  • dick!

  • @mlomailom gay!

  • this guy is a really asolejijijij

este tipo es real mente tonto.

  • this is the best video youve ever made lol, i totally love the idea of customizing my own live cd, im doing it now :) thx

  • A couple shell commands should help customization.

mount -o loop and mkisofs (with the appropriate ISOLINUX files).

It really is that simple. I did the same to a GoblinX ISO I got a while back. Thankfully, it accepted LZM packages, so I just put my stuff into the modules directory, remade the filesystem, and burned it.

  • the custom site you recommended has an old distro with old programs. I don't have a better site to recommend, but there were a lot of suggestions on your live video comments. I currently use DSL for basic live cd or linux os, and linux-gamers for good online open source games. It is an OS with a lot of games and firefox. thats about it.

  • ALL linux livecds are configurable. Just because there isn't a pretty GUI to do it for you doesn't mean it's not possible or even hard.

  • Were is the anti-virus? options on the website.

  • Linux doesn't need an anti-virus, Linux is built much better tan Windows so Viruses have a smaller affect and don't spread as easily, that plus since Linux has a smaller market share not too many people have bothered making viruses for it.

  • Oh I see.

  • this guy is a 35 year old version of joey from hackers. he's a total idiot.

  • for a geek chris doesn't know much about computers...

  • he knows enough to get paid for it

  • Well then I should be flipping rich by now.

  • so you think you know a lot about computers? yet you aren't getting paid for it? HAHA!

  • in my experience, those who think they know a shit load about computers, don't really know shit at all.

  • relax... its just youtube.... and you dont know me...

  • i wish you the best of luck with your career in IT.

  • OMG it's GNU/linux...... not just linux.........

  • this guys a faggot

  • no, this guys AWESOME!!! "a internet god"

  • Hi. i am new in Ubuntu.......how do i install an .exe file ?!

  • it's quite hard to use a .exe file and why do u want to use one? exe files aren't used much on Linux i believe u have to use Terminal to compile or whatever is in your .exe file i've only used an .exe because it was a wifi driver in Linux

  • use it with wine but i wold rather recomen you to search the software or a replacement on synaptic, and the repos

  • EXE's are windows programs. It can be done with Wine, but it isn't as good as using a native program.

  • It's native code, but the libraries aren't the Windows libraries, so it doesn't always work right.

  • Can't wait for ubuntu to implement this.

  • So u just choose what u want online then download it and burn it onto a cd/dvd?

When do u put the cd in? When its in your normal os?

Do u just take the cd out when u dont want to use live cd?

  • what you do is: burn the disk, insert it into your computer, restart, and it will start. if it doesn't, press f2 or what ever when the bootscreen comes up, go to boot piority, put the cd drive first. to go back to windows, or what ever, put hdd boot first.

  • thanks foor the link i'll try it for sure

  • linux's is fuckin sweet!

  • thanks for this chris this is why i subscribed

  • I'm looking at this now and love the idea - But it looks like it's KDE - YUCK.

  • ya, I hate KDE, GNOME is much better

  • KDE is more configurable and has more features than gnome.

  • really??/ ok which Operating system has KDE I have GNOME of UBUNTU

  • kubuntu is ubuntu on kde

  • huh? what lol

  • I wonder how much OS X sucks as a live CD.

If you want to experience Linux, do a real installation. Not Ubuntu. Try openSUSE with KDE 3. On par with OS X in terms of functionality. It's easy to use too.

I've seen Chris "testing" things like Ubuntu, Xandros, Sabayon and what else. Just try openSUSE. You'll stick with it.

  • I've been using Knoppix exclusively for LiveCDs, but this is pretty darn cool. I kind of wish I could use GNOME with it, but you can't do that in Knoppix, either :P

  • Chris, just install Linux onto a hard drive and you can customize all you want!

  • And when you are trying to troubleshoot someone else's computer? What do you do then. Live CDs and thumb drives are great!!!

  • Wow, this has to go in Ubuntu... I'm going to mess with this in a Virutal Machine soon.

  • i just went to that site and used it.. downloading my custom linux as we speak! thanks chris

  • Love the videos, but it would be helpful if you included the links to the software/websites you are reviewing in the video description.

  • So is live chat open-source?

  • Linux is freaking awesome, I'm using Ubuntu 8.04. I migrated from Windows XP a few weeks ago, NO regrets at all!

  • im using the same thing :)

only thing i wish would work good is wine for games

    but im getting there

  • WINE works really well for games!

P.S. I hate youtube's fucked up comment system!

  • wine works good for opengl games. but not so well for direct x games. i got cedega this morning, it lets me play dx games well

  • I <3 linux

  • Awesome ill have to check this out.

  • I have used this and its so good thanks chris

  • what kind of linux is it for?

  • Its for Nimlex linux

  • linux is good for everything, they are faster, more reliable and have less viruses than any other os.

    it is the best

    linux>unix>mac>windows

    :)
