A couple shell commands should help customization.
mount -o loop and mkisofs (with the appropriate ISOLINUX files).
It really is that simple. I did the same to a GoblinX ISO I got a while back. Thankfully, it accepted LZM packages, so I just put my stuff into the modules directory, remade the filesystem, and burned it.
the custom site you recommended has an old distro with old programs. I don't have a better site to recommend, but there were a lot of suggestions on your live video comments. I currently use DSL for basic live cd or linux os, and linux-gamers for good online open source games. It is an OS with a lot of games and firefox. thats about it.
Linux doesn't need an anti-virus, Linux is built much better tan Windows so Viruses have a smaller affect and don't spread as easily, that plus since Linux has a smaller market share not too many people have bothered making viruses for it.
it's quite hard to use a .exe file and why do u want to use one? exe files aren't used much on Linux i believe u have to use Terminal to compile or whatever is in your .exe file i've only used an .exe because it was a wifi driver in Linux
what you do is: burn the disk, insert it into your computer, restart, and it will start. if it doesn't, press f2 or what ever when the bootscreen comes up, go to boot piority, put the cd drive first. to go back to windows, or what ever, put hdd boot first.
If you want to experience Linux, do a real installation. Not Ubuntu. Try openSUSE with KDE 3. On par with OS X in terms of functionality. It's easy to use too.
I've seen Chris "testing" things like Ubuntu, Xandros, Sabayon and what else. Just try openSUSE. You'll stick with it.
I've been using Knoppix exclusively for LiveCDs, but this is pretty darn cool. I kind of wish I could use GNOME with it, but you can't do that in Knoppix, either :P

ALL linux livecds are configurable. Just because there isn't a pretty GUI to do it for you doesn't mean it's not possible or even hard.

EXE's are windows programs. It can be done with Wine, but it isn't as good as using a native program.
homestar92 3 years ago
It's native code, but the libraries aren't the Windows libraries, so it doesn't always work right.

Can't wait for ubuntu to implement this.

So u just choose what u want online then download it and burn it onto a cd/dvd?
When do u put the cd in? When its in your normal os?
Do u just take the cd out when u dont want to use live cd?

I wonder how much OS X sucks as a live CD.
