an American Tele through mine (as well as an ES 335) and find that the single coils make some noise (more than I thought they would through this amp), the humbckers on my 335 not so much, is this normal?

  • Well, single coils just naturally make more noise than humBUCKERS - Make sure you have nice cables! =)

  • sweet riffage, you neighbors must be deaf or cool as hell.

  • Stranglehold,hunt bears!

  • Ted Nugent huh? quite nice tone and playing. 5 stars

  • You did a really nice job showing the amp off. Nice collection of riffs for sure.

  • Great licks...sold on this little gem...hope it holds up... clean and dirty, WOW

  • Like this amp, thanks for the excellent clip

  • Playing like that gets you one thing......poon tang oh yeah!!!

  • sounds rockin! where did you have the volume knob set on the video? would you recommend this amp for a low to moderate volume clean jazz/blues sound, or is it more of a classic rock thing?

  • It excells in the low cleans! In fact, that is what I think it was put on this earth to do!

In the vid I think the volume was dimed - my personal pref is the vol on about 4.5 - that warm, thick clean

  • Eric,

    Thanks for the response.

So I have a black Fender Blues Jr. and want a second amp. One to keep at home, and one for leaving the house. I am either going to get tweed Fender Blues Jr. w/ a 12" stock Jensen speaker or a Fender Princeton Reissue w/ a stock 10" Jensen speaker.

How would you compare these two amps? Which can go louder and stay clean? Thanks for your input (no pun intended!)

    Anyone else know?

  • Never played a Fender BJ sorry! The Princeton stays pretty clean up to a little past 5 on the dial.

  • Playe both amps. IMHO the Princeton has the rich, smooth tone. The BJ is more brittle and sterile sounding. I suspect the different tubes could have something to do with that. EL34's in BJ...6Vs in the PRI

Only BJ that approaches the PRI is the Lacquered Tweed BJ found at Gcuitar Center.

Tubes run very hot in BJs. If money is not an issue, I would recommend the PRI

  • Finally a demo where we hear the amp and not the dude explaining what a treble control is for 10 minutes.

  • haha, thats true.

  • I hope this clip is a big step in putting such a traumatic experience behind you once and for all.

  • Huh? I don't get it.

  • Great demo! That sounds righteous!

    Bobbo from TGP

  • You're not running any pedals--that's the amps natural drive, correct?

  • Correct

  • Excellent demo, thanks!

Nice nature overdrive. Volume 'dimed' you say? When does it begin to overdrive?

Was considering '65 Deluxe RI but now...hmmm still think i might like the 12" but currently unsure it overdrives the same as Princeton..

  • If you have a Strat, would you mind recording a little bit on that as well? Sounds great through the Les Paul, but I want to get an idea of how it will sound with single coils, without all the tremolo and reverb that is in all of the other vids.

  • Righteous! Nice work... and I'll bet it sounds great with pedals too.

  • Awesome great sound ! Nice job man ;)

  • I want one!

  • teach me...please, i suck, all i know is a shit load of chords.

  • Chords are very important don't forget them!

  • Classic sounds, nice job.

  • Can you give this reissue a thumbs up?

  • Is that just the amp? Because that is an absolute classic breakup. That is indeed the Cat Scratch tone. Nugent used fenders early on. That is an absolutely fantastic tone! Could it be that Fender got this one right?

  • Just amp and guitar
