The literal translation of Chakra is "wheel". We all have 7 such wheels or centers in our bodies representing the various states of consciousness from the lowest animal instincts all the way to the "crown" which represents enlightenment and is represented in paintings by a halo.
This brought tears to my eyes because I am the drummer on this song. Mixed emotions for me. I was the one who coined the name Chakra for the band because I was very in to TM and Eastern Philosophy. Wonderful to see how it still holds up today.
saw these guys live in mossport canada..blew me away..think it was 1970 at some acid fueled rock fest...youngbloods, jethro tull and so many more..them was the daze
Ha! you're from DC. Musta been Harv Moore spinning it, although I heard it on WEAM 1390 too .Great song. I had the original 45 I bought when it was in the stores (flip side - Clover Hill). Lost all my 45s in a fire a while back but I still have the list of records! Thanks for posting a great song that never got enough airplay!
one of the best things ive heard in years, going to have to track down a copy of this! its like fraser and debolt with mad electric guitar, just amazing. Buffy should be proud if she heard this. :)
PS FYI Coincidently......

I heard this once on WPGC about 40 years ago. I've been looking for this song ever since and finally found it. Thanks for posting.
