  • so correct me if im wrong , im only 5'2, i ride a 06 cbr600 , am i just too short as in legs that my knees arent far out enough.??

  • Brazilian Helmet!!! OOhhh YEAHHHH

  • subtitles please....:(

  • Dear MCN - please buy some radio mics and learn how to use them.

    Cheers.

  • dont mean to put a negative comment on your channel - but like me, dont you find MCN are just a bunch of pratts

  • At the end (last 10 sec) He's still sitting in an angle.

When the weater cleares I will try to achieve my first KD with this lesson, Thanks!

  • thats such a bad example!! learing to lean on a public road!!

  • hum, might be better in an area w/p all the traffic in the background and audio static. great info. I think i could put a knee down now.

  • After I started dragging a knee I regretted not spending more time getting all the 'other things' right. Not discounting the fun of getting a knee down... but to go fast, there are a lot more important things to worry about.

  • @IncomingMonkeyTurd

    what you crashed? :O

  • How much is 35 mph in kmp??

  • bout 55 i think

  • 35 / 62 * 100 = km/h

  • Nice job Sir!...it seems that alot of people just sit around waiting like sharks to say something negative...like I said...nice job Sir!

  • If you need lessons on how to do this, then you my son are out of your depth.

  • fashion perhaps...but its a natural thing, when you develop the right techniques in taking corners. the benefits basically helps you gauge your lean angle. rossi and some of the motogp boys learned to use the technique to loosen up their left leg to ease into the position in heavy late braking situations (dont see much of it on right hand bends). they find it to to be an easier way to enter into the bend to get their body and weight into a better position on the bike with a lot more ease.

  • what is the benefit to having your knee down, instead of riding like the other riders? More grip with a different center of gravity?

  • thx for this lesson, but i don't have see new tips... but for the newcomer is good to see this!

  • Why does this sound like it's narrated by a freaking dalek??

  • great! they are practicing knee down in public road.

  • but they are not breaking the speed limit so big deal.

  • what kind of bike does micheal have?

  • latest Yamaha YZF-R1

  • 2007 yamaha yzf R1

  • i have a 600 bandit and i still cant get my nee down is it me or my bike?

  • sorry man, its you.. the bandit is more than capable. get your head down and the knee will follow. you want to almost lean yourself into the corner and let the bike follow your example. When you can't see anything but the road, and maybe a little of your mirror your there. good luck.

  • riding a 999 and not knowing the proper cornering technique , i dont want to be in such a situation.

Is it me or are most of the motorcycle drivers buying heavy superbikes just for bragging reasons.

  • WTF just go to a random roundabout and start caining round it. great. nice and safe lol. so the dithering old dear driving back from tesco's knocking someone off dosen't bother you!!! closed road or runway spring to mind?????

  • caring enough speed and lean angle my ass look at 2:14 and then look at 0:30. twice the lean angle!

  • ha...lmoa

  • i need a suit.. or at least some pants with a knee guard

  • Congratulations to both of you, and a very useful video.

  • How does that guy get his peg down and not his knee? Surely the peg needs a greater lean angle!

  • Getting you peg down means that you have the extreme angle but your not leaning in in a good way,

its usual that people get there peg down first,it means that they need to lean of, so the bike is more upright.

So there is no peg down anymore.

  • I've been riding a number of years and am very comfortable and loose on my bike but I still haven't gotten my knee down.I've got my top body very well off/nose to the side mirror but I can't figure out how much of it is leaning the bike down and you hanging off the bike???

  • i just got my suit 4 days ago and got my right knee down but not my left... if your short like me youll need to use ALL of your back tire and hang that ass off about 3 quarters the way off... for me its all about hangin off and twisting that knee out

  • I'm tall so I have no excuse.I scrape the peg and boot, I'll try this method above nexttime I ride.

  • @skywayghost929 ya, im short too, id have to do the same

  • get a mate to take a photo, it'll show you how far your over and how much your body is right. most people that are getting it wrong are lean off the bike and twist the other half of their body back in. A photo will show this up.

  • horrible sound

  • More power to those boys - I wish I had the ko'xones to lean my CBR over to get my knee down. Any fool can ride fast in a straight line, maneuvering a big bike takes skill and finesse. Thanks to this lesson I might stand a chance without killing myself! BTW Monoqoque, if that is in fact your real name, a bike is only as powerful as you want it to be, I rode a Hayabusa and managed to enjoy myself without having to nail it and go too fast. Throttle control, that's where it's at.

  • i said, what i said cause:

many people buy expensive bikes only for posing and not for enjoying the experience of riding

so what???You for example you will buy a really expensive and powerful ducati without having any knowledge how to ride it fast(if not why to buy it).....

personally i have a cbr 600rr 07 and i can drag my knee down.i learn by my self to steer to the limits.

P.s Thanks for your time :-)

  • @monoqoque learn by yourself to speak english correctly before typing it......

  • @jhardy66617 mathe ellinika esi kai meta ela na kouventiasoume kopane....

  • @monoqoque i dont care what your first language is, id rather see that then screwed up english

  • @jhardy66617 oti kai na les malakas meneis...

  • @monoqoque 6 months later you reply? just give up

  • @jhardy66617 ftise ta mpoutia sou na kaneis tsoulithra...

  • expensive bikes...

    no skills ...

  • its called a lesson you cunt

  • really.....

to learn you don't buy so powerful bikes

you buy something with less power

    and speak better next time

    :-)

  • why not learn on something you're going to ride for along time rather than something for practice and then switching to a different bike...

  • because i believe its dangerous...

and the damage that you will do to the bike if you fall it will be very expensive

and usually people that know how to ride they buy so powerful bikes

expect if they have the cash

    (check the video!!!!!)

  • Cool CBR 600, same as mine :) I wouldn't buy a Ducati BTW, I prefer Jap bikes as I only ride and do not drive, reliability is a big factor in my choice of bike, hence the Honda!

  • Trust the LAW to be there again to take all the fun out of it.

  • One can get dizzy...!

  • you got to admit that its sad when a 40+ year old man on a world performance superbike need to go in a circle to do something that come natural on the track

  • Why what does age matter? Infact what does it matter what bike you're on. As long as he's enjoying it who the fook is anyone to say anything about it.

He's eager to learn at least and isn't one of these knobs who thinks they can be quick and go fast and end up headfirst into a car or a tree.

  • I have seen 6 year old kids drag knee without any class.

This is the type of thing that comes with time, like wheelies.

If you need a class on kneedragging its too early for you, need to spend more time on the bike...

  • I agree with both of you blokes. I've been on many runs where i've seen bikes end up on the wrong side of the road because they came in too hot and weren't commited enough to drag it through. On the other hand, alot of guys hang off entirely and end up stuffing it up by focusing on the knee down and not getting through the corner properly. Bad form can stay with someone for years if it's not corrected. Good adv training is priceless.

  • =)tolle sache das

  • I really want to do this. Bit surprised they are doing it on a public road.

Its actaully against the law to get your knee down on a public highway. 3 points and a £60 fine. Only found out myself when I was on a rideout with a copper mate of mine lol

  • he got a peg down?!? is he implying he's layed out on the track? i'm not really caught up with enlish lingo

  • I think he meant he scraped a peg.

  • USA needs millions more roundabouts, and millions less traffic lights and stop signs.

  • jhilead, dont try to hard mate :S it'll come in time, cause when you try to hard bad things happen

  • im 17 n ive jst gone from a 50 to a 400 and wnat to be able to do this sooooooooo badly! lol

  • what motard bike can you set up to knee drag?

  • just watched dis at 00.40 am n im bout 2 go out 2 try it.yehhhhhhh boiiiiii!!!!!!

  • did you get your knee down then?, hope you warmed your tyres up good. Peace

  • Haha niiiice, did you end up getting, all i want is a good picture of me doing it.

  • woops, this was supposed to be a reply to someone...

  • the secret to this knee down malarky...

    Thanks Micheal Neeves

  • where is this nice roundabout...

  • put your weight onto your feet !!!!! DO NOT HAVE ANY WEIGHT ON THE HANDLEBARS !!!!!! Because if u hit a bump or something all your bodyweight is on the footpegs and you will not countersteer or affect the steering of the bike. This is very very important PUT YOUR WEIGHT ONTO YOUR FEET !!!!

  • @a6km

if you hit a bump when turn and you're leaned down that much, you're screwed no matter where you're weight is at. the bike's gonna go down and so is the rider

  • @lnromandude not if youve set your suspension correctlyyyyyyyyyyy :D

  • @jhardy66617

true, but most bikes that the average people ride (such as my zzr600) don't have adjustable suspension. what gotta deal with what you got lol

  • @lnromandude thats my problem i got a vfr 400 nc30, and suspension is rock hard =/

  • @a6km When you say put the weight on the footpegs, do you mean the outside or inside pegs?

  • @johnnnycassh if you look at moto gp guys or world superbikes sometimes they stick their inside foot out nobody really knows why but that tells you that there is not much weight on your inside foot. Do a riding course they will teach you how to use your feet, fuel tank, where to put your elbows, what a centrifugal force is doing for you and so on

  • @johnnnycassh outside peg.. your mind tells you that it will pull the bike up but its about the weight being down low instead of high..

  • This vid helped me, but I didn't have pants with knee pucks until today. Tried it and got it on the 5th revolution in like 3 minutes. Sadly it was only on the left puck, right is still clean. That time will come. Good luck to all of you out there, make sure you use your upper body and look past the bars. Trust your bike and yourself, and you'll get it.

  • Well hello today if seen the move 3time's and got on my bike today and yes afther 10min it was don furst time and the video help wunderfull fore me.

Think good about the speed fore you can put your knee down and good luck for all that are going to try it out :D

  • So what? If they wanna ride a sports bike what business is it of yours? Don't worry kid, one day you will progress from your scooter then you can try it yourself...

  • I could get round there faster on a C90 with my arse firmly on the seat!

    ;o)

  • I don't think you could boo!!!! ........and if you could, why don't you post a vid of it instead of whining like your godawful slide guitar playin. :o)

  • That's thrown the gauntlet down.

I'll go and make the vid today!

    :o)

(and that slide guitar isn't me by the way, but I can pass the message on)

  • Bring it on!!! I look forward to seeing it later today, whatever the outcome. My apologies for painting you with the shit guitar playing brush. :-o

  • Please help, im trying to get my knee down on my z1000 (07). im only a dinky bloke (5'5) and i hope that this is not the problem. I can get the right peg down but not my knee. im following all the advice (lean off, dont twist, dip shoulder, head by mirror etc) is the fact its a more upright riding position going to effect it? is the fact im only little going to effect it??? if so, how can i compensate for this (leg extensions are not an option LOL) please could some give me some advice. Thanks

  • Hahaha, ridiculous to do a kneedown that way...

Btw, why the hell buy a 999 if you can't even fucking ride it?!?!

    Shh...

And it doesn't feel special at all....

  • I touched my knee down on a trackday at oulton park round knickerbrook on the way out of hizzy's, and i made me jump as i didn't expect it, i've not done it again since... LOL.

  • I have just one comment about getting my knee down..........

I'm not afraid or scared of trying it, its just that my bike is too expensive to go round a corner like that and have the thing slide from under me cause some twat can't clean up the oil dripping from under his car and onto the road.

  • cheack out the road before you try kneedown on it? :p

  • Z1000vda you said it purfact!!

  • why dont you just park and throw the key and dont ride it..oh put some clear plastic cover ...and just enjoy looking ur bike in yur garage,.

  • Every rider should try it. Gets you used to extreme lean angles (you may need to use that much lean some day) plus, if you can keep your awarness of traffic up will dragging a knee it makes your observation better all round!

  • they couldn't find a more dangerous place to practice?! And what about the noise? Not a good stop to make an instructional video.

  • just like the other bloke said ,on the road it just commits you and puts you in a position to get nipped by a car someday. The best riders on the street can keep their ass on the seat just fine and outride any poser through any twisty

canyon and I've seen it up close

  • 100% agreed. I've had thesame, people saying theyre fast and cool, showing their sliders... and me riding round them with no probs.

Hilarious to talk to them afterwards btw.

  • Hahaha, it's nothing like the first time your knee touches the pavement. It feels great and puts a huge smile on your face.

  • *there's

  • Actually JPThomp7 i HAVE had my knee down at 100mph (and not on some poncy removed-from-reality-loads-of-run-off-no-lorries track day either). But it DEFINITELY wasn't on the first bike i had (MZ150!). I shouldn't slag off new bikers - the more of us there are, the stronger an argument we present to the nanny government health and safety killjoys. As for wheelying into the sunset - I'm working on it... :-)

  • yeah, dont slag off new riders. almost the first thing i did when i got my CBR125 (apart from learn gears) was teach myself how to get my knee down on roundabouts. am just loking forward to the deliver of the new yama to play with.

  • Bikes are toys!!! I used to have a abit of a problem with the peg catching, rather than my knee scraping (not anymore).

  • How the fuck did the rest ov u learn 2 get ya knee down then. I suppose u jumped on the first bike u had. Got ya knee down on the first corner ya came 2 at 100mph and then wheelied off in2 the sunset. Give them a break even if they do look like twats cause once those leathers are on we all do anyway.

  • Sooeey u said it man! But ur right genkiplus maybe i was a bit harsh. I started biking in 1977 and have lovd them nonstop ever since, so i get a bit annoyed at the whole Direct Access thing allowing essentially non-biking people to get their dream toy. But bikes AREN'T toys. And they ARE wankers... GO SOOEEY!!!

  • You're so right snooby.. "Lalala look what i bough everyone" Wankers!!

  • This is typical MCN pandering to well-heeled mid-life crisis Direct Access TOSSERS who've never ridden before and think they can become "bikers" overnight. WANKERS!!!

  • This is why we need proper roundabouts in USA.

  • very good nice

  • Fookin Hell! That Dave bloke looks proper dangerous!! Ha Ha! Twitchy or what? Neeves doesn't look very impressed to say the least when he lets him loose on the R1! Hilarious.

  • it teaches you all about positioning and it does make you a better rider, it helps you to take a corner faster and safer.

I learnt on a roundabout and can now do it on corners.

  • And whats all this prove ? It dont make you a better rider and only gives the plod yet another chance to nick a biker. Roundabout rangers ?...

  • it proves they can get their knee down, obviously.....
