  • Holy shit. This is incredible...

  • this is a tribute to jeff you numb nuts. just like beatles tributes bands etc. they try to convey the experience. thats what they do. hes not stealing a song.

  • yup. think actor acting... it's normal to be pissed about death... I wish everyday Bonham and Hendrix were alive... oh wait they are... alive in our hearts if we allow. ... ...

  • all of you need to relax! he did a very good job, and it certainly takes balls to belt out those notes, i'd certainly like to see you try, i bet half of you cant even pick up a guitar or have great singing voices so sit the fuck down! yes, he moves like jeff even sort of dresses the same way, has the same hair, sings the same way, but he has soul and i know when im singing a jeff song im going to mimic and sing the same way he did. so shut the fuck up.

  • THIS IS SO FUCKING FUCKED UP BEYOND BELIEF

  • im a little scared of this

  • @.@ I was not expecting that...

  • Technically and emotionally on par with Jeff. Anyone who disses this performance has no understanding of the technical and emotional mastery required to cover a difficult song that well. I am blown away. Just remember Jeff became who he was by hero worship. mimicing and imitation. His influences were varied enough so that he didn't end up sounding exactly like anyone else. If Damon can vary his influences watch this space.

  • beautiful tribute!

  • That's definitely the guy Mary Guibert needs for the biopic about her son.

  • penn badgley??? FUCKIN BULLSHIT!

  • Awesome vocals no doubt! Just haven't made up my mind of whether it's creepy or just a weird coincidence how he moves, dresses and sings like Jeff Buckley but overall wow! nice to hear a voice like and similar to Buckley's out there reviving the music that so many of us can now only listen to on a record and not live.

  • Nice performance! It sounds like the version from the Olympia, Paris. I guess this is the version Damon Daunno covered.

  • Nice job guy! Everyone else that doesn't appreciate this stop hating!

  • Still no Buckley

  • Damon Daunno needs to get the role of Jeff in his upcoming biopic, he looks and sounds like Jeff, a truly amazing tribute. Any other person, especially a main stream actor, would be a disservice.

  • I really don't like this video ! You have a beautiful voice and you are clearly a fan of Jeff like me but this is definitely not like this, imitating this genious that you make a tribute to him ! So please stop that now ! You have sincerly a great voice but use it diferently ! (Ps: sorry for my bad english) RIP Jeff from France <3

  • This performance makes me sick. Jeff would have hated this, clearly! Is that a comic show? Because it's not funny. You're trying to live trough a dead man also an artist adulated by millions of people and you play with their pain. I feel it as a thievery, I'm sorry. We are supposed to make Jeff's songs live again trough a new century, with our own voices, not to imitate him in order to live again passed years between 1992 and 1997. Use your own voice guy.

  • The guitar is a bit out of tune I think.

  • yes he's a very good actor and can also sing. and ok, it's a trbute show.

  • this is the guy! he can sing like jeff and even looks like him, this or james franco, but this seems like the guy someone no one knows, perfect

  • Comment removed

  • Yeah Damon D, not JamesFranco.

  • Great job dude. Bring that show to Texas!

I might just travel up to NY to see this.

  • Youtube is full of singers covering singers, which is fine if they have an original way of delivering a song. But this is note for note plagiarism of Jeff`s live performance and irritates because in mimmicking every detail it`s closer to X-factor than any true artistic talent. If you going to steal a song, at least do your own version. This rendition just sounds like someone trying hard to sound like someone else. Even the t-shirt and the body movements are copied...seriously, what`s the point?

  • @mattkimb1 totally agree with you mate and i wanna share this personal opinion : why keep doing this?

Shakerspeare with music and lyrics by Jeff? Theres no Sense just a bussiness idea of keep killing the soul and memory ... Why not compose your own music inpired by Jeff thats the best tribute that you can do i guess ... In that way his legacy wil be always alive in you. (Excuse my bad English :( )

  • @mattkimb1 Hey crybaby, he's mimicking Jeff on purpose. Use your imagination, open your mind, and you might even feel Jeff somewhere in this hijacked hack of a performance that you so hate. This guy has found a way to pay tribute to Jeff and he's doing it. If you're so offended, why don't you reach deep inside yourself, and find a way to express your own unrealized, and unstolen, version which is obviously dying to get out of you? Exactly. You can't. That's why you're whinging here.

  • @bettyspinks Not really my point. It all seems too much like Elvis impersonators in Las Vegas. Bit sad and silly.

  • @mattkimb1 I see your point. At the same time, I must admit, I was silently wanting him to sing it like Jeff -- hit those high notes & all. I'm watching with interest to see if I feel he could play Jeff well in the movie. So far, from what I've seen/heard, I say yes. This performance, plagiarism or not, helped me form that opinion. Also, I have to give the guy a break. It was a tribute concert after all. Damon likely gave what he was asked to give & what he felt from his heart simultaneously.

  • @mattkimb1 He did this because this is a tribute performance FOR Jeff Buckley. I think it is amazing that he can deliver Jeff's songs sp effectively in the way that Jeff intended them to sound with the same feel as Jeff did.. His point is to help us remember Buckley and his sound, which he does an amazing job at!

  • @mattkimb1 because once in a rare blue moon. We lose someone, something...and it comforts others and even the performer to channel it so we can all experience the life flow through something, or someone beautiful. Such as Jeff, respect the talent it takes to EMULATE this beauty.

I will never get the chance to see Jeff live or bask in his music and such but this is a nice substitute that even for a few seconds reminds me something raw and beautiful was allowed audience long enough to stun us...

  • @billyvassi I agree, he emulates Jeff very precisely. But that`s just a memory trick. You can teach parrots to memorize exact sequences of sound. I think it`s ironic and pretty sad that this is exactly what Jeff would have hated. Cheap imitation. You see it in modern pop culture now. Everyone`s jumping on someone else`s train. This rendition is just a sign that music needs another punk~like kick to start something fresh.

  • @mattkimb1

It's called paying tribute. I can understand being original but I mean let's me honest, Buckley is untouchable. If anything, this kid did a great job paying tribute to someone who he obviously had great respect for as a musician. Enough so that he only wanted to do it the way the song was meant to be played. Don't like it? Want the song to be done in a "more original" way? Let's see you do one better... :/

  • @mattkimb1 chill out dude, he's not stealing anything.. it's not like he did it for commercial contrivance, i mean it's not like he's selling his third rate grace or something, it's for a jeff buckley tribute show! plus he's an actor and i think he did an amazing job. to be on that emotional level, singing jeff's song, sometimes your body does that unconsciously.

  • @mattkimb1 This is one of those cases when people should learn to keep their stupid opinions to themselves.

  • Did he perform any other songs? If so, pretty please post them!! I'm amazed

  • if only Mary didn't have such a crush on Franco.. I'm sure this guy, whoever he is, in the future has already nailed the audtion ;)

  • the earlier performers were horrible. unfortunately i left before this performance.

  • Are there videos from the other performers at the Knitting Factory besides these four folks?

  • People are throwing around big name actors for the role of Jeff In a bio pic....this guy would be perfect. He has the looks and the talent it seems to pull it off. But i still would be a bit weary of a film about my favourite artist of all time. But i believe they should get an unknown actor to play him if they do decide to make one as not to turn it into a "hollywood" film.R.I.P JB.

  • @gpower7 Geniuses think alike (lol). I have been wondering for weeks about Damon playing Jeff in the movie.

  • Holding it down.

  • Ohhhh my...Perfect, is so much Jeff, i just love it... post more, please.

  • overwhelming!!!!!

    lOVE IT!!

  • Having Seen Jeff Buckley Perform This Song A Couple of Times, Solo Live, I Have To Say This is an Amazingly Accurate Portrayal and is Eerily Uncanny to the Point of Being Frightening, as is The Physical Resemblance Between The Two Artists.

  • @WhaGoSon Having Read Your Boast--I Mean, Post--Did You Press Shift At The Beginning Of Every Word?

  • I was sincerely impressed with his range.

  • @chinoquezada Completely agree. Damon did an outstanding job with Last Goodbye, and his stage presence, his connection to the audience, his sense of humor, is quite similar to Jeff's.

  • @michaelhigbee indeed

  • DUDE, POST MORE!!
