8 balls aren't bad looking, highball is really cool looking. I've ridden pretty much everything, Victory included, rode all the Harley models, never a wide glide but a street bob. Ill say this...for me personally, I like when a bike has a character and personality, the only bikes that I have ever ridden that have "spoke" to me, were BMW Airheads, and Harley Dynas and Road Kings. I rode the Vics, and I really really wanted to like them, but...they felt very robotic to me. souless.
@verej1 I'll take my stock Hammer and walk on any stock Harley and this video does not give the Victory sound justice. They sound fine to me. Harley needs to keep their exhaust loud so they can cover up all the engine problems they have.
@Diddybeedid Sure... my uncle smoked a vic on his streetglide with a 96 that has 43 k miles on it. I scare dudes on vics with my softail 88. remember not everyone can ride good, but we sure as hell can! Ohh yeah no engine problems here brah
it sounds like he liked more things about the harley but still picked the victory. typical victory owner. it would be nice to see an indipendant comparison, not by the victory owners group or a victory owner. are there any motorcycle publications that do independant reviews?
Victory Riders are the new Goldwing riders! i laughed at the Grandpas on the Goldwings back in the day. And performance, all I would ever need, who is going to blast off to 140 MPH from a stop light anyway? My Harley has the look, the sound and the performance! 120 torque and 127 HP, more than I will ever need so don't look in your rear view mirror for me.
Hey I love drag bars and I don't think I've ever seen a Vic with drag bars. Is there something about a Vegas' or Kinpin's frame geometry that makes the installation of drag bars undesirable / unthinkable / incongruent / no-can-do? In other words...can you fly a Vic with drag bars or not????????
@MackSanDiego to answer your question, yeah, you can, my wife has drag bars on her '08 Vegas. I have stock bars on both of my vic's...and beach bars on the old roadstar.
Ride them both before you commit. I have . All I know is that I see alot of Harleys in the REAR view mirror of my Victory. Its 1930s tractor technology trying to keep up.. Harley? You can keep it.. Also making a profit on one?..LOL Try selling one for what you bought it for...You'll lose your azz.
Why people hate on Harleys? I wonder Why? its funny when the question comes up, which one sounds better!!!! you cant deny it that Harley potato sound its just like music ..... The only good thing about Victory is that is American Made just like a Harley .... Harley its Harley no matter what....
If you put down 20 G's on a motorcycle, the Harley Davidson or the Victory, which one is going to hold its value over time.
Five years down the road how much is that Victory going to be worth?
You know that Harley is going hold its value, even show you a profit.
HD's have been commanding respect worldwide for over a hundred years and those Victory bikes are a newcomer. Are you going to recoup your investment from that?
hey victorys are great bikes, but how about updating your dealerships; no rentals, no jumpstarts (stationary test rides), no lacking customer service, just bland. at the harley davidson dealership i go to there is a family atmosphere and all the things i mentioned above. my mind was dead-set on buying a victory, but after the harley dealership experience and everything they offer, im seriously thinking about getting a harley. victory, put the same effort you put in your bikes into your dealers.
Its funny to me when you take these Victorys to bike rallies, and they get totally overlooked and get no respect. The bottom line is, in most people's opinion, the Victory doesn't look good, it doesn't sound good, and nobody pays any attention to them. There's no doubt that the Vegas is faster, but faster is not what it all about to most people buying this type of bike. Harley is still the standard.
what a gay vid. Victorys rule. They did the sound comparison from the non exhaust side of the Victory and the exhaust side of the Harley. Of course they sound different. Anyway, why would you want to copy the sound of the harley? Even Harley know that if they want some serious "go", they have to turn to a Porshe design motor like the Night Rods, VRods and V Rod Muscles. They dont sound like the Dyna either, in fact the VRod muscle sounds like a Honda standard
Wow, talk about a scripted interview. This is my fourth Vegas, I don't like anything about them, but I would leave here and buy another. If he didn't read the "SCRIPT" and say that,...the "GADGET GURU" would have to through the whole days work in the trash. They leave in mis- information like my leg hits the transmission, when we all know it's the primary cover, the trans is directly behind the engine. This is to portray honestability from a normal guy. Kickstand, R U kidding!!!!!!!!!!!
@socalpimp1974 LOL because they "are" modern, HD is still the same lame tech from the 50's..no one really cares about "sound " if they care about performance.
So... he says the harley looks better, has a better trans, brakes better, is more stable at high speeds, and sounds better. Yet he prefers the Victory. Huh..
Also, he looks too small for that wide glide. No wonder he didn't like the riding position.
Man the sound comparison really made the Harleys case......I really didnt see anything from this video that would make me choose a Victory over a Harley.
Not much of a sales pitch for either bike IMO. As far as sound goes....ya the HD sounds better outta the box but the Vic with nice aftermarket pipes sounds good too. I think the Vic looks way cleaner and will be my next customizing project. Rubber side down boys !!
Is Victory trying to sabotage itself with this video? Why would I want to buy a bike which sounds like a dying animal? just because it has a better kick stand?
@omid455 The video does not give the sound credit but if your main concern is getting that "Harley Sound" then by all means go out and buy one. I will stick with Victory. Got to love Capitalism and competition.
WRONG tester to Interview! For a truer comparison. Why not find 2-3 Non-traditional cruiser riders! , And allow them to ride the bikes for a couple hours. Seriously.
Also Of course the Harley will feel WIDE , He's 5'8" Jesus !
I personally think the Victory's are a better bike for the money , BUT would love to see once in for all, An Impartial review!
The last thing this guy should have done was start both bikes up and let us hear them! The HD sounded raw and loud and the Victory sounded like a Honda! if the way the engine sounded was important to me as a buyer (and it is somewhat) I wouldn't hesitate to jump at the HD!
Well I can say that I own a 08 HD Dyna Street Bob and it's for sale. I am considering a Victory for my next bike mainly because Victory has just come out with the Hi-Ball and that's the look I really want! In order to get that old school bobber look from Harley I would have to downgrade a bit from a Dyna to the Sportster Forty-Eight and then spend thousands to modify it to look like I want. It's going to be a tough decision as I love HD.
doesn't that victory vegas sound like a honda civic? I can tell you why the victory vegas does not have a fork lock. victorys aren't desireable. I mean would you really want to steal a victory? If you can't get anything for them in resale or trade-in you probably couldn't get anyone to steal one., So no, the lock isn't necessary. I don't know why these guys keep getting white belt wearing wanna be bikers like Don the victory detail guy to do comparisons.
@mrome00 Good friend of mine bought a new HD earlier this year (2011) for $24,000 (softail) he hates it and can't trade or sell because it is only worth half what he paid, he went to Vic and HD and trade in value is $12,000. Just traded my '07 Jackpot in June on a new Cross Road got $8700 trade ( still more than half what I paid in '07 ) My wife's Vegas still has about $8500 trade in value which is more than half what we paid new...so looks like Vic has HD beat in resale already.
I love the fair honest part at around 1:00... He owns 3 Victory bikes already so no kidding hed buy a Victory... Get a Harley rider and have him test a Victory youd get the same problem... What they NEED to do is get a person who rides a Honda or a Kawisaki. Oh and at 3:00 he comments about his leg being on the engine... Thats the primary cover not the engine... Can we get a REAL comparison?

Can we get a non biased comparison? Not only has the dude owned multiple vegas bikes, but he said immediately leaving the parking lot he didn't want to ride the WG. what a joke of a review. These type videos are good for the consumer. I would like to see Victory do a test ride session with the founder of the Hells Angels Sonny Barger. He would be honored. Even though it sounded like he found a few things about the Victory that he would like changed and a few things about the Harley that he definately prefered??
Victory motorcycle has more in common with foreign bikes than it has with other American brands The American V-twins are all based on 1-inch handlebars and SAE nuts and bolts; the Victorys typically have 7/8-inch bars and metric fasteners. In fact, the parts made by the American V-twin companies have as much chance of fitting the Victory as they have of fitting Kawasaki or Yamaha motorcycles. In that sense only, the Victory is foreign to the V-twin market.

In fact, the parts made by the American V-twin companies have as much chance of fitting the Victory as they have of fitting Kawasaki or Yamaha motorcycles. In that sense only, the Victory is foreign to the V-twin market
