this track was a welcome change from Loudon's (NHIS) technical nature. yeah, try this track on a motorcycle. my first time here after the 1st or 2nd practice session I just sat on my bike thinking how the hell I was going to be able to go into and through turn one in 6th gear full throttle and get into the low 1:50s on a Yamaha fzr400. it took about a year (4visits) by just hanging onto the New Yorkers wheel
It was destroyed and converted into a Golf Course by then-owner Robert Rubin because he felt it would be more profitable to run a Country Club on the property. The Track was scheduled for demolition in the late 80's but, was saved and leased by Dennis Macchio, until Mr. Rubin refused to renew his lease after ten years of track recovery.
Get it on Youtube and or dvd! And there must have been races aired on tv from the 60's someone must have some great footage. I really would like to see it all.
Naah - this is just a camcorder inside during a club track day before the place closed to become a golf course. The same guy took me around in a Porsche for a 2 minute lap, very scary. Notice he does not lift for the "bridge",that's about 130mph. About a 2G load going into a blind right hander - SCARY. The turn did widen on the run out so you just had to have faith. I have video of Alfa, Healey, Porsche club track days. I'll put some together to post.Donohue lapped in 1:34 in the CanAm Turbos.
good video, brings back some memories.....pretty sure Eric Wood had the motorcycle record 1:38 or so..before they bulldozed it. I crashed a 91 gsxr there back in the day.
It's pretty fast. Timed by watching the old start/finish on the left of the straight, it's about a 1:54. Fast but not SO fast, since the car seems to pull strongly. I think I remember seeing a CSR in the 1:40's. You can see he doesn't get on it until past the bridge, too. Here's an older motorcycle mark at Bridgehampton: Dale Quarterley 1:40.16 1992 Kawasaki ZX-7R
Awesome, great video. Love this track. Its so sad it is now defunct! Anyone have any videos of the classic sports car races from the 60's? I would love to see some video of any of the races that took place there.

To anyone who has ridden this track on a bike, "Turn one, baby!"
kneedragger29 4 years ago
that also applies for cars as well. I have seen many people going flatout down to turn 1 as andretti calls it it separates the men from the boys.
