I totally removed the old paint and my case looks like bare metal. do I need to spray first coat of primer? thanx for your replyand another one thing i want to ask is if im painting my case metallic red wats the best primer color to use?
Very nice work. I have built cars for years, and your case painting technics are at the top of the charts. I am especially impressed with your ability to quickly and effectively discriminate the information required to be successful doing paint mods. Your advice and technical skills should be followed by anyone who if wanting to put a great finish on anything from a mod case, model car or a full on custom rod!...Well Done! I can't wait to see the next project you do.
sure does..one thin wet coat of epoxy and your good to go..sand blasting warps the hell out of steel panels cause it creates heat. Epoxy comes in a number of colors as well so you buy less paint cause you have a good ground coat. TC
quick trick on the primer guys...no sanding involved when using epoxy primer. Been in the auto trade for years. if ya want to test this theory take a glass dish/drinking glass spray thin coat epoxy primer and let it dry. then try and scrape it off with a razor blade! Just passing on some time saver stuff to ya...TC
Has anyone just did the self etching primer without coating over it? I am thinking of just using the primer and saying hell with it.. I am painting the inside of my case black and really like a matte black finish..
Sand it, prime it with a decent plastic primer. Then paint with a paint that is made for plastic. Should be fine. Just do really thin coats. Seems to run really easy.
I have a question... is it possible to get this type of finnish on plastic parts as well? I have a NZXT Tempest and i am thinking to getting a mirror finish on the outside and paint it blavk and red inside with some cold cathode lights.. Any suggestions? Dennis
self etching primer helps the paint adhere to the metal, without it your paint will not stick well and may flake/peel significantly sooner then if you had used primer.
yea i think... i just sand it and primer it agin it turn out just fine. got my hot rod red on my thermaltake LanBox looks pretty sweeeet. just gotta let it set now. put it on youtube in few weeks guessing June 7th
thats if you don't do it right... spray paint jobs can look great as well, you were probably seeing overspray which is when a certain area gets too much spray
or your paint wasn't shaken up and was cold... try putting the can in a bowl of warm water for a few minutes next and then shake it up
good videos... im trying learn much as i can how to paint for my skulltrail project. i got myself Cooler Master Cosmos S case. all i want to do the case just paint inside black.
damn i need something to practice this with...im planning on doing a mirror finish on the cosmos 1000, when i get it ..thanks for the tutorial..it looks easy, but i hope i can do this.
Great video, i like how you did this one, but i like how the others were done more. Doing it in person gives it a more personal feel and makes it feel less like a commercial lol. But good video in all, it taught me a lot since i have been actually looking at modding a micro case.

if you decide to not wetsand can you just to a clear coat and also do you have to do a clearcoat if you do wetsand
syndromeskim2 3 years ago
You can just apply clearcoat and not wetsand if you wish. You don't have to wetsand before applying clearcoat if you don't want to.
MonsterMawd 3 years ago
The wetsanding is to get the paint nice and flat and to get the bubbling structure out of it.

you are a beast... looks like a machine applying that primer!
