I've always loved Field Demonstration Days through the years, and I hope in high school we'd be dancing these magnificent folk dances...!!!

My 65 year old cousin (FBI)remembers having to do this dance during PE in high school. I'm suprised because this is a Visayan dance. My first wife was Half Visayan and half Irish I'am half Ilocano and half German. Like our fathers we did not get along. I'am suprised by the Filipino divisions brought to this country. We have a huge Filipino Club here in Santa Maria Ca. yet the Visayans choose to rent the Portuguese Hall for thier celebrations Whats up? My ex-Visayan wife is still pretty!!

Divisiveness is an old issue. Could it be because we were then torn with loyalties? Nevertheless, we should FOCUS on the GOOD and the BEAUTIFUL sides of our Filipinoness. Lahat ng lahi may kapintasan. "All forms of cultures have shortcomings". None is exempted.  PROUD PINOY AKO.

Exactly! being an American Mestizo I see no difference between any Filipino's and enjoy my heritage. Filipinos here were once limited to servitude jobs. The work ethic brought here by the early immigrants has elevated me and those FOB to a America that appreciates the intelligence, work ethics and family values that are that are FILIPINOS.

Why is traditional Filipino music not being played on radio or TV in the Philippines?

In other Asian countries like Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand, traditional music is very popular and promoted by the media.

I really loved watching and even dancing folk dances. It's steps are great and even the costumes does. I don't know why many other Filipinos like foreign or modern dances better than these dances. It may not be bad to dance dances like that, but ..........

TIklos is a very great folk dance!

My 9 year old granddaughter and 11 grandson saw this and have been practicing so they can perform it at school. My FBI father would have laughed himself to death seeing his 1/4 Ilocano blonde greatgrandkids performing this dance. Thank you for posting these video's it is a gateway to our culture.

Pag repititive yong dance steps madalas ipino-focus sa mukha o kaya kumukuha ng sort of artistic angles. Pero implied na yong movement is same and continuous. You're a nice critic :)

Hi Mr Jun. There a lot of VCD and DVD of Philippine Folk Dances. It is regretable that alot of the dance steps of these videotaped dances are either modified or totally different. I suggest that you refer to published books for your reference. ALot of these books are available online. If you have seen some "weird" or rare or never before seen folk dances just ask the PHil Folk Dance Society for the dance notation if they have. PFDS is at the CCP.
