@koalajones88 I have provided the link to better quality version in both video and description if you haven't noticed ;) it's just that this one was uploaded so much longer before and I didn't feel like deleting it :P
When the song shifts from the verse to the chorus, Jonny Greenwood plays three blasts of guitar noise ("dead notes" played by releasing fret-hand pressure and picking the strings). Greenwood said he did this because he did not like how quiet the song was; he explained, "So I hit the guitar hard—really hard".[2] Ed O'Brien said, "That's the sound of Jonny trying to fuck the song up. He really didn't like it the first time we played it, so he tried spoiling it. And it made the song."
This sucks - be aware though, that there is a good quality version of Youtube. Don't leave having heard just this. Search Radiohead totp and you'll find it under "radiohead-creep"
TOTP did that alot - playbacks but with live vocals.
Weird thing about the instrument playbacks, is Jonny's guitar. The crunch bit before the chorus (the "you're so fucking special" bit), I've noticed in this one that the second pre-chorus at 1:45, Jonny misses the first one, and still no sound. I'm wondering if that noise was a seperate sample triggered off at the key points to make it seem like they're doing it live.
I might not be making much sense here, but it's clearly noticeable.
Interesting idea. I think they might have edited it out to make it appear that it's live....you know, bands sometimes omit or add things in a live performance..who knows!
this brilliant stuff. chekout a band called jekyll and their song bone crunching kick to the head and their song animals.they are brilliant and i feel emotion in bone cruncher.i love both bands radiohead and jekyll.
probably just a "prop" for TV. I don't think that's Ed's Rickenbacker either - he didn't have a sunburst one like that until about 1996, and it's a different shape.
My guess is they were touring at the time, and didn't want to bring any of their gear to the BBC studios for the sake of a performance that's not even live.
They went beyond U2 with songs like Paranoid Android, Knives Out, Pyramid Song, Idioteque, etc etc etc. They are more like the new Pink Floyd, without the conceptual thingie.
seriously though, I like this if only for showing how important the bassline was to Creep. never mind that the Creep bassline was freely copied from the Hollies (the band gave credit) it's still a great moment for Colin Greenwood and when you can't hear it the song doesn't feel like Creep at all. I was just thinking, tho we Radiohead fans don't put any faith in pop charts, is it any coincidence that Creep and Nude are the only RH songs to ever chart in the US top 40? Their only BASS driven hits!
Radiohead are my heroes. Even when appearing in such a popular TV show with attempted stylish clothes, they decided to leave out the bass in this performance as a way of creating experimental music! True punks!
as much as i still have a lot of love for this song and album ... this video is really good at highlighting exactly why the band look back on this era with so much disdain. they look like fucking morons. thom with tight pants and what is almost a mullet?!? its horrible!!
that is a sick rickenbacker that he's playing. not to be messed up but thoms hairdo is so 90's. ha ha ha please don't call me names cause i can't stand people who stand up to dumb shit like music.
I'm a big Radiohead fan, but this is NOT a good version. Apart from the horrible sound, the drums drag behind, Yorke sounds disinterested, and they all look bored....sorry.
"Pub rock"??? No way can you call the Pixies "pub rock". They laid the foundation for the grunge movement in the 80s and 90s, and still can be heard as an influence in bands today. Sure, Radiohead are like 20 times better, but Pixies are just a s important.

No, I mean PUB rock, as in that they're the standard of a band who plays in a pub. Crap musicianship and vocals, and not to mention dogshit tunes. Nobody cares about the Pixies except diehard Radiohead and Nirvana fans who've heard those bands mention the Pixies as an influence. It's the same reason why Radiohead fans, since Kid A, have pretended to have liked bands like Aphex Twin and Autechre for years. I've never heard a Pixies song at a wedding, at a party, or anywhere. Irrelevant old cunts.
No Pixies no Radaiohead, simple as that. They're a very special band. Bands like that only come around every so often. The pixies are amazing, not as good as Radiohead imo but you're a fool if you think they're "utterly awful". Its not a party without the Pixies. Radiohead are my favourite band but i do not want to hear them at a party!
Go stick treefingers on at the next party your at and see how well it goes down.
I've never heard the Pixies at a party. ABBA, Village People, Erasure... never the Pixies. I've also never heard Radiohead at a party, but why choose "Treefingers" as an example? An ambient instrumental that's a distict one-off? Why not Just, High & Dry or Karma Police? At least people might acknowledge that while they're not good party tunes, they're still good tunes. If the Pixies went on at a party people would simply want to kill the DJ for playing dreadful, tuneless tat.
nope, it was damon albarn ;) but surely there must be more people thinking same as you ;) i'm crazy about that redhead thom from the bends era though ^^

this was back in the days when radiohead sucked heavily. you and blow out are the only good songs on pablo honey, and i hate how they felt like they had to be the british equivalent of grunge. thank god that they moved away from the shit and are now undeniably the best band that ever existed, hmm? <3 thom, even grunge thom. we forgive you.
'grunge thom' lmfao its not grunge :\ its alternative rock.. same with the bends. old radiohead is best radiohead. new stuff doesn't compare to it IMO

i think radiohead would probably cringe a fair bit looking back on this. had to start somewhere i suppose.

the phrase in the song 'float like a feather' really means she stings like a bee because of the pain of not being able to get close to her

this was back in the days when radiohead sucked heavily. you and blow out are the only good songs on pablo honey, and i hate how they felt like they had to be the british equivalent of grunge. thank god that they moved away from the shit and are now undeniably the best band that ever existed, hmm? <3 thom, even grunge thom. we forgive you.

'grunge thom' lmfao its not grunge :\ its alternative rock.. same with the bends. old radiohead is best radiohead. new stuff doesn't compare to it IMO

i hate this show, how all the bands lip synch with their instruments, and only the vocals are live

notice how johnny misses his queue and no sound comes out right before the second chorus.
