Stupid U.N. comment there won't be a democratic hondorus left if they allow this leftist socialist to change the laws of their constitution which he took an oath to defend. this country has come a long way and has just shown the world they have truly embraced democracy by kicking this power hungry poliyion out. First of all, that was no U.N. comment, but an attempt on part of the EU to urge Honduras´ political establishment to respect its legal framework ass et by their constitution. Albeit that attempt might be seen as weak since the E.U. has not yet achieved unconditional backing by all its member states. Without it, they cannot be seen as real authority on a global stage. Its call is therefore of limited use and should be left to EU national gvts if it is meant to be more effective.

Second, it will remain to be seen if any international attempt to call for a respectful political conduct should be succesful or not, even more so if the powers to be are not sincere in their political calls. The U.S., E.U.´s official discontent with the current events in Honduras should have actually brought back Zelaya into office, just because sanctions from economic superpowers could effectively harm a much weaker country in any respect. So the question is whether the PTB are being sincere.

The hondorus governement was entirely legal to arrest it's president. The military did not act with the coup on it's own.

The entire hondorus government, including the courts, etc. were supportive of the coup because that is the only way you can take a dictator, or a potential dictator from office. The military with the backing of the national state is in place to protect the soverignty of the national constitution.
